The Shopping List: CM

Some targets Coventry could & should be looking at. You can thank me later Dean Austin

The latest article in the series is now live, looking at midfield reinforcements if Sheaf or Allen were to move on.

Joel Fujita has made a real impression in Belgium.

Some good analysis in here and a few I haven’t heard of before, Silas Andersen looks good but I wonder if he would be ready for the step up to the Championship yet (we saw Torp struggle with the intensity for a long time).

Aside from that they look quite defensive bar Dorgeles. I think we will be targeting more of a combative box-to-box type who sits in between Grimes and Rudi. In my mind that would be a powerful player capable of carrying the ball well into the final 3rd.

Will be interesting to see who we bring in as I feel it may be quite left field.

Andersen would need time, but he’s too good for that league. More of a Sheaf type.

Fujita would be ideal, would get through tonnes of work, and is still very good on the ball, would allow Grimes to get forward more on occasions.

Dorgeles like you say is more of a ball carrier.

I do like the profile of Dorgeles and think that type would suit our style of play best.

My only concern there would be the fact he is left footed and plays on the left of the 3CMs. Do you think he would be playing in similar positions to Rudoni and trying to get balls into the box from a similar area?

A player I like the look of would be Besfort Zeneli, what would your analysis be of him? Would he suit us for a Sheaf replacement? Looks to be a good box-to-box type

Haven’t watched him.

Solid numbers in general, and the Swedes have capped him (but possibly just to prevent him playing for Kosovo)

2 concerns:
Why have his numbers suddenly jumped up markedly this season? (12 games is a small data pool, and he disnt stand out in previous seasons)

He gets dispossessed a lot, which doesn’t bode well for a higher intensity league

Higher price due to Bodo/Glimt exposure in Europe.

Tried in Eredivisie and Superligaen in Denmark before and it didn’t work out, so returned to Norway.

Probably lacks size /scope.

Already 25

Only seen him in one game against Spurs in the Europa league and even though they lost 3-0, he impressed. Then looked into his numbers this season and they’re off the charts.

Might have matured as a player as he’s only 22, that could explain the jump this season. Looks a good ball carrier with decent defensive numbers. Dispossessed a lot would be a concern in this league with our weakness against the counter attack
