Would it achieve much if he did? It seems the decision is made although of course I endorse turning up as what's to lose.

Exactly.

Unprofessional to not turn up to a business meeting with the very people you are doing business with.

The very least he should be doing. Might end up a pointless exercise, but you turn up, it's the professional thing to do whether to you are waiting for stuff in writing or not!!

The RECOMMENDATION from the planning officer is for the committee to approve the application, but they are not under any obligation to do so, particularly if they hear strong arguments at the public meeting.
I know this is "cloud cuckoo land" thinking, but that is the process, and if CCFC want ANY chance of getting the plans rejected, they HAVE to turn up and present their case. I have always been fairly neutral in the debate about our owners, and tend to favour Les Reid's arguments over Simon Gilbert's, but non-attendance would be a huge black mark for SISU in my book.

Will it make much difference? I doubt it but why write an objection letter if they don't turn up for that.

I would think that making a special exception to allow a CCFC representative to talk is trying to demonstrate that the planning committee have bent over backwards to consider CCFC.

I would be surprised if it makes much difference

But I don't think CCFC has any option but to send a director to speak on their behalf

It just depends what they say when they get there.

If CA doesn't turn up or somebody else, I'll be shouting abuse too!

Thinking about it, somebody like Venus would probably be better. He could then at least speak from a footballing point of view, about how kids come through the ranks, the community side of it. As an actual footballer he could probably play on the heart strings a bit better.

I don't think it's a special exception. Speaking from personal experience, if you make a representation through your local councillor, for example, he/she should ask if you wish to speak at the planning meeting. And you get your 3 minutes. That's the whole point of a public meeting, I think.

If they send anyone I can see it being MV, to point out the affect the loss of the academy would
have on the football club and local talented schoolboys.
But mainly as a token gesture and to show willingness to attend.

The right to speak is usually given to objectors who met the statutory notice period. CCFC were late have been invited to speak at the discretion of the chair of the meeting because of the special circumstances

I like this and it makes absolute sense, it's just that I'm convinced they don't want the academy,
I think this whole situation is a massive convenience for them.IMHO

Yeah, can't not attend after putting an objection in!

It is just like you say "going through the motions". I'd be really, really shocked if anything effects the planning for it, the way people have spoken about it like it is already built ever since the planning first went in.

They have to attend and in my opinion it has to be the c.e.o. He's the one who failed to attend the last proposed meeting and went on record to say why he didn't. Bit of a test for C.A. this one.

No I would send Venus or mowbray. The football side as they are not hated I don't think and also it affects real footballers and the football club forgetting all the bullshit

They have to turn up.

However I felt the same about the meeting. You say that you have spent months trying to get someone to talk to you.
When they finally agree to. You say no because you actually asked them to write to you first, not meet face to face.
Bloody turn up to the meeting and tell them what you want and why it is important to to get it in writing. Face to face is always better than emails. Also get the dialogue going. It's always got to end up in writing anyway if you actually get somewhere

Let's hope there isn't anymore of that crazy logic with this !!!

Exactly, Venus is a director now so might be the best bet.

They can go in and cut the politics and loopholes and just say the damage it will cause the club...

I don't think the invite is particular giving the club special treatment, I was under thr impression they quite often invite objectors to speak.

They should attend even though it is an absolute hiding to nothing.

The committee will ask CCFC to reference which areas of the CCC local or any national planning policies that be contravened by the Wasps' plan. CCFC will not be able to reference any and the plan will be approved.
The council will then be straight into its PR partner at the Telegraph who will state that SISU couldn't come up with a compelling planning reason for not approving the £7m Wasps training centre.

I went and spoke once at a meeting regarding changing our school into an academy - as did a number of parents and even students.

Didn't take a blind bit of notice.

Yeah, but OSB makes a good point about the club not having responded to the consultation before the required deadline, so the Council weren't under any obligation to allow them to speak.

They really need to find an actual planning reason why it should be delayed.
The council has lost its desire to help our owners in my opinion.
So nothing else will do I am afraid.
If they can't then they really need to consider the manner in which they conduct negotiations and get their ass to a meeting with CSF and Wasps quick time

The planners advised that it would go to Central Government on appeal and that the original 200 house plan 'would' get approved without doubt.
Ultimately it was thrown out, so it is not always a forgone conclusion.

To be fair - the academy proposal we objected to got thrown out (which was unheard of at the time) so all they did was get a new sponsor in the following year to try... That got through instead.
