....Clingan is an awful captain, just saying.

Our recent wins were without him, look what he does today!

He has no interest in being here at all, i have no interest in seeing him in a Sky Blue shirt again

Bit of a knee jerk reaction, but I am inclined to agree with you. He has been useless not only today, but pretty much all season

Would't say he's been useless.

Just anonymous.

Isn't this what Clingan is all about-look at the evidence of the performances at the end for his last clubs...thats why they all think he is a twat.

The bloke hadn't even had a touch of the ball before the penalty, someone else should have taken it,

I was a fan of Clingan, but his performances this season just sum up our team, throw him out with the other garbage,

When we lose we blame the manager, blame the coach, blame, the captain, blame the ref. The simple answer is in the main our players are not good enough and we are where we are because of that. I caught bits and pieces off the radio and the only names I heard were Nimely and Norwood just about perhaps with Keogh the only players with any real quality.

I'm so pissed off with him. Took the pen when he hadn't even had a touch. Total WANKER.

Sheffers should have held the ball like he did some few seasons back, I forget when it was, but I recall him snatching the ball even when someone else was on a hat trick? (I think).

selfish move from him to take the penalty, wanted personal glory ahead of team glory

I didn't notice Keough give Clingan the armband but heard he did. Did this happen?

I seem to remember him wearing the armband while waiting to take the penalty.

Was it selfish for glory?
Or brave to take responsibility?

OTT reaction. Penalties get missed. Meanwhile the defence escape blame AGAIN, despite 2 more bad goals against.

Incidentally it was McSheff who took a penalty when Stern John was on a hat trick and we were 2 up a few minutes from time.
Only time I have ever booed a City player... It was a disgraceful act by McSheff.

McSheffrey let Bjarni Gudjonnsson take a pen v Preston when he was on a hat trick, he missed.

When a player is on a hat trick and the game is safe it is the done thing to allow the hat trickster to take it. Makes no odds that McSheff was pen taker normally, this was not a normal situation. McSheff should have done the right thing and let Stern take it. The fact that he did not demonstrates he was not interested in teammates or morale just personal glory.

I've played for and heard of managers who go mental if you Start handing out pens. He was prob just being professional and carrying out Adams orders

What about today then? A player with a pen record for us of scored one missed one who has just stepped on pitch as sub,who won't sign a new contract v a player who has a top pen scoring record and scored 2 in one match just a few weeks ago. if the bookies were pricing that up i know who'd be fav to score.

Very disappointed to hear you booed. It's not a kick about in a park with some mates, it's professional football. Sheff was the penalty taker and was quite right to take the pen. I though Stern John's reaction was childish at best.

Regardless of the rights and wrongs of the situation, for the dynamics of the season, the confidence to keep a striker scoring and the man in form, then it had to be Sheffers. It's inexcusable that Clingan took this and he should have been big enough and experienced enough to have realised this. We were 2-0 down so in all probability it didn't affect the outcome and Sheffers may have missed too, but recent performances without the wantaway who shouldn't be captain, would suggest that we are a better side without him - certainly at home when we're trying to be more offensive.

Btw Oakey, you said last week that the love in for Keogh was tedious, well so is your damning of the defence. The reason this season has been poor has a lot more to do with the lack of goals that we've scored and I think their second goal (imo) was hardly a lone defensive error since we managed somehow to turn a promising looking attck into a shambles.

It wasn't right to boo - he was the manager's designated penalty taker. Would've been unprofessional to let someone else take it that day. John was the selfish one.

When Thomas came in for Clingan, we got a few wins, (co-incidence?) get Thomas the fuck back in!

Clingan isn't staying, so has no interest in our league position at the end of the year really. i for one would not be playing him let alone have him as captain

He's not been a good captain all season, as a captain you should know which players react to a telling off and which ones need simple encouragement or their heads will go down. He's not react to that all season and especially with the younger players like Gael who has now disappeared due to lack of confidence. For me it's Keogh all day long, he acts as a captain even without the armband. The penalty yesterday sums up Sammy Clingan...his ego went before the best interests of the team, he's trying to put himself in the shop window so he can leave in the summer.

Lots of interesting points. Let me point out a fact to chew on...
At Forest we gave an abject display, with no pace, movement, ideas or passion. Keogh was captain and Clingan was injured.
scapegoating will get us nowhere.
Whoever pulls on the shirt should get unconditional support from now on, ESPECIALLY when they make mistakes.

He is a cock of the highest order and the only leader he is for me is that of the back and sidways passing club.
