The guys got a 50% win percentage since coming to the club and has taken us from just outside of the relegation to the brink of the playoffs.

I’m also pretty sure there was a post describing how Robins had done a good job at Stoke so far, despite them still being in a position where they could go down still.

Generally there were some very dramatic people on here saying we were in a relationship battle when we were 7 points off 6th and all the stats had us as one of the best teams in the division that couldn't take its chances .

Thats neither here nor there

Under lampard weve had 3 periods

His initial period where before the good run we took 12 points from 9 games which was fine for a new man , then we proceeded to win 10 from the next 12 which was amazing and we got ourselves into an amazing spot .

We were left with 11 games where we had some very very favourable fixtures and instead of making it easy weve gone back to early lampard form and have picked up 13 points from 10 games.

The purple patch is not the norm

This response is to the wrong person btw , was supposed to be for @Lamps

Can we split those three periods into Collins - Dovin - Collins?

Who knows?
Its a highly competitive league with a lot of similar teams with similar ambitions and who knows who will do what to gain an edge on the others?
It couldn't us, but I certainly don't expect it

The home form since he arrived is not a purple patch unless you consider November-April a short time. Things picked up results wise on the road, they’ve since tailed off and that’s what’s behind the overall drop in form.

At home it’s held up.

We managed OK with Collins last year. But like Wilson he requires a functioning defensive unit in front of him. Ultimately it’s the managers job to work with what he’s got. Dovin was keeping us in games but that’s hardly a glowing statement about how we were set up.

And I was one of the most vocal in support of Robins

So it means nothing that we were 2 points out of the bottom 3 but are now in the top 6 with 1 game to go after losing our best players through injury?

Birmingham, Wrexham, Sunderland, one of the other 5-10th crew like Millwall or Boro has a decent season. Well be one of about 8-10 teams fighting over three spots.

We have these issues every season mate , last season at Southampton we had to bring on Adrian dausch , we are a typical championship side .

If we miss out after being in the playoffs 11 games ago with favourable fixtures its a failure to me .. but we move on and he gets another season and if we miss out next year he goes

I think thats fair tbh

How do you define favourable though?

A simple look at the league table doesn’t do it much justice. Looking at the form table, Derby, Luton and Plymouth are 6-9th and had stronger home records than their league position and we played Sunderland, Sheff U and Burnley.

For example, many people were anxious about playing Sunderland because they’re 4th. Looking at the form table, WBA and Sunderland were our ‘easiest’ games based on their overall (and away) form and our home form. Boro are level with us (and Hull) in the form table and behind Pompey, Derby, Plymouth, Stoke and Luton.

To demonstrate, Luton played Bristol, Boro, Blackburn and ourselves since March and only lost v Blackburn. Plymouth won their home games v Norwich, Sheff U and ourselves. It’s an odd time of the season.

Likewise, when we won 10 out of 12 games we were fortunate to be playing teams above us at home and teams generally on a downward trajectory of form. Momentum is particularly important in the championship because the games come quick and fast.

I just don’t see how you can look past 3rd and 4th pretty much every year TBH. To break into that requires either a heap of luck or a heap of cash. Even the gap between parachute and rest of Championship is widening as the gap from promoted to PL is.

Increasingly find myself telling myself I’d be fine with never getting promotion. It’s a fun league if you’re up the top of it.

dropped 4 points against cardiff too under frank btw who are relegated

I haven't said I wouldn't see it as a failure. Lampard has made mistakes and I hope he has learned from them. I called him out for setting us up wrong against Plymouth before we even knew what team he was putting out. It was so obvious that I said exactly how they would play and named their two goalscorers.

He is still learning. I'm prepared to give him time. But I'm not going to keep quiet when I can see him getting it wrong.

Sunderland comfortably in 4th this season. Who saw that coming??
There is so much unpredictability outside of the top 2 or 3 and even that got disrupted last year by Ipswich.

You need a very wealthy owner who's basically willing to bend or flat out completely ignore the rules and hope to get away with it. I have a sneaky Birmingham will try this as this message of 'more revenue than anyone outside the parachute clubs' sounds like, firstly, complete bollocks, but secondly, we're gonna break the rules and go for it.
Of course if that doesn't work out they could end up in complete shit so i'm not sure even that is a good idea.

I don’t buy the Birmingham or Wrexham hype. Both will stay up but look at Plymouth 2 seasons after getting 100+ points in L1.

Why Sunderland? They started the season exceptionally well and have tailed off massively. If they lost in the playoffs and they start the 25/26 season slowly, you can certainly see their manager getting sacked.

If we beat Boro at the weekend, Carrick will probably be done there. Their team is more unbalanced than ours and they’ve gone backwards from 22/23.

As a fan base, we have a lot to be optimistic about and we’re building on a top end Championship squad. The underlying data metrics before Lampard suggested were up there and the actual league table since Lampard has come in doesn’t lie.

I think to some extent you’ve got to hold off on judging style and quality until he’s got his own squad in this window tbf. It may be he wants us to play a way he doesn’t have the personnel for right now.

We have been very mediocre though. A few good halves and a couple of good games aside I don’t think we’ve looked better than an average Robins performance. And our floor has been much lower. We’ve turned in four or five performances that previously we’d only see once a season.

Birmingham and Wrexham are financially ahead off virtually every championship club - with the exception of any parachute payment teams. Both of them aiming for the Top 6 next season I’m sure

More Ifs than Rudyard Kiplings publishers there.

Were the same as WBA Millwall Norwich Boro Bristol Sunderland. If we start slowly we could sack our manager. We have failed off. These are all traits of play off chasing sides in the Championship of which we are one. If a team breaks away like Ipswich it Sunderland it’s usually an element of fluke or a ton of cash. And Wrexham and Birmingham will almost certainly outspend Plymouth and even on the same spend could likely attract better because of their hype.

I kind of agree. But you never know the state of the clubs getting relegated from the Prem. This season it was the turn of Luton.

Next season could be very interesting. Leicester? Their supporters are boycotting. They should be getting a points deduction. Their main striker qualifies for his free bus pass in a few years. Southampton? Trying to break records but all for the wrong reasons. Both sides will have to change their squads.
