This needs to happen at all levels IMO. I'd have a salary cap and salary floor for each division. If you can't meet it you don't get promotion, same as if you don't meet ground requirements.That's where there needs to be strict rules to put everybody on a level playing field.

However Burton have land assets, a positive Balance sheet (£5m) and are not burden with debt or large interest charges. Having got to the Championship then the important thing is to stay there and they did but the financials not available yet.

Fleetwood have also achieved on low budget but slightly differently. In year to 30/06/2016 they had a turnover of £4.3m and spent all that on wages 4.3m. They own land but have a negative balance sheet (-£6.9m). However they owe that and more to the owner (10.8m) who additionally wrote off over £6m in that financial year. They run at an annual loss of around £2.5m. That said they have spent quite a bit on the base for training and academy a clear long term plan.

So it is possible to achieve success on fairly modest means. I expect that CCFC will remain a EFL team but will bounce between L2 and L1 under the present owners, indeed under any owner that does not have significant funds. Are significant funds likely? other than history, fans potential and the name then I do not see what makes CCFC attractive to any investor when other clubs have better infra structure. Not sure I see SISU cutting and running if the JR2 goes against them - the actions increasingly look like ways to buy time whilst finances away from CCFC are sorted out - so any investor will have to pay a ransom to acquire. The true investment value has been lost so bumping along in L2 makes not a bit of difference to SISU. In deed any level of success is a positive for SISU and could allow funds extraction (not saying they have or will I don't know)
New owners could galvanise the fans and see promotion to L1 even Championship (Burton even Yeovil proved it can be done but can it be maintained) but with much of the infra structure gone then they will need deep pockets. Then you factor in the ripple effect of the current transfers market and wages, the trawling of the best young players by Premier League Clubs etc and the pockets to great success will need to be even deeper. Thats before factoring in the rebuilding of key relationships. In 10 years time I hope we have new owners but the damage done in the last ten years I think confines us to L2 and L1 in that order - but a lot could change. A Premiership promotion I think is a complete fantasy

It’s been the last 2 seasons. Not a lot before then. Still some prat’s wearing Man City.The constant since this thread started is MR.....what a job he has done and the patience he's had over these 7 years.....he's being rewarded now....new contract, untouchable from a supporters POV, able to go and sign players and a have a real go over the next couple of seasons to be a manager who has gone from L2 to Prem with the same club.
One other thing that has changed massively and will help us for the next 20 years at least imo.....the amount of kids in and around Coventry and the surrounding areas who have Cov kits or CCFC branded clothing......it's unreal compared to 2017 and that will help and increase our fan base over time. Next year attendance will drop to this season slightly (due to irregular time/days of games) but I'd say we can go towards average of 27k in 2027.....if we hit Prem then its 30k

Robins and those who have helped him over the years have overridden the ownership problems.Things change very quickly in football. Completely depends on ownership, the management team and luck. Good ownership and a class management team means an upward trajectory. I really have never thought we had a ceiling, as we have such an enormous catchment area. Surprised to read our gates are better this year than WBA. Our potential is greater than many give us credit for. Think small (SISU) and you will be small.

We didn't know at the time but the best thing to happen was Robins leaving us for Huddersfield. The idiots in charge at Huddersfield expected a sudden improvement. Their loss. Look where we were and where they are now.
Robins came back with the understanding that he made the decisions within a budget. He ended up saving their arse as well as putting us where we are now. When he came back we were worthless and they had wasted millions on their project.

I myself have been converted back to the club I used to attend games as a young lad with my grandfather at Highfield road and a few at the ricoh.
