Stoke N/a lost 1-0
Oxford 5th won 3-2
Bristol 7th drew 1-1
Norwich 20th lost 1-0
Watford 3rd drew 2-2
Swansea 11th lost 2-1
Leeds 6th lost 3-0
Blackburn 2nd won 4-0

So ignoring Stoke as it was the first game of the season, 6 of the other 7 first games of the we played a team that was in the top half, 4 of which were in the play offs at the time we played them.

2 or 3 decent teams but a worse return

Who is coming across as somehow ‘happy’ after watching that?

This is a huge window now because so far, Plymouth aside, we have seen nothing encouraging. If these players really are so garbage then Lampard needs to be making some serious demands and doing a lot of business.

Which goes completely against the model of a successful football club that King supposedly wants to recreate.

You don't bring in a new manager/head coach to then rip up everything assembled previously. The whole point is they get more out of the team than the previous incumbent & have a (relatively) smooth transition. Look at the likes of Brighton, they move from Potter to De Zerbi to Hurzeler almost seamlessly.

King believes he has assembled a top 6 "deck". Dispensing with the bulk of them & replacing would cost a fortune & set us back years.

It's not crying, it's just reminding you that you're grown blokes and not teenage girls writing about one direction.

It's fucking cringeworthy that people literally force themselves to make things up because of it.

I mean we don’t. There’s no law that says you have to keep a bad manager around. You are allowed to get a good one in.

We are devoid of game changers. Vik and Hamer were that in amongst an arguably even poorer selection of players. They are the sort to lift and inspire the people around them to be better.

Wright and EMC arer closest we've got, but not convinced they are the same level.

And not having someone of this mould in midfield is killing us. It should be Sheaf - it arguably has been Sheaf previously - but this year he's a shell of a player.

I'm still dumbfounded by the drop off from last season though...
EMC and Wright are both game changers, it’s unfortunate that neither are fit.

In midfield is where our issues truly lie. Eccles, Torp nor Sheaf are bad players. However, they’re just all more or less the same player, there’s no variety in midfield and none of them are comfortable with a) putting balls behind the opposition defence and b) picking the ball up in midfield and dribbling past players.

We play risky football in our own and middle thirds. When it comes to their opposition third, we’re just far too safe. A couple of times we could’ve tried to play in Simms, Bassette and BTA but too often they’d take the easy route out and play it out wide, and back…

Least you might get a couple of likes and ring of steel trying to give you a reach around.

It seems that when it's pointed out that people are being embarrassing still crying about robins every week, the best come back is "get used to it and log out"

Nice one, it's like Eminem writing Stan some of the posts on here with their fan fiction.

No, it's the fact that the mere mention of disappointment in current performances has you frothing at the mouth about people crying about Robins.

No one is allowed to criticise Lampard or the performances otherwise they're 'crying about Robins'

Of course it's a worse return, we didn't play 5 games against the worst 4 teams in the league, and played against teams who at that time were in form.

agreed, they’re not. They’re just playing nowhere near their potential. We desperately miss some leadership

More generally some of the comments about Lampard on this thread are OTT. It’s not been amazing but none of these are his players and results wise it’s hardly that bad. This has been without our best player and then losing his replacement, who was our inform player since lampard landed for the last two.

Lets at least give him a window or two and a bit of time before judging

We were given a lifeline by the referee today, and we failed to make that advantage count. I will say what I have said several times, and the problems we have are largely down to the players themselves. The selective application of most of them is shocking and Lampard/Robins don't really come into it in that respect. Of course there are many fair criticisms further down, but I really think the players themselves are too weak mentally and lack the application needed to be consistently successful.

MvE just looks like Dabo in disguise, and that run he made only to turn back and pass it to one of our CB's sums it up perfectly. He's fallen off a cliff as a player. Sheaf is getting a lot of stick today, but his scores will still be pretty high on the stat websites because he just passes a lot in safe positions. I'm not seeing anything today that is particularly worse than I usually see from him, I think people are just starting to notice how much of an issue he is for the team and it is finally catching on. He is one of a few players that realistically need to be moved on as soon as possible.

I am very curious how the transfer window will go, but we need some help definitely. Today was another game that has gone by which frankly isn't good enough. Sad to see really. Happy New Year to all on SBT!

Two trains of thoughts .. Jan transfer is always a panic , why pay over the odds on a side that will finish mid table and wait till summer.
Shore up with experience asap in Jan and start building now.
my personal view is I think Lampard will have a view of one or two he wants in and then invest in the summer. We are not a million miles away and 2 or 3 good buys is all we need.

Tbf it's always easier to up your game when you're losing, you have nothing to lose, the pressure is off. It's making decisions and being brave when games are finely balanced that takes back bone.

But they had a very good spell last season, which is why this all doesn't add up to me.

This isn't a slight drop off, they've gone to absolute dogshit.
Maybe Brighton is right that they lack on pitch leadership to galvanise them?

You have people making things up about the game to push an agenda.

"Leave us all to see who has the best robins eulogy after every game.

If we win we could make out Mark would have had us win by more. If we draw we could make out we should have lost and were lucky.

If we lose it makes it easier because we just say "Elite tactician" and get some easy likes"

If you don't want to get called out when you post the same cringeworthy stuff then that's on you.

Slightly worse teams we've played 5 of the 8 against teams in the bottom 4. Lampard couldn't have had an easier run in.

And I thought Robins should go.

I don't think Lampard is useless I'm not seeing any improvement in the way we play.

Ok so you think we’ve got a good squad.

You think Lampard is to blame for poor results now, but Robins isn’t to blame for results earlier in the season

If you can’t see your inconsistency there then I give up
