Robins reveals what City can expect from new boy Reise Allassani

Coventry City midfielder Michael Doyle believes the next step for the Sky Blues is to get replicate this season and force their way into the Championship, writes Steve Wollaston.

The Sky Blues skipper has called on the club he calls 'his club' not to rest on their laurels and to keep pushing forward.

Speaking as the dust settles on the Wembley Play-Off Final success, Doyle believes the club have the right ingredients to build for a solid League One season.

He stated: "Next year we will start again and try and replicate it again.

"I came here to try and get this club back to the Championship where it should be and where it belongs.

"We need to build on this now, we can't rest on our laurels.

"It's been a tough season and we have done well at changing the way we play and stepping up as a squad when players have moved on.

"Everybody in football wants instant success, that's what it is all about. For us though it was about keeping calm and keep building.

"We have good staff and players buying into it and we hit our peak at the right time over the play-off semi-finals and the final.

"We have been a good team to watch and to top it all off like this is fantastic.

.............

"I was exhausted at the end of the game and I am looking forward to a break now."

Not that the subject of Coventry City will be far from the sun-lounger or the dinner table, Doyle admits that his whole family have caught the Sky Blues bug.

He said: "I can't wait to spend some time with my wife and kids now, they sacrifice everything for me and my football.

"My wife is a big Coventry City fan and she was in tears when I walked up the steps.

"The kids are Sky Blues fans too and that bond just gets stronger on days like Wembley.

"It's my club now and I will stay here and it will be my club for the rest of my life.":emoji_heartbeat::emoji_heartbeat::emoji_heartbeat:
