Just a shame that Pressley couldn't fit him in a midfield boasting the talents of Conor Thomas, Adam Barton, John Fleck, Danny Swanson, Jim O'Brien and of course not forgetting the colossus that is Jack Finch.

It's not about how much MK Dons are paying him now, but what we would have been paying him now.

i cant understand all of the creaming over baker - 1 good season and several distinctly average ones
Before the good season he was at the David bell standard
Last season he was not a first pick

get over him

Hmm.I think he is better than all of them.

And that may now even extend to the Goal Keeper position seeing how poor our current two are doing.

So who did we replace him with that scored the goals he did last season? And yes shall we consider our new strikers in this?

Still a decent player who can do a job in this league. It's a shame but you have to move on from it.

I think O'Brien and Fleck (despite their recent performances) are better than Baker.

Baker was let go for Financial reasons, is 31 now, had one decent season, went missing alot last season when the going got tough once Clarke left and fell out the side.

Work rate was not their so was dropped, lost captaincy, hes only hitting form at MK as he is being pushed to break into their team, all new players at new clubs try and do this.

No one has been brought into replace Baker, O Brien gets mentioned yet was supposed to offer the energy baker never in the beloved 5 3 2 system Pressley employed and imagined would work, with O'Brien coming in as a more inside midfielder making late runs.

Time to let this go.

Baker has earned legendary status at this club for one good season in which we as a team achieved nothing. Says it all about our fans tbh. Get over him.

Baker is a decent League One player who unfortunately was bought to play in the Championship where he was nowhere near good enough.

One thing you can say for Andy Thorn as a scout, he certainly looked to the future with most of the players he was involved in scouting for us.

So the CT, Pressley and many others have stated that Baker was let go for Footballing reasons yet people still insist they know different due to wage he was on? Makes all the sense in the world!

Fair play to Baker, me personally I'd of kept him, but that's just me..

O'Brien was brought in to play RM in a 442 until Pressley started playing football manager pre season with the 5-3-2. O'Brien was Bakers direct replacement.

Err no Baker was let go because he was not going to fit into the 5 3 2 system which Pressley decided he would go with this season, so for footballing reasons and financial he would be released.

OBrien has done more running this season then baker ever managed anyhow so everyone needs to stop crying who lost his form last season when the going got tough, lost the captaincy, was quiet as a mouse as the captain, had one good game in 6, and has left the club.

I remember when he was the boo boy of many.

Back the players we have more.

Nah, the formation was Pressleys convenient excuse at the time. O'Brien was brought in as a direct replacement for Baker

http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sp.../watch-steven-pressley-regret-letting-8070176

'When I recruited for the summer, I recruited for 442'

'Terrific replacement in Jim O'Brien'

'Jim is a player I brought in to replace Carl'

'Arrival of Jim O'Brien couldn't guarantee him that' (Talking about 1st team football for Baker)

Pressley made the footballing decision to pick O'Brien ahead of Baker and then we couldn't afford to have on of the highest paid players being only a squad rotation player. Although I'm yet to be convinced that O'Brien is a better player than Baker.

If that's the case doesn't that point to a problem with SP, how many other players can't he get to perform to their full potential?

Again that would lead me to question SP's role in this. He has changed the 'Coventry way' and now we're sitting in 18th, 2 points off the relegation places, struggling to even have a shot on target. Meanwhile MK Dons, who's system Baker seems to have no problems fitting in with, are sitting in 3rd, 2 points behind the leaders with a game in hand. Baker is scoring goals, creating goals, multiple MOTM awards and nominated for player of the month. Seems to me SP picking a system that played to his strengths might have been a better option than getting rid.

If Bakers wages equals the amount of Tudgay and Shaun Millers, then surely that shows the delusions of Stephen Pressleys recruitment credentials.

EDIT:

Blair Adams wages = Sick note Pugh, another screw up.
CBA to think of more, but you all can easily add to it.

In SP I don't trust.

At the time I could see why he let Baker go, highest paid player, getting old now and will be on the decline soon. Although in hindsight it looks poor business at the moment because of how well Baker has started at Milton Keynes and also because Pressley failed to effectively utilise the wages saved on Baker.

Adams one was just puzzling, no reasoning at all behind it. He was at a really good age and I thought a good player. Pugh is 32 and constantly injured

Why is it some people will never consider themselves to be wrong?

He is now part of a club punching well above their weight. He is one of their best players. And I suppose we are not missing his goals or him setting up shots. But don't worry you must be right.

And we have no chance of having a player that we would consider to be a legend. We sell every player as soon as they are worth anything.

Can you explain how MK are punching well above their weight, as its been well documented that they are one of the best footballing sides outside of the championship and even though they lost their best player in Gleeson in the summer still sit second, after numerous years inside the top 8 in league one.

Have we been top 8 at all at the end of a season in this league?

They also run their squad within their means yet still attract young talent from the premier leagues elite who trust MK will look after their player.

And if some think Baker deserves Legendary status here for a few tweets and acting like hes everyones mate, whilst having one good half season, then fook me shoot me now as what does that make the likes of Hadji Chippo, McAllister,Nillson,Keane,Huckerby,Nuddy,87 team, even David Thompson, etc etc etc.

All MILES better than Baker.

Punching above their weight?!

Look at their squad and squads of past seasons, if anything they've vastly underachieved. He's only got into their first team in the past month and their fans wouldn't class him as one of their best players.

We have an ample replacement in JOB who throughout his career has performed better and at a higher level than Baker.

Baker was average under Pressley, it was only in the brief stint under Robins playing in a 4-2-3-1 where he performed, funnily enough that's the same system MK play. So he would more than likely be ineffectual in our current 4-4-2 hit it and hope system.

Player moves to new club and plays well shocker!

Baker stagnated and went backwards as a CCFC player in his last season.

Looks like you answered my question without meaning to.

Sell their best players. Get by with other clubs castoffs and players loaned to them. Yet well known for good football and looking good for promotion this season. That to me is punching above their weight.

Whereas we sell our best players and sign many more players than they do and struggle to even get a shot on target. That is underperforming.
