We get punished left right and centre they walk away with there millions and there business intact,what the fa should do is what the sfa done to that rangers chairman and fine him and ban him from running other companies,joy seppala should be punished like that its not fair they think they can destroy a football then walk away as if nothing has happened.

It may get worse, but surely cant be worse than all the depression on this site, and people speculating about all possible worst case scenarios.

The thing is I try not to worry about it until it happens, as until then it hasnt. May be simplistic but why worry about something that may never happen?

It could get a LOT worse - Thorn could sign a 5 year contract. Relegation every season. We can take over Cov Sphinx stadium then.

snozzer put forward a few points as to the position of a person put in a situation whereby he has absolutely nothing to deal with,
and yet many people wish to criticise that person,
in any job, as a manager, given the assumed constraints, do you seriously think you would be able to succeed ?
CCFC fans, to a man / woman, would hope for a level playing field,

It may help if you stop listening to your selves for just a moment or two.
Take a look outside the box. Try and place yourselves as say Crawley Town and then figure out who you would rather support and what expectation you think there is.
Try and apply that to CCFC. I'm sure every other club in league 1 are thinking that way.
Just look at league 1. Still think we will be hopeless?
We won't lose half the squad. We have a lot going for us so long as SISU come up with a bit more 'tinkering' finance.....it won't take a lot and they really have no other choice. If they get something positive out of the council negotiations then all well and good but for next season they have no option.

Put it this way...they would be mighty brave people to walk away and send us down a liquidation road. Just fail to see the gain in it.

Reason?


1. Sisu sell. Sisu have sold and have consistently sold. they have had to sell to try and fend off debts. We have no reason to believe they will do any different this season.

2. Estimation is that dropping a division costs around 4m in lost revenue to a club. That would therefore point to us selling probably more aggressively than we ever have done before.

3. Think most agree we need about 8 players. Can anyone see Sisu shelling out for 8 players? Only hope there is loans and loans where the parent club will be paying the majority of the wage.

4. We have no reason to believe that we would go to the likes of Crawley and win. City traditionally have struggled on many, many occasions against lower league opposition.

5. Where is this tinkering finance? We're going to bring players in I take it like we did at the start of last season? Err ..... 2 keepers wasn't it?

6. We have a losing mentality. We have had a losing mentality since god knows when. It's pretty much all we know. Why on earth would we think we will drop a division and suddenly have a winning mentality? No reason at all to suggest this.

7. Think it was Stupot who said that Sheff Weds and a few other teams had brought in something like 8-10 players lat season to strengthen. Why would anyone think we are going to strengthen? Surely the only thing that is going to happen is that if anything we will weaken the squad, not strengthen it. Best players for us last season? Nimely? Gone. Norwood? Gone. Cranie? Almost certainly gone. Keogh? Quite likely to be gone. Would say they were probably our best 4 players last season. Our squad looks like it is going to be weaker.

8. Kids and strength. A lot of strong physical teams in League One. Bigi? Not strong enough. Conor Thomas? Not strong enough. Clarke? Possibly not big enough or strong enough, though I do rate him highly. Baker? Gets knocked off the ball far too easily, but should be okay in League One due to his other attributes. Bell? Lacks the appetite for a fight. Sheff? The same. Deegan? Injury prone. Wood? Injury prone. McPake? injury prone. Platt? Injury prone and unable to play game in game out. For me there's only McDonald who I believe should excel at this level. The kids will still be learning and it is probably another season too soon for most of them.

As I say, we have had a losing mentality for many many years now and have been in the doldrums and feeling sorry for ourselves for an absolute age. Just can't figure out where this new found optimism is going to come from with club where the fans distrust the board and owners and where there are severe financial problems and doubts about the club's very future. Ohh and we are under a transfer embargo and haven't filed our accounts or paid the rent for 2 months! It's been all doom and gloom off the field to go with the doom and gloom on the field.

Don't need to look outside the box. Just need to be a realist.

Our only hope this season is in the loan system with generous parent clubs letting us have good players on the cheap.

Otis.... Point 4. My view is that we are on a level playing field now. Only the opposition will be thinking we are better than .them!

The losing mentality hovers over city fans. In my view the club is going to continue to be in crisis for the next decade if we are around. The next month will be pivotal with City season ticket holders making the decision whether to commit again. I feel like we were screwed last season with the way the team was taken apart.

In a few years city will not have a season tickets to underpin revenue (Unless city become a winning club in their league and attract young people).

Problem with point 4 is, we have lost many, many games against opposition such as this and that being with us having much better players and being in much higher leagues.

Any outsider here would look and see

1. A team that only won 8 games all season.

2. A club under a transfer embargo

3. A club that hasn't filed it's accounts.

4. A club that hasn't paid the rent for 2 months

5. A club that sells all it's best players, half the time without bringing in replacements.

6. A club that has had a losing mentality for many years.

7. A club that looks set to lose it's best players yet again (Nimley, Norwood for starters)

They also spent 3 times the amount we did on transfers last summer. 600 k at that level. You are right crawley town. Is the ideal club to highlight what we are all about at the moment.

And if you are looking for 'if's then what about we will be okay

1. If we pay the rent.

2. If we come out of the transfer embargo.

3. If we file our accounts.

4. If we aren't liquidated.

Good post Otis, point 3, Charlton and the two sheffield clubs have actually signed close to 20 players this season, with a mixture of permanent signings and loans.

Charlton - 18 permanent signings, 1 loan signing (total 19 signings)

Sheffield Wed - 10 permanent signings, 13 loan signings (total 23 signings)

Sheffield United - 9 permanent signings, 8 loan signing (total 17 signings)

As a life long supporter, I have never seen the club in such a grave state of health, it is inconcievable, That Sisu will adopt a different Strategy of properly funding us, rather than sitting back and watch the Club disappear of the Radar.
moreover its hard to ignore the writing on the wall, that clearly sugests we are on the brink of going into Administration, or even worse, the brazen way that Sisu, have withheld the rent on the stadium,in order to speed up the process is undeniable.
It is Sisu's/ "The ones who saved us" intention to but the blame on the council for the demise of the club,and as things stand at the moment, we havn't got a stadium to play in next season, as I cant see the council losing face and backing down on the rent.
we can only hope that the Hoffman group is still alive and waiting in the wings, and surely it must be clear to all, that the present situation,of transfer embargo's non filing of accounts, rental default,no player budget, just cannot continue.
If we are to open our Third division campagne next season,we certainly dont need injunction and counter injunctions flying arround, sorry lads, and especially you Torch, for being the eternal optimist, but things have never looked blacker in the history of Coventry city football club.
