I was very impressed with Captain Sheaf yesterday. Not just the way he was playing but the way he was conducting himself as a captain.

Watch him on the highlights during the sending off & during MVE’s goal celebrations and especially at the end of the game, making sure MVE didn't get into anymore trouble.

Definitely growing into the role of captain. He’s one of the best midfielders in the division.

Some will tell you he’s not because he misplaces a pass now and then.

What midfielder doesn’t misplace the odd pass

Yesterday there was more space than in most championship games and Sheaf thrived with it.

Seem to remember in a player interview during a summer camp they picked Sheaf as the most likely to become a manager. You can see it too with how he conducts himself and impacts the game.

Looking forward to seeing him alongside Torp in a few weeks

He seems to be quite a reserved lad. I remember at the end of the Middlesbrough playoff game, him being forced by other players to get in front of the fans while his name was sung.

From memory he’s quite the chef, I remember when he joined he had a cooking page. It’s always good to know he looks after his body with good nutrition

Something about his appearance and demeanour reminds me of England’s greatest manager, Gareth Southgate.

If Kelly moves on there will be a spot for club captain and one or two candidates Sheaf obviously one then there’s Kitching but I’ll put one forward, COH should he sign a new contract.
Has the Kevin Keegan factor about him loves our club, fans, enthusiasm and a great player to boot.

I can't see COH as captain, I love him and I'm desperate for him to stay but he's too 'Tigger' for the captain role and could never do what Sheaf did yesterday.

Sheaf does all the non flashy stuff as well as any midfielder in this league. Has the full respect of all his team mates and always puts in a full shift. Low profile Mr Coventry. Cracking bloke.

In the top 10 players in the league according to WhoScored, and the best CDM in the league.

A phenomenal footballer, everything we have offensively is enabled by having him in CM. Wins the ball when he has absolutely no right to, time and time again. Love the man

Obviously above Godden in the pecking order now. I noticed on city unseen after Milan’s goal Viveash called Kitching over giving him some instructions whilst everyone was celebrating I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up as captain.

Surprised this thread hasn’t triggered anyone yet.

He’s always been a class footballer and he continues to improve by adding new aspects to his game and growing new skills too, such as the leadership qualities highlighted in this thread.

We’re lucky to have him and I’ve no idea why anyone would be anti-Sheaf.

Was tempted to start the same thread.

Alongside the return of COH, and change of formation, Sheaf as captain may have been a factor in our improved form.

TBF, COH would make a good captain actually.

Haha it's really odd you say that, because when I watched the game back I thought 'He looks a bit like Southgate there'. I mean, he looks nothing like him and that sounds like a massive insult to Ben cuz he's a much better looking bloke, but it's very odd I thought the same thing for the first time this weekend

We were talking about the best/most important signings after the match on Saturday and the likes of Doyle/McNulty/Kelly/O’Hare/McFadz/Godden/Vic/Hamer are all quite rightly mentioned.
Sheaf always gets forgotten about in this regard.

He was superb Saturday, only thing I thought he got wrong was dithering in possession in the build up to their penalty but even then he was far from most culpable for it. I think Robins referred to it after the game.

I don't think Sheaf was at all at fault. It was a mix up between van Ewijk and Thomas.

I think Sheaf is still developing but is already showing enough potential to be a premier team target before too long.
