yMy preference would have been to target him yeah, can you not say who you would have preferred us to target?

Didn’t know much about Rushworth prior to being linked with him but after a few google searches and watching a few clips etc he seems like he will be a great addition.

Wonder why Brighton pulled the pin on him going to Rangers

We seem to have quite a good relationship with Brighton, so it may just be that we are respectful in our dealings - and seen as a good place for your talent to develop - obviously there’s the Gyokeres deal and then Ayari’s loan (even if the latter didn’t work out for us).

I think Rudoni is excellent and agree he has even more to give but to say you wouldn't swap him for Gus is a bit myopic
Rudi is good but Hamer was voted THE player of the championship
Why didn't Rudoni even get into that side?

Rudoni has a great career in front of him. Hamer has already reached his peak. If anything this is where his monetary value starts to go down. And the Rudoni we got in the second half of the season was better than Hamer. He was getting a goal/assist about every game.

Why wouldn't we want 2 good GK's? Look at what happened when Dovin got his injury.

He is obsessed with Chelsea players, maybe thinks that FL can pick and choose who he wants from them

If we get promoted we clearly need better than Wilson as a second choice keeper.

We don’t know if Dovin comes back as good as he was. It’s sensible to have our contingency plan already sorted (if the option is true).

Loan signing for the season makes perfect sense. If he's doing well, we don't have to rush Dovin back.

I think we could be in for a busy news week with a few ins and a few outs. Should start to get an better idea of the squad FL wants to start the season over the next 10 days.

There’s a few I’d like on loan from Chelsea and for Frank to use his contacts like he did at Derby. Seemed to work pretty well for him last time.

Dovin is one of the best goalies in the league and he’s 22, he is our long term GK. Rushworth for a season long loan whilst Dovin is out/ coming back is perfect. They are both too good to be a back up keeper.

A lot of premier league sides have 2/3 very good keepers. Should they all not carry them because they are too good to be back ups?

There won’t be many with 2 starting calibre goalies under 24. GK is the last position we need to spend big money on. A loan for 12 months is perfect.

Would not say its the last position given our only goalkeeper who would not be a liability in a key position is injured for a 3rd of the season! However, agree a loan would be preferable.

Dovin is out injured as we all know. When Dovin is back it will be up to him to win his place back. If Rushworth shows he is better than Dovin he should keep his place. There would be no pressure to rush him back.

And as I said if we get promoted this season we would need to strengthen just to have a chance of competing. Having 2 strong GK's in the Prem is important. Let's say we're in the Prem and Dovin had a setback. Without another good GK we would end up beating all the previous records for the wrong reason. If we could get Rushworth permanently and could afford him and he is better than Dovin why wouldn't we sign him?

Of course a 12 month loan would be perfect. But how about in 12 months? Go back to Dovin and Wilson?

Nobody is denying the loan for 12 months we are saying we should look to purchase afterwards. Your suggestion that wes houldnt because of Dovin is ludicrous. We then end up in a situation where we have Wilson again as back up. Its the same argument used for signing Kesler-Hayden as well as Van Ewijk

Why is this relevant ??

but given you started …if you apply your logic that FK didn’t improve the Derby team and should take little credit for their Play off final place .. I assume you do give credit to Frank for building the champions league winning Chelsea team that Tuchel inherited ??

lol he’s 100% an upgrade on Dovin, I’d take him on a permanent any day if we want to get to the next level. Hopefully loan with option to buy

Let's wait and see. He is certainly a big prospect but I don't remember seeing him play before. Just seen a few clips myself. Even Collins would look excellent in a YouTube video unless it's a video of someof his clangers. Dovin is a very competent GK and the only reason we're in for another GK is because he is injured. Both are young for a GK and should continue to improve.

If we end up with both on full contracts we would be covered in that position for years. If/when one left we would still have the No.1 and have more cash come in.

Well it’s not the same because baring injury a good gk will play every minute of a season. No decent goalie is going to be happy as a number 2 here. It’s the same reason Kelleher has left Liverpool.

The 10-15 games before his injury Dovin was our best player. Obviously not a huge sample size but I think he has massive potential.

If we’re still in the championship then yes? Possibly bell will have come on by then or maybe we bring in an experienced number 2? It’s a lot more sensible than signing a GK for 6 million when we’ve already got a very good one.

So we shouldn't have 2 good GK's just in case one ends up wanting to leave?

What team in world football has 2 equally good goalies? Has a team ever been successful rotating their goalies? My point is that I don’t see the point in spending a decent chunk of our limited budget on a GK when in my opinion we already have a very good one.

There’s 1 team in the world imo who’s done that and it’s Liverpool. It’s not functional for us to have two high costing goalkeepers
