I understand why Robins gave the captaincy to Jamie Allen as he works his socks off for the team. However, I think he has had 3 of his worst performances in the last 4 games. We have also witnessed collapses and disorganisation in that time. We need someone more vocal.
There is definitely a lack of leadership without McFadzean, Kelly and Godden, so it isn't easy to see obvious alternatives in their absence. For me, especially since his discipline has improved no end, it should be Hamer. If not, then Rose.
Any thoughts?

I vaguely remember Robins saying Allen is one of the quietest lads so a strange decision to make him captain.

Bidwell for me, only one that seems to organise anything at set pieces etc.

Never understand why people think Allen offers anything.
He s as fit as a butchers dog and runs forever.
Thats the plus point.
Hes never within a metre of the opposition players. They have time to control the ball and pass it before Allen runs off to the next player who just does the same.
Hes so weak on the ball, easily brushed off when he gets it and maybe does a tackle a game.
Hes a very weak link in the midfield.

Allen's main problem is that everyone else on the pitch is a split second ahead of him, so he often gets caught on the ball or doesn't read his teammates movement.

This is an interesting one as you can have so many different styles, abilities and personalities as captain.

Ultimately I think players pick the captain not the manager or fans.

Unless you have a George Curtis, Terry Yorath, Don Mackay or Jack Charton; who pins everyone to the dressing room wall one by one and says I'm Captain right? Those guys pick themselves!

You are being kind everyone on the pitch is a FULL second ahead of him, he is always late on closing down he gets blown off the ball and seems at times not to be aware he is being closed down, time and time again when he recieves the ball in space with his back towards the oppos goal he never turns and nearly always plays it back, he was decent for us in the lower league but at the very very best he is a squad player...If it wasn't for his energy I don't think he would get a game for us and as to being captain...jokes !

If we’re looking for a new leader/ cb, Curtis Nelson at Cardiff is available this summer. Only 29 and lots of experience, maybe worth a look, rumours Derby are after him.

It does seem really strange to have a player who is described by others including the manager as quiet, to do a role like this.

Anyone that's been on a football pitch can tell you that.

Not really, it's possible to have a different personality on and off the pitch, IMO.

Have you ever seen him communicating much on the field? We’re quiet as a team.

I've never really looked out to be honest - agreed that we're quiet and have long been pretty meek in general.

Being vocal isn’t necessarily required to be a good leader

While fadz is out, hamer or Bidwell for me. Hamer has improved his discipline since the early part of the season and Bidwell is currently the most experienced head in the defence.

Allen is not up to it unfortunately and has looked out his depth a lot this season.

If anyone saw the recent Jamie Allen interview, you can see why he isn't captain material.
He struggled to string a sentence together, he also looked scared of his own shadow.
Never a leader imo.

Are you serious? If your leadership role is on the football pitch, you absolutely need to be vocal.

Since I can’t attend matches, unless it’s Swansea or Cardiff away, maybe Brizzle, I have no idea who’s the most vocal/loudest player in our team; who is it?

In my experience, it’s usually the big gob, flapping his arms around at set pieces who would be ideal captain material. I remember Kevin Richardson doing a lot of that, and he was a decent captain of a relatively bang average City side.

I have seen Allen getting stuck in with refs to be fair to him.

Haven't noticed if he's overly vocal with the other players or not.

Anyway the captaincy is largely a token gesture anyway. The most vocal players will stand up and be heard regardless of who is wearing the armband.

If the club is to move forward then Allen needs to move on. I’ve never since day one seen what he contributes to the team. Working your balls off is a given but I agree with everything written on this thread. Offers nothing for me.

He was strange at his Tavern interview. Not many braincells and very shy.

Says a lot when he's captain.

Even Sheaf is a little shy. If the going gets tough, we look like a bunch of lost puppies.
