Early days, can’t we just give players time to settle in? Players make mistakes, even the best players, that isn’t the problem. The important bit his how they react after they have made a mistake in that game.

true but nowhere near the goals Wilson and Collins were throwing in, said Saturday I’m still not sure about him, maybe expectation was high for him, but if it’s only until dovins back then he’ll do

Dovin was pants at first. New club, new defence and in his case new country. All players take time to settle.
Rushworth has not played first team football for a while. Was player of the season for Swansea in the Championship.
We are not like Norwich who blocked a record 15 shots. Our defenders are exposed by the way we play including the goalies.
He has not been great on shots. However, if you look at the Norwich goal that their fan put up on another thread, Rushworth had no chance. A few people on here blame him.
His distribution is really good. It was obviously a tactic for him to kick to our right wing which was presumably an area our coaches thought Norwich had a weakness.
Posters on her have complained he should have saved the Norwich goal and he kept kicking to the right.
After ten games, he should have improved or his confidence may have been knocked by his long-term injury. Dovin is currently in exactly the same position.

expectaction was high?

We're expecting him to be better than Wilson not Donnarumma. St Pauli - Was a friendly... but horrendous, Derby - let it go over his head from a freekick on the line, Can't arrange a basic wall against Oxford, This isn't too high expectation -this is a basic expectation for a goalkeeper we were willing to pay 5.5m for.

Ironically i've defended him against someone saying he should have saved norwich's goal - but hes been questionable in every game in all but 2 - where the opposition had about 2 shots combined against him

That’s why I said “ expectation was high, he’s a back up keeper and nowhere near as bad as Wilson ?

On what basis? I think he seems to have a bit better ball control than Wilson but than that I fail to see what he’s better at in goalkeeping?

he can’t set a wall, appears to lose concentration and has pretty much conceded most shots on target - all but 1 game against teams that are woefully bad and 1 which on paper are decent but mustered 1 shot on target.

I’m not saying Wilson is the answer but there had to have been plenty of goalkeepers available that are far better than this clown

if anything - expectation appears to be low if he’s the generally accepted standard

Think he’ll come good like Dovin did last season but will take 10-20 games

A few frustrating mistakes so far but there is no way I’d bring Wilson back in like some have suggested

Never said Lampard was clueless - he’s clearly been dealt a shit hand in the goalkeeping department, I’d probably level the comment at the recruitment team - Who has deemed by most on here as

5 games and 4 mistakes leading to goals against the arse end of the league is extremely poor for a goalkeeper - we used a loan and finances that possibly could have been used elsewhere to bring in someone that doesn’t look any better than what we had. May aswell have stuck with Wilson - the result would have been the same. May have beat Oxford as he probably knows how to set a wall.

thank fuck we didn’t spend 5.5m on him. Interestingly - Bristol City’s goalkeeper is on loan from United. He’s started alright

The setting of the wall was poor though Thomas turning his back didn't help. Hopefully he will learn from that mistake.

Again missing my point entirely - do we need a better keeper? Yes we do - Wilson isn’t good enough. But this guy is yet to show we’ve improved that. Like I said - Vittek at Bristol is on loan - how come he’s ready. To go?

How many more cock ups is he allowed then? Goalkeepers are slightly different - their cock ups cause goals. If we lose 1-0 on Saturday and he’s directly at fault… do we just say, it’s just 6 games. Just get behind him - I don’t recall you behind Collins last season?

Mate, it’s clear you don’t rate him. luckily lampard does, he could of done better for some of the goals but so could every keeper, the goals we’ve conceded are nowhere near the ones that Wilson and Collins have chucked in, and Collins has had plenty of time to prove himself, you’ve written Rushworth off after 5 games

There’s such thing as track record. Collins had already shown to be poor in the 23/24 season, so dropping him back in last season only for him to revert to type he was never going to get the rub of the green.

I do think Rushworth has started poorly but I’m also quietly confident that he will prove to be a useful addition. He basically has no first team football last season.

Then I’ll revert to Simon Moore - who had a good first season but after 2/3 games he’d made 2/3 mistakes and we wanted him out.

And the no first team football thing is a cop out. You set walls at all levels, getting lobbed whilst on your line is unacceptable. We play arguably one of our season’s biggest games on Saturday - if he drops a bollock then, so we just say “ah well he’s only played 6 games”. Maybe we should have got someone who’d played last season. Like I said earlier, the Bristol keeper is on loan from United. He was available.

Brighton sent him here to play and to develop even if that entails making his errors at our expense along the way. He won't be dropped now unless his confidence gets blown. I'd much rather we had taken an established keeper if we had to get a loan.

Radek Vittek. We also had 5.5m for a goalkeeper, I’m sure we could have bought one of our competitors goalkeepers with that much

Well it's a bit of pointless argument then, we don't know if there was that option for an experienced head. Give him a bit of time to settle and he may prove why we were so interested.

Vittek is a better keeper, admittedly not more established but was available for loan. I'm not blaming him for the Norwich goal btw. More pointing out that there were better keepers out there.

I really hope he comes good, but from experience - watchin keepers bollock up regularly does nothing for their confidence and in turn makes them worse.

Just want to know how long he needs to get settled, and how many more cock ups hes allowed before Criticism is allowed.

If there wasn't anyone then fair enough but that would be very, very surprising. There are always keepers! I suspect that we had scouted Rushworth previously at the time of the Dovin move.

Again that isn't the point I was arguing? He's been better so far, but being a better keeper overall is subjective. Jesus RCC looked brilliant for about 3 months for us back in the league one days and then look how that panned out.

If we had signed Vitek and Bristol Rushworth you'd have been complaining they made the better signing.

Vitek had a loan to accrington for half a season, and a loan in the arse end of nowhere.

Your point again made no sense

We tried the experience head thing with Moore and look how that turned out, I'm not saying there isn't someone better out there of course there is, but availability, interest, money all comes into it i'm sure. Our recruitment team isn't infallible but they get more right than wrong, Dovin started just as poorly but came good hopefully Rushworth does too

Why would I? Wasn't keen on signing Rushworth initially. I ask again - How many more mistakes is he allowed before we're legit allowed to critisize? Because right now i'm not entirely sure he's the answer.

We're going to have to hope. What I haven't seen yet in Rushworth is an ability to organise the defence in front of him properly.
