Maybe they’re not saying anything out of the possibility that it could be in playable state before now and say 3pm on Friday?

That’s sort of what they’ve said…?

A simple update acknowledging supporters' concerns, laying out the current options being pursued, and their current working timescale for making a decision wouldn't be so hard, would it?

They've done that all day, batting off constant questions and stating quite clearly that once they know anything, they will let fans know. The bloke who runs twitter won't have as much idea of what's going on as we have.

Really? So what's the current working timescale and what are the options being pursued? I must have missed that.

From the refund page on their site I noticed this

"Coventry City will be providing a gesture of thanks to Season Ticket holders in recognition of the inconvenience caused in recent weeks and for their continued support, which will be communicated in due course."

Holding off on buying the away kit for now in case a few more games get delayed and they have to get super generous

Or a prepared joint statement where no one is trying to pass the blame on or the buck. Factually explaining what’s going to happen and when all having been agreed with the efl. And guess what this takes time but it’s much better than he said she said. I’m certain ccfc are as frustrated as us fans at not being able to confirm things for definite for Saturday until they can

Also lol at the idea that the club's current comms strategy to supporters is one guy replying to loads of people on Twitter saying "We'll let you know as soon as we can". Great stuff.

It's not the whole comms strategy, is it? Twitter is part of it though, isn't it? What else do you expect them to do? I tell you what, if you were running the Twitter account what would you be telling us?

Sitting on the fence not keen on Wasps and why we have actually had to give up a ground built for Cov city in the first place - However have seen the comments from Boddy and Vaughan if correctly reported - Wasps signed an agreement to host the rugby before Cov City came back - Playing 65 games on the pitch + 2 concerts - what pitch in the world could with stand that and then play top class football -Ideal and sensible situation the pitch needed relaying completely and Cov city needed to play away for the first few games end of story - All I fear for is writs and court summons flying about a big fall out coming -worse case scenario Robins and his team up and leaving -when all it really took was to sit down properly including EFL and come up with a sensible solution - Cov city rightly do require the pitch to be in prime condition but sometime circumstances just need talking through sensibly

If everyone knew what was potentially going to happen- why did they not sit down with the EFL before the season started (or did they)

Newport county 2017-2018
The EFL has agreed to a request from Newport County to postpone any home games until 26 August in order for the club to complete the installation of a new playing surface at Rodney Parade.

Any Club who is scheduled to play at Newport prior to this date will be asked if they want to reverse the fixture following the confirmation of the League Two schedule on Wednesday 21 June. The decision to reverse the fixture will be at the sole discretion of the Club(s) involved. If the option is declined then matches will be postponed until a later date in the season.

In addition, the EFL has agreed to reverse the fixture for Round One of the Carabao Cup in the event that Newport are drawn at home.

As I've said a couple of times now, just have the club release a statement that:

* Acknowledges the fans' frustrations
* Lays out what actions CCFC are pursuing
* Lays out the timescale for when they hope to make decisions

That's not so hard, is it? Don't you think that's the least we deserve?

(Of course the added bonus is that one statement like this would save the Twitter guy a shedload of time from having to reply to the same questions over and over, but whoever's running the club comms hasn't managed to work that out yet)

Coventry City’s Sky Bet Championship fixture against Huddersfield Town on Saturday 20 August 2022 has been postponed by the EFL due to ongoing issues with the playing surface at the Coventry Building Society (CBS) Arena.

The option of reversing the fixture to the John Smith’s Stadium was considered but it was deemed not possible given the timescales involved.

This follows the recent postponements for the Club’s League fixtures against Wigan Athletic and Rotherham United, and the Carabao Cup Round One tie versus Bristol City being moved to Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium.

The EFL welcomes the news that the Club and the CBS Arena have accepted the recommendations of internationally-recognised sports turf experts to undertake a re-lay of substantial parts of the pitch to try and avoid further issues for the remainder of the season.

The timescales presented to the EFL by the Club will allow a further inspection of the pitch before their next home game on Wednesday 31 August, against Preston North End, in order to ensure that the new surface is declared safe for the players and match officials.

The primary objective for the EFL is to get Coventry City playing at the CBS Arena as soon as the pitch is in a safe condition for the participants. It is only then that the League will consider the collective circumstances of each postponement before determining what course of action could be taken in accordance with the Regulations.

Coventry City Football Club and Wasps Group are very pleased to confirm that extensive work is taking place this week on the pitch at Coventry Building Society Arena.

A six-figure investment is being made into pitch improvements that will make the pitch safe and playable.

Saturday’s game against Huddersfield Town will be postponed to allow for this work to take place successfully. Coventry City had sought to reverse the fixture against Huddersfield this Saturday, but unfortunately Huddersfield could not accommodate this request due to timescales involved.

The Sky Blues’ first game back at the Arena will be on Wednesday 31st August against Preston North End.

There will be new synthetic fibres stitched into the ground throughout the pitch. These new fibres will give increased stability to the existing structure and then allow for better growth now and in the future.

Also, areas which have been more widely damaged will be subject to extensive and increased maintenance work so they can be fully integrated with the existing pitch.

Dave Boddy, Coventry City Chief Executive, said: “We are very pleased to bring news to our supporters that this work is taking place and beginning immediately.

“The extensive work will begin immediately – while this is not soon enough for Saturday, we will then be able to return to the Arena for our home game against Preston North End on Wednesday 31stAugust.

“I would like to thank Wasps Group and the Arena for agreeing to this work taking place.

“I know that all our fans will be disappointed that the match against Huddersfield has been postponed, but this work will address the issues that have been experienced at the Arena and put in place a pitch that will mean we will be able to get back to normal – for fans, players, staff and the Football Club as a whole.”

Stephen Vaughan, Wasps Group Chief Executive Officer, said: “Wasps Group is pleased that a solution has now been agreed with Coventry City to resolve the issues with the playing surface at the Arena.

“We appreciate this has been a difficult time for everyone involved, and are pleased that work is now underway to ensure Coventry City can return to the Arena by the end of August.”
