Some very very short memories here about just how good Dovin is.

He's a very good 'keeper as well but if we go up we'd need 2 who are good enough to start.

Ive seen a few posts now on a few threads alluding to this! Is absolutely crazy speak! Brighton wouldn't sell him this summer? If he leads a team to Championship promotion, why on earth would they sell him next summer? In absolutely no world, do we sign him permanently. Brighton dont want to sell. Otherwise we'd already own him.

Some PL transfer arrangements these days often involves selling a player to meet financial requirements with an option to buy back at the selling clubs leisure. That's what happened with the Burnley goalie last season.

...suspect he would have saved Torp's shot. In an inverted way it showed his value.

So they refuse to sell as they like the look of him as one for the future. He goes out on loan, looks like possibly the better of the keepers in the championship, wins promotion, possibly winning the golden glove whilst doing so, then Brighton decide he's actually not that good, we might sell him after all???? Get a grip!

If they didnt sell him this season because they want to keep him, theyre even less likely to want to sell him after a stellar season!

We needed dovin last season to go on our amazing run

Needed rushworth to a lesser extent on this current run

That's not to put him down. He's been brilliant and we are in safe hands regardless who plays it seems

Last 4 games there has been 9 shots on target and we've conceded 7 goals. If Wilson or Collins were between the sticks then we'd be up in arms.

On what basis? I think he seems to have a bit better ball control than Wilson but than that I fail to see what he’s better at in goalkeeping?

he can’t set a wall, appears to lose concentration and has pretty much conceded most shots on target - all but 1 game against teams that are woefully bad and 1 which on paper are decent but mustered 1 shot on target.

I’m not saying Wilson is the answer but there had to have been plenty of goalkeepers available that are far better than this clown

if anything - expectation appears to be low if he’s the generally accepted standard

Second worst in the championship on save % so far. Only behind QPRs keeper, who conceded 7 in 1 game!

When your GK is in the same line up as Ryan Allsop, you know its bad!

Let's be brutally honest, from what we've seen of him so far, he's no better than Wilson.

The warning signs were there in pre-season, but they were ignored as "over confidence" but now its hard to ignore the fact that he doesn't actually save very many efforts on goal, and cant organise his defence or command his area. Unfortunately the stats dont lie.

Is he still adapting to being a no1? Is it still early days ? Can he become the keeper we thought we were getting?
And would we spend £5.5million on him now? There's far more questions than answers so far.

To be honest its getting harder to justify him starting, and he's only first choice because Wilson was considered not good enough.
We certainly need Dovin back ASAP.

Watch him get M.O.M today

Mad that players sometimes take more than a few games to settle in isn’t it? Who would have thought!

Hang on before you jiz in your pants, hes had fuck all to do since the Leicester game, (1 decent save though today tbf)
But Hes got a long way to go to beat Wilson's clean sheet record.

And let's not forget he cost us goals against Derby, QPR and Oxford.
So yes hes doing well recently, but theres a long slog still to go.

True... But as long as he has a pulse on Tuesday... It will be a considerable upgrade on the last keeper we had at Fratton Park!

Almost as if he’s settled in a little now, don’t you think?

I think I’m right in saying if he doesn’t concede on Tuesday he’s equalled the club record for consecutive clean sheets. I’m not sure but he can’t be off the longest minutes record either as it was 17 mins against Norwich and we played what 8 mins of injury time in the second half alone? So he’s at at least 523 mins excluding injury time. I’m sure the previous record was high 400s.

All you can say with certainty is they didn't want to sell him for £5.5m, or whatever it was we bid.

I'd imagine if we went up, we'd bid significantly more.

And if he drops a bollock on tuesday, where does that leave him?

As I said hes doing ok now, but 10 games is still a small sample, especially when he had 3 poor games in the first few. Let's see where hes at come the Christmas/new year period.

So what you’re saying is, we should all give him more time and reserve judgement?

That's true tbf.

I think hes doing well of late, but that's mainly because hes had fuck all to do, and that's down to the great defending in front of him.
For example MvE got a head on an effort that looked goal bound today, and Thomas and Kitching dealt with everything else.
On the one occasion Blackburn looked like they were going to score he pulled of a great reaction save, so full credit to him for that.

If he makes a mistake in the next 1.5 games you’re going to feel very silly.

I’d be pretty confident at this point that Rushworth is significantly better than Dovin. Could even see the latter going on loan somewhere in January if he needs the match fitness, we are in safe hands.

The current record is 6 which has been managed twice in the club’s history. Will be very tough doing it at Portsmouth though.

Unless he asks for a transfer as he wants to be a number 1 at his age. The current Brighton keeper Verbruggen is a year younger than Rushworth and has 20 odd caps for Holland. Its fair to say when he goes back to Brighton he will be fighting it out to be 2nd or 3rd choice. He's 24 and has played 58 first team games all at Championship level in his career. Unless like Wilson he's happy to be a number 2 or 3 his whole career he will be looking to move on sooner or later. Crucially he will also only have a year left on his contract at the end of the season.
