He'll come on with 20 to go

Think Preston will be fighting for their lives and get a draw, so hopefully finish 5th

Surely you’d rather be in with chance.

I just don’t get people saying they’d rather loose.

Play off defeat horrible, but that’s what it’s all about.

In the scenario where you know you’re going to lose I’d rather lose at Bramall Lane than Wembley.

What permutation are you betting on for 7th? Boro win?

Looking at both Bristol’s and ourselves own home form, it’s unlikely we both drop out. The bookies and data analytics still strongly favour things to stay as they are.

The Opta super computer reckons both games will be draws whilst Blackburn and Millwall lose.

I can see PNE drawing v Bristol because it more or less guarantees PNE stay up and Bristol make the playoffs. Both teams also draw a lot of games!

A bit of fun because I don’t usually gamble, but I put on the following accumulator this weekend:

Bristol v PNE - draw
Burnley v Millwall - home win
Cov v Boro* - home win
Derby v Stoke - draw
Portsmouth v Hull - draw
Sheff U v Blackburn - home win
WBA v Luton - away win

*I won’t bet on the Cov game!
Yeah, that makes sense. Only thing I would say is that the last day nearly always throws in one or two completely unexpected results.

I can actually see Luton losing at WBA to be honest. Albion will definitely want to finish the season on a high note and there might just be that little bit of complacency within the Luton camp, as they have done incredibly well to get out of the bottom 3 and it must have felt like they've done it.

They are obviously aware of the permutations, but I have seen so many articles stating "they should now survive," but I think it might prove to be a tricky game. If they did lose, Hull would only need a draw at Pompey to overtake them.

Other surprises might just be Bristol losing to PNE and unfortunately....us.

Anyway, last day nearly always conjures up something unexpected

Got a feeling its going to be a stupidly open game, the phrase is "shit or bust" for Middlesbrough. They will throw the kitchen sink at it and if we dont have Thomas and Milan in the side it will be squeaky bum time at the back. Hopefully nick it by the odd goal but they can't play for a draw.

Lose against Blackburn? If we end up playing them we’ll beat them comfortably. Home advantage counts for a lot

think we will scrape passed boro but we need a serious up turn in performances to get through Sheff Utd, and some injured players back would be nice!

Yeah, I think so too.

If Collins plays you can definitely see Middlesbrough being told to get as many shots on goal as possible. I'd expect to see them shooting from everywhere or even just lumping balls towards the area cos Collins might have a rush of blood to the head.

I think we finish 6th but could well change my mind when i see our line-up on Saturday. Feels like we have potentially several key players out injured and a disaster waiting to happen in goal.

If we miss out its a failure , robins left the club 7 points off the playoffs not 47 points and weve always had a good squad , plus the added fact we had a great run and got ourselves in the playoffs with 11 games to go on 53 points and some very favourable fixtures still remaining .. weve managed 13 points in 10 games since so if we miss out its our own fault .. no excuses

Robins was finished here. We’ve been the 4th best performing club and it’s subjective if it’s a good squad. I think it’s average at this level and we have made a lot of poor signings.

No sorry , the same squad pretty much hit 9th and a cup semi last year ..

Weve added players plus grimes too who is a top midfielder at this level , you only have to listen to managers like chris wilder talk about our squad

Our form since hitting the playoffs has been very average and it teetering on poor especially if we lose saturday .

There's no excuse for us to fall away and if we do its a failure

In what way ? We will have finished on pretty much the same points as last year but without the great cup run and a better squad

We need to make the playoffs

We’ve improved our league position compared to the previous season and with a few astute signings we should be able to give it a proper go next season.

A proper go as in autos?
Because I just don't see that happening, under Lampard or anyone else for that matter.

No one would have had us in this position when Lampard came in. Most had written off the squad, easy to dig out the posts... its undeniable he's done a good job. His one true mistake may be sticking with Collins but the alternative is hardly great.

There's a difference between doing a good job and progressing the club.
He's certainly done a great job and got the season back on track k but whether he progresses the club, time will tell.

I just don't think that if we don't go up he'll get us challenging for the autos, currently 31 points behind, finished 30 points behind last season. That's asking a manager for miracles.

Consistently being in the playoffs from the start of the season and actually looking like going up. If we play Sheff Utd in the semis we’ve got no chance of going up this season.

Progress next season would be being in the top 6 for most of it a nailing a spot a few games before the end I suppose. That's my thinking anyway.

We were only 7 points from the playoffs mate when robins left , he did a good job mid season but its in danger of falling away as dramatically as last year .

10 points from our last 10 games if we lose , same as last season
