Cancel the boycott (1 Viewer)

Why didn't we boycott any games last year when we raced to the top of the league in November/December?

What's drastically changed with the way we've been run since then?

I'm not baiting, I'm just curious.

Before the usual bores accuse me of being a "SISU apologist", I want them out. Preferably tomorrow if a viable alternative is available.

I never spoke to one person last night who was going to boycott, they all said the same thing, i'll march, but I'm going into the game.

Like myself, most are season ticket holders who've already bought their tickets. Good luck to those who are boycotting though.

I know who'll be the first to cry when Stevenson is sold off in January to cover the latest set of losses. Although the dwindling attendances are ultimately SISUs fault, we can't complain when they cover those losses by selling starlets.

The trouble with the boycott is that it is doomed from the start; if you had 2/3 K following them to Northampton these fans are not going to boycott a game on their own doorstep. We have to be more creative; the pigs were brilliant.

The trouble is, at the Ricoh it looks like a boycott every home game anyway, maybe try and reverse it and gather people's support in Coventry to fill the ground again like the Gillingham game, everyone with a Sisu out flag or banner.

No it's not a fantastic model but if the money isn't coming in what do you expect they'll do! Next you'll be telling kids not to play for the academy for fear they'll be turned into half decent footballers and therefore funding SISU

Sell it to me. I'm not a sheep I want to be convinced of the reasons for boycotting.

I would have thought that by now, most people would be aware of the different protests that have happened, including this one, and decided if they want to take part or not. Personally, I don't need it "selling" to me, or to have your questions answered as to how it will help. There are no good answers for that, as nobody knows how it will help. Maybe to keep doing something has a better chance of having some end result than doing nothing. Maybe that's enough for a lot of people?

Trying to keep my son interested. He loved last nights game so won't be boycotting.

Team really needs match day support. SISU will either fuck off or they won't but we shouldn't sleepwalk our way into L2 like we did in the Championship.

Our average attendance in that "sleep walking" season was 15,118. Match day support didn't help really did it?

exactly what i have been saying

this fan protest stuff has only hit next gear because we have been in bad form. some people actually think that if you are in top 6 budget is ok, if you are not budget must be cut etc

fact is we have a good squad,stacked attackign options ,talented midfield. the defence just needs working on and it sounds like venus is focusing on that come jan. we still have a chance of an exciting season if we can put 2-3 wins on bounce once in a while.

i know i sound like a broken record but its...........ONLY october

We're a selling club anyway, but sure as sure can be, the smaller the attendances the more players we will have to sell.

Ah, my apologies. i read this to mean that more support will give the team a better chance of avoiding relegation this season......

(which clearly didn't happen in the relegation from the championship)

Bottom line is SISU will leave when they are ready to leave.

Whether there is 30k or 300 fans inside the stadium it doesn't affect them.

Personally for me with the little assets we have it would be better for us and for SISU if we get as many up to the Ricoh as possible to show potential investors what our fan base is really like as a major selling point.

It also means we would have more money in the pot to secure better player contracts and if they don't come to fruition then maybe we can start blaming owners for not increasing the budget.

But that's just me and it's not going to happen.

Nothing is stopping the people inside the stadium continuing what will be going on outside of that stadium, that's called unity. Whether you want to do that before the game, at HT, then FT is a better option because you want to back the lads. You won't find many who have a problem with that.

Nothing is stopping everyone being involved for the march that starts at 2pm.

Don't ask people to cancel the boycott, and to the boycotters, don't ask people to boycott if they already have ST's or brought tickets. 1200 JSB's will be present at the game, or roughly that figure, so it's pretty hard for those parents to tell their children they're not going this weekend.

Where did I say that going to the game makes you deluded? It implied don't ask people to boycott, can half of you even read?

It was a figure of speech. Test it if you want, or if you can. Nobody is selling this boycott at all. Refer to FP's post earlier in the thread.

It has been sold, you're thinking these usual's on here make up an entire fan base, it's a small minority. Anything above 1000 is a success that will receive more media attention, just like we did for Charlton.

I have not been to any games since they left for sixfields.

It's not a boycott but I have just lost any vote of confidence in our owners commitments and ambitions towards my beloved club and can't see the Sky blues ever progressing.

All I have experienced in the last 9 years is failure and downward spiral. To be honest there is only so much one can take and I am now finding it difficult to commit to my club that I see slowly dying in front of me.

Thats how I feel and if people boycott or not that is there choice but the facts are many disappearing fans seem to have lost the love for the club and have moved on.

this thread is a prime example of how starved of success we are. we've beaten a newly promoted team who, a couple of season ago were non league, a team we shoudnt be in the same division as, but we are , and instead of trying to resolve a situation that will inevitably see us fall further away down the divisions , we are arguing amongst ourselves yet again. on Saturday some people have chosen to try and make a difference by organising this march and boycott of the match v the fucking mighty Rochdale, we have an opertunity to ,just for once , show some solidarity and unity. if you want change you have to make it happen. I love city , ive been going to games as long as I can remember , and its because I love city so much I will be marching and boycotting the ONE match on saturday. the team are ok they can win one without us this time, in two season none of them will be here anyway. if you choose to go to the game ,that's up to you, but don't knock those who are trying to force a change that would be better for everyone including you .

Blackburn's boycott this season barely got media coverage, they still had about 3000 fans turn up and the Venky's don't appear to be going anywhere. Our attempt will go the same way. The pig stunt at Charlton is the way to go. Something outside of the box that will grab media attention.

Great post, if fans can't see that people like me who was at Charlton are just trying to do anything to save this club from it's downward spiral, then hope is lost, and mine is diminishing enough as it is. People must think people like me enjoy it, telling my kids that we'll have to go watch Beduff Utd to get a fix of football instead of being at The Ricoh which is all they've known since they were born in 2009. Heartbreaking, but I believe it's the right thing to do.

No-one is knocking you or any of the other people who have chosen to boycott. The only people knocked on this thread have been those who have said they are going to the game.
