Pretty much this, in the end the contract will contain clauses about the standard of the playing surface and clearly wasps as owners of said pitch have not stuck to these. The fact the pitch was unfit to play is proof enough of that.

I thought this part of the Wasps statement was quite telling:

'Tomorrow’s Carabao Cup game was moved from the Arena without a further pitch inspection, which is the prerogative of the football club, but I hope they and the officials feel they are able to play next week’s home game here at the Arena.

Already sounded to me like a dispute of any penalty that a pitch postponement clause might contain. 'We're not paying you for the Bristol game because you chose to move the game without getting it officially called off'

They are also saying they informed the club the pitch will not be relaid and that the club were advised to play some games away

This was communicated officially or not so should be easy to prove. It’s clear neither side have communicated all summer properly. Another bitter row is building up

Not sure yet but I believe the details are being held by CCFC to try and maintain the public image of the relationship between the two clubs.

I've actually seen a couple of reports from independent agronomists in relation to football playing surfaces. Not related to this situation or the Arena but it was weirdly interesting and a lot more detailed than any of us could imagine.

Club would argue that if they had waited for a pitch inspection, it would have then been too late for them to make alternative arrangements if it was unplayable and thus opening them up to further efl sanctions

Which is fine and totally warranted.

But that's all off the field.

On the pitch, we've moved forward every season for the last 4 or 5 years. MR and AV are still our management team, we've (at the moment), kept hold of our top 3 players, we've got rid of some of the deadwood, we've brought in some decent players to supplement the squad such as Panzo and Palmer and we drew away against a team unbeaten in about 20 games who subsequently won away at Bristol City this weekend.

Losing O'Hare is a blow, yes. But as it stands, losing one player hasn't condemned us to a relegation battle.

The negativity around the off the pitch stuff is fine and warranted. To suggest we're looking a relegation battle after one fucking game is ludicrous.

Does depend how much the negativity permeates the squad though. Robins has done a fine job so far in not letting that happen, and let's hope that continues, but it must be pretty wearing having crisis after crisis not of his making rumbling in the background.

Well what good has happened since then? Lost O’hare to injury, unable to play at home, signed a player deemed not good enough for a lesser team than us, missing out on our preferred centre halves?

Unable to play at home for 1 league game (granted, so far), kept our best players, got rid of some deadwood of the wage bill, signed Panzo and Palmer who look decent additions, drew our ONE game so far away against a team who are full of confidence after not being beaten in 20.

People need to separate the off the field stuff with on the pitch.

It's fair to say we've had our fair share of issues and shit happen off the pitch over the last few years though. This isn't something new for CCFC.

It's not really been an issue so far has it? Wages always paid, team morale has always seemed great (and actually seems to have got better over the seasons), MR and his team just get on with and do what they do best - making good of an overall questionable situation off the pitch.

O'Hares injury is a major blow - but it doesn't consign us to a relegation battle. Certainly not after one game.

I know football fans can be very strange at times (see our Facebook group, the Sunderland Forum for notable examples), but Rugby folk, specifically the sort that only follow Rugby are weird as fuck, and Wasps fans from Coventry take it to a whole new level. The point is though that it does wear people down. Hasn't been an issue so far, but we've succeeded despite of those issues, and that's every credit to Robins. At some point though it gets too much if it keeps going, whether that's in a week, a month, a decade... it's far easier to work for a nice calm well run organisation than a chaotic mess where the focus often drags away from the core business.

It's a concern.

Definitely agree. Although if Robins is looking to work at a nice, calm, well run organisation then the Championship is probably the wrong division for him.

Took a quick look on their forum, I know we have some odd people on here and some posts leave you scratching your head wondering what you've just read but they are on another level.

They've unquestioningly accepted Vaughns statement and as far as they're concerned that's now the end of it, Wasps blameless and the postponed matches are all the fault of SISU.

I assume I've had my first blocking as I cannot see that comment.

Aggressive?! I'm 5 ft fuck all and couldn't fight my way out of a wet paper bag!

If my posts are forward, it's just aimed at calming some of the hyperbole on here on some subjects.

I'd like to think that my posting history shows that I'm fairly balanced, apologise/admit when I was wrong (Freddy Eastwood, Ray Ranson spring to mind) but when people are posting about relegation after one game, something needs to be said to balance the madness.

Don't disagree and of course it's a concern.

But MR has earnt the freedom of the city for what he's done in such circumstances. I know he'll have a breaking point though. I just don't see this as it. I also don't think we'll get relegated on the basis of having played one away game and having to play somewhere between 1-5 games in another stadium.

We actually did alright at St Andrews
