I was hoping Wright might make the bench today, probably just my wishful thinking.

Crazy how we’ve gone from “why have we got all these left wingers?” To “oh shit we’ve got no wingers” in about a month.

Simms needs to start firing now (would like Bassette on after 65/70 to work off simms). Not sure about rudoni on the left…didn’t really come off against Millwall. Thought sakamoto might be rested for this one. Can the defence keep their third clean sheet…big ask today I think but nice to see it settled.

Doesn't really excite me after seeing how that midfield performed on Sunday. (Mainly Torp's lack of dynamism in the advanced role he was in).

Cardiff are a completely different opponent to Millwall so it's fairly irrelevant. I'd like to see Rudoni back in his usual position but it could work.

That midfield is just so blah. Really hope we’ve got a dynamic midfielder lined up for this window.

Who would you play there?

Given a choice I'd say Diaz at Liverpool

That’s if he gets any chances, rudoni and sakamoto supplying him ? We didn’t create much at home

Thought Rudoni was dangerous out wide second half, beat his man a few times, is probably our best crosser of the ball and nearly scored. Need more from Torp, who I’m a fan of, but he didnt have a great game Sunday

If you've got one fit natural wide player why would you play that formation?

Not the best options but probably BTA. Direct runner allowing Rudoni a bit more freedom.

Come on Simms, it’s your time to shine and take the bull by the horns and make the position your own.

After a period of Bassette not hitting the net all you’ve gotta do is score and you keep your place.

It’s hard to watch someone score so many goals last season go through such a dry patch.

He could have played wing backs today with Simms and Norman strikers , but whatever we play I expect a city win as these are shit

Love it. “Need Simms to start firing now”, as if he’s been given much of a chance recently.

I actually think Rudoni is the best option personally but really like him in his usual position more.
Its a tricky one, unfortunate to have both Wright and EMC out really.

Gross, huge no thanks to wing backs from me. I'll take a square peg over that.

I thought Rudi did quite well out left against Millwall though he is more effective centrally.

I've not been that taken with BTA out on the left.
He does allow Rudoni to play down the middle obviously but I honestly think we're better off with Rudoni out wide and then maybe 60 odd minutes in putting someone like Rapha on and moving Rudoni back into the middle if we need to.
Sure, we don't actually know what he's about given we've seen nothing of him yet but at least he's a natural winger and both Robins and Frank seemed to speak highly of him.

Fair enough but frank himself played it at Everton so he's got it in his locker

Bench not that inspiring, glad transfer window is open now...
TBF at least we are not just chucking kids on the bench to make up in the numbers, which we have done in the recent past...

I’m gonna say 1-1. Simms OG, and Bassette off the bench.

Hope Simms is really up for this and shows some promise and threat.
Needs someone to thread passes into channels for him. Maybe Torp can step up...
A clean sheet would be a real positive as well.

They have just beat Watford away so they will be on a high. I fancy 1-1 with Simms to score

Yeah since 22/23 whenever we’ve tried wingbacks it’s been turgid shite.

Think it would be good for Simms if he's been told he's going to get a run of games rather than going out thinking he's got 60 minutes to impress before he's subbed off.

He's had long dry patches for most of his career here, he didn't score until the end of September in his first season and then didn't score again for months. Scored in just one of his first 24 appearances for the club.
