Miguel Ángel Brau - Signing #1

New Signing: 23 year old Spanish full-back joins on a 4 year deal from Granada in LaLiga2.
ccfcanalysis.substack.com

1st signing of the season.

Expect another one at left-back with Brau unlikely to start as first choice?

He'll at least be competing to be first choice. Dunno why everyone has decided the Spanish Second Tier is Dog & Duck standard but i'm hopeful he'll at least be an upgrade on the current 2.

you're expecting a guy who's made 20 starts in two seasons, all at Liga2 level, to come in, adjust to the Championship, and be number one from the get-go?

I did suggest Varane and Ramazani have made a similar move and done well.

OPTA have the Championship as the World's 6th strongest league, La Liga2 isn't in the top 30

Genuine question, how do you gauge how good a league is? I'd be very surprised if the Spanish Second Division, isn't actually in the top 30 in reality. I think anyone with a bit of knowledge recognises just about all of those teams.
Could you link it though? I would be interested to have a look.

I think given his experience and injury record it’s a fair question.

A player can play in a lower league and be clearly better than the general standard in that league, eg Cyrille Regis, Stuart Pearce & Jamie Vardy.

A current trend among Championship fans seems to be getting quite excited about players from the German Second Division. That Opta Power Rankings has the German and Spanish Second Divisions exactly level unless i'm reading something wrong? Then you find articles about him being one of the best young full backs in his current league, i think we can be hopeful he'll be half decent.

Dovin came in and has done well. The Swedish league is only 0.1 above the spanish second tier looking at that table.

Who knew there was a Liverpool in Uruguay (ranked 378)? Not me, for sure.

I think it’s reasonable to be fairly cautious of his ability and suggest he might not be coming in as immediate first choice.

The Spanish second league is on paper not as strong and he has only played a handful of games over the last two years. Add to the fact it can sometimes take foreign players a long time to adjust to English football.

His profile does look very exciting though and I hope he can be a great player for us.

Liam Bambridge does a pod about La Liga 2, that's a bit niche.
