To be fair Pete, a back up plan for Wednesday has been formulated pretty quickly.

When you pay to rent a stadium, with an agreement for a pitch to be up to the standard required, and are promised it would have been re-laid, then you wouldn't expect it to be like a ploughed field that looks like a shit tip.

There's also not much you can do when the care and upkeep of the pitch is also not staffed by yourselves.

The fact that we are at the mercy of incompetent, lying wankers perhaps should have raised some concerns, but its pretty unheard of before and just shows the utter shit our landlords are.

Agree with all that but think the bigger solution may be more difficulty. And doesn’t negate the need to have a plan

It’s the price of the coach. Adult tickets are £13, so you’re looking at £34 if you want to attend a first round game in Burton

Some people pay for travel to cbs of course. Probably cost about £15 in petrol

I've heard it said by many seeking to blame the club that it was 'obvious' the pitch would be fucked after hosting the 7s and we should have known that.

For comparison, this it the ibrox pitch just days after the end of the 2014 CG where they hosted the 7s.

The issue wasn't the rugby, it's that it was played on a battered, patched-up surface that they could have replaced in the time window they had. They didn't and we're paying the price.

I think this is a fair point to be made - if the surface was invested in properly prior to now it wouldn’t be too bad - don’t remember the pitch after the olympics being too bad and that had a lot of 90 minute football played on it in a short period, and concerts that year. some days the olympics were one game straight after another.

Now my understanding is that that investment/maintenance is shared between the rugby club and us….. if that’s not the case this time then I’m happy to stand corrected, but I can’t believe that it’s purely down to wasps to maintain the pitch - doesn’t make sense to have our own ground staff if that’s the case. Wasps/arena ‘pay’ for everything and we now/seed whatever needs doing. Fair dos though if they said a new surface was going to be laid then fair enough.

I agree it’s a terrible situation to be in but I fear it’s a sum of a lot of factors.

edit: Coldplay also played on it the olympics year, so it’s not like the surfaces can’t take it - if managed properly.

Let's get behind the team. It isn't the players fault and they deserve our support. We should fill out the stadium and show those shitty Wasps cunts what a loyal sports club is. Anyone on the fence just remember that.

The only plan we should have now as supporters is how to rid the City of Wasps.

Not sure if already posted but the Club just tweeted that all tickets sold for Wednesday will now be refunded. Easier to start again I guess.

I would imagine a similar decision will be made for the Rotherham game

It’s an absolutely shite situation, and the Burton one is random too - why Burton?!

But any blame being apportioned to SISU/the club/Boddy is nothing but agenda pushing.

Plenty to have a dig about, but control of a pitch in a stadium we don’t own is not one.

Talk of buying a ticket to check the pitch is ridiculous too. How bad a situation would that be; the only way for the CEO of the club who play at the pitch to check it is to buy a ticket, huh?!

The club have a pretty good relationship with Burton I think.

When they were looking for grounds to play at when talks broke down between the club and Wasps, Burton were one of the few that agreed to a ground share. If St Andrews had fallen through I think they were the backup option.

If I was Boddy I'd refund all Rov'rum tickets, note down the total of the cash refunded then when they put the re-arranged tickets on sale I'd send WASPs the bill for any shortfall in the cash refunded.

Frankly it's a disgrace that Dave Boddy only managed to get an agreement to play at the Pirelli and not at Wembley.

Also I'm disgusted he hasn't personally offered to give every single fan a lift to Burton.

"Following fan feedback ..."?
Sorry, whichever clown DIDN'T think of this approach first needs some re-training in customer service. Could have done immeasurable damage to fan loyalty if they had persisted with the frankly barking idea of making everyone go to the CBS to get their cash refund!

Unrelated but why is everyone upper casing Wasps? A tribute to that weird chant they do?

The pitch will be playable for the next home league game i would have thought. Body has to be seen as taking a stance here, but will be mindful of our relationship issues of the past, and the new 10 year agreement where a somewhat clean slate was established between the two clubs with a line drawn under past 'difficulties'.
It goes without saying any new legal threat would damage that new relationship, and be a futile exercise. What Body should have done was check up on the pitch condition before, and after the games, most importantly communicating with his counterpart at WASP regarding any promise of a new pitch being laid. When that pitch was not materialising why did he not question that long ago? I'm not sure where I read it but believe there was a small team from both clubs set up to monitor and manage the pitch between both clubs?

Are WASP leaglly liable for any compensation to CCFC? Would be very difficult, and more damaging than good would come from it. I would think WASP will most likely agree a small reduction in our rent payments for this season, on our 10 year agreement as a means of compensation for loss of revenue streams, including expenditure of a re-arranged fixture at a different ground. Not a huge amount but would satify both sides. WASP themselves may have a claim against the games organisers who did not make all resonable efforts to reinstate the condition of the pitch to acceptable levels. But that's for them.
It's too late to lay a new pitch clearly, but today they can work miracles with the grass and given a bit a of time it will be OK. So there is blame on all sides over this as I see it, getting irrate and threatening is the last thing anyone should be considering, provided WASP play decently here, and why wouldn't they?
As for our 'lost' revenue, the game will be rescheduled, so it's only the initial 'bumper' crowd we would have expected on opening day against potentially a lower crowd in the rearranged fixture. Hence the need for some adjustment to the rent to somewhat nullify the loss and keep the goodwill established with WASP intact, which to my mind is imperative to the 10 year agreement. CCFC moves forward, concentrate on what could be a great season ahead that's just started that has a long way to go, and plenty of bumper crowds up the CBS to come!
