I haven’t heard his interview and if that’s what he has said we are not to blame, strikes me it is wholly down to the CWG.

They are common. Excluding Ice Hockey matches, Nottingham Arena (hardly a staple venue compared to 02 Arena, NIA and Manchester Arena) has 32 concert type events between now and Jan 1st including Westlife, Rod Stewart and The Sugarbabes. There's not a single concert at the CBS in scheduled, just random exhibitions (not many either).

I have no idea how much money you make hosting those events but it's empty for half the year.

Most of the money is made by the promoters and the f &b providers

Technically they didn’t lie, because nothing was ever said about work actually commencing. As far as I can recall.

The statement at least indicates there is a proposal between WU and SISU

As to a start date as one has not been given there can be no lying on this point

From what I can remember it was feeble and unconvincing at best. The beginning of a prospective plan that was going nowhere.

Someone on twitter has asked Gilbert for an update so hopefully as a big ccfc fan he will do some research.

Pretty much every concert falls into one of two categories, either venue hire or a bought show.

For most venues they will prefer venue hire, it may not be a huge profit per event but its a guaranteed profit unless you do something very stupid and charge below your costs but obviously its a case of the more shows the better, not the occasional one here and there.

The other is a paid show, essentially the venue buys in the show and pays a fee to the agent, this is more risky especially for larger shows as the fee will be based on a sold out show and even if it isn't there will be a clause which gives the artist up to 90% of the profit once costs are covered.

So for example I suspect the Spice Girls show was a paid show, they would have done venue hire at the premium dates such as Wembley, Eitihad and Murrayfield and had those shows at weekend then offered midweek dates to other venues on a paid basis.

Then obviously you have other revenue streams such as f&b and parking, if you haven't sold that all off to a third party company.

It all gets a bit more complicated when you get companies like AEG involved as they will often be the promoter, own or manage the venue, own the ticketing company etc but they also have so many artists on their books if they're managing your venue you can pretty much run shows as many nights of the week as you want.

the thing I want to hear now, and hopefully Gilbert has either spoken to the club, Wasps or an expert about this, is how long the problem is going to take to resolve. the arguing over whose fault it is and compensation can wait.

So what you and , I think Grendel are saying , is that, no matter that ACL didn't replace the pitch as promised, no matter that the Rugby 7 s trashed the pitch, it's all the club's fault because Boddy didn't sneak in and carry out a pitch inspection

No what I am saying is if he had doubts about the pitch he could have found out.
Ffs it was all over here and Facebook and he finds out about it on Friday really?

If SBB knew then Boddy knew, so if he was posting it pre-Friday then the club certainly knew. Friday was the day they could officially inspect, I'm not sure what more we're expecting here.

I see Ruck the Rugby website are even posting negative Wasps stories.
The tide has truly turned. They really are universally despised.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Commonwealth Games said they had signed an official tenancy agreement to use the stadium from 8 July until 14 August.

"After a contract was agreed for Coventry City Football Club to return to the Coventry Stadium, Birmingham 2022 was asked whether it could accommodate CCFC matches within our tenancy," they added.

"To assist the football club, we rearranged our derigging schedule to make the stadium available on 7,10 and 14 August.

"It has been a busy summer at the Coventry Stadium, and as has been planned for several years, we were pleased to stage rugby sevens matches at the venue on 29, 30 and 31 July."

We’ll that’s it in a nutshell, unless the pitch is being worked on now we won’t get hold of it until the 14th, two days before the Wigan game, could push it back a day perhaps to the Wednesday but not a lot of time to get it sorted.

Interesting article about the pitch and that it was relaid in 2020 bt wasps only installed a full grass pitch not a hybrid hence how crap it was in 2020

Coventry City and Wasps - Sky blue thinking

After a turbulent few years, the future looks bright for the Coventry Building Society Arena - formerly the Ricoh Arena - with Coventry City Football Club set to share the facility with Wasps RFC for the next decade. For Grounds Manager Paul Currier, it offers the opportunity to nurture a pitch...

Certainly seems to confirm that there was no plan in place to renovate the pitch this summer re the Boddy interview in March. Also if the pitch requires water for 18 hours per day (!!!) then it isn't getting it while the have large events taking place. Add in the hot summer and it's obvious why we have a disaster on our hands. I suspect that MR was shocked by the state of the pitch but there are others within the club structure who knew that we were being strung along. We'll be playing in bare sand in the winter.

So because the Commonwealth have it, they won't allow the pitch that they ruined to be looked after? Who's bright idea is that?

Hence why villa turned it down. When they signed the contract city weren't there so it wouldn't have affected wasps too much. Problem comes from false promises since then

I'm really surprised why more vitriol is being poured on the doorstep of The Commonwealth Games - they SHOULD have played it at a fucking rugby ground where there is no footy played
But 7s doesn't fuck the pitch like the 15-a-side game does. There were a lot of them, but they only last 15 minutes FFS

I assume plan C (D? Z?) for Wasps would be too sell the lease to whoever would take it and use that money to survive and move to a smaller stadium.
