Would’ve preferred a longer deal.

Suggests that both sides took a tough but pragmatic approach to negotiations.

How can a 5 year deal be great news? It’s still short term.

Of course it’s better than nothing but it hardly provides long term stability.

Too short but maybe we’re planning on buying it with our proceeds from Operation Premier League

5 years gives us the stability to push for the Prem even if we don't do it this year

Peace of mind for another 4.5 years before we all start worrying again! Now if they could just release the season ticket details that would be great ….

Ffs we've been ground hopping and going season to season, of course 5 years is great news. Some of you will spin the negativity angle out of anything.

Do you blame people?
We had a 10 year deal that lasted 5 minutes.
It's good news, but after what we've been through only a fool doesn't look at the potential pit falls.

Only 5 years as Ashley will need to charge more rent to the Champions of Europe

So on that basis you'd have welcomed a longer deal that could still broken. That makes perfect sense.

Isn't a license what we wanted ? Better than just rent ? Or am I wrong

I welcome this deal, but recent history tells me not to start doing cartwheels.
And this is still only a licencing agreement.

No we wanted a lease. License is what we had.

It’s good news but a five-year licence is really just kicking the can down the road.

In terms of the big questions - where are we going to play long term? Can we reconfigure the seat allocation or get safe standing? Can we make more money off matchday revenues? Can we be sure that Wasps or some other sports team won’t parachute back in? - none of those get sorted by today’s announcement.

Maybe it's because the stadium owners want to see what division the clubs playing in before settling on cheaper rent long term

I don’t see why you couldn’t just put clauses in TBH, same if we get relegated. Well actually I don’t see why our division makes a difference to its market value but there you go.

Five years will fly by. Got one of those photo memory things on my phone just now. Five years ago I was at Waddam Road seeing us stick six past Cheltenham.

A license with a proper business that will survive the duration of the license

License doesn't give the club the level of security that a lease does but on the other hand doesn't give them the same level of obligations.

FG I guess will want to work out what sort of arrangement makes better commercial sense for them in the long term, they've only been here a few months.

Don't wanna be negative but the Twitter reaction has been nauseating.

Tweets like these are utter bollocks.

SISU gave new deals to O'Hare and Hamer
Kept Robins
Signed a CBS deal double the length of King's

King has done nothing that SISU couldn't/didn't do.

Let's he honest I'm sure licence or lease could be broken, but as we only have the stadium on the days of games it might make a lease difficult, but hhen I don't really understand all the legalities, simply happy to have a future sorted. 5 years is a long time in football.

It sounds like good news if way before the end of these terms they have something more long-term put in place, which the wording suggests is their goal. I can't pretend to understand the ins and outs of licences and leases so I'm just happy we're playing where we should be and not wondering about August.
