Thoughts? - Should he have walked straight back into the starting line up?

Was foolish to get sent off against Leicester, and hadn't played particularly well up until that point.

I thought he was pretty woeful Saturday. Didnt look interested, all his movement was behind or in line with the ball, when at times there was so much space for him to move forward down the line. Gave the ball away on the majority of his passes, and got caught in posession a fair few times. Only thing of note, i can remember him making a slide tackle in the first half that he didnt get sent off for.

I know we shouldnt really play too many youngsters at once, but with the hype surrounding Thomas and the fact he seems to play well when he comes on, should he have been giving a chance ahead of Baker, who just walked back into the side after not realling standing out previously and his foolishness in the Leicester game?

I think he has it in him, we know that from when he first joined.
He used to skip past players and create great scoring opportunities, but when hoofroyd took over he lost so much confidence, and playing long ball didn't help the was he plays.

At times we have seen the same baker as before but playing left mid with a poor left foot doesn't work as he hasn't got the pace or even have fantastic cross, put him CAM I can see him at his old ways skipping past players and possibly seeing him get more than 10+ goals, like he did before christmas at stockport before joing us.

I think his lazy kind off play, is cause he isn't getting played in the right position and hasn't really had a great time here, if he gets a goal I can see him getting his confidence back and seeing a carl baker we want to see.

Heres an idea that *may* work. Play him up top with Jutkiewicz and let him drop just behind Jutkiewicz in the same way O'Donovan and McSheffrey when played as the "second striker". Its a position where he used to score a shed load for Stockport and one I feel he would be more comfortable in.

We've tried alot of other things in a bid to get goals this season which hasn't come off. Out of the Bell, Baker and McSheffrey "axis of mediocrity", I'd much rather see Baker get minutes.

However, Baker was poor on Saturday and seemed unwilling to take players on. Against Reading last home game of the season 2010-11, he looked excellent when he had a bit of licence to roam and run at players.
