I notice you didn't mention its football team? Odd.

Strange how it's too negative to suggest people go to games but ok to slate positive people and cry relegation before the season starts.

I'm only critical of the group of fans who I don't think are giving there all to the club, the fans who I believe aren't giving 100% support to the club. (Within reason allowing for any personal circumstances)

Stop being negative, you should be crying relegation and slagging off optimistic people!

Don't get him onto it, he's on a mission to mention bradford season tickets wherever he can.

Let his account go quiet again until the next court case. Until then he will defend city fans until the death, but only those who don't go to games and moan all the time. He wants people to be positive you see.

I disagree with 'HIM'
However HIM does not equat to 'idiots' on here
It equates to an idiot if that's the way CCFC feels.
I probably grouped CCFC's comment into stereotyping him with those numpties who run down their fellow fans at every opportunity and make our we are some freak football club that had crap fans

Yes but are they any different any other city in the country. Or with every football club does success increase attendances and failure reduce it?

Some suggest Coventry is some strange enigma. Where fans are particularly shit.

Are you obsessed? Seriously? It's weird. Won't let a bad word be said against those who don't go to games or cry relegation but crack on if they're optimistic.

Shame you didn't defend the fellow fans at sixfields. Shame you don't defend rfc when he says be positive. It's almost like you want people to be negative about the club the way you go on about it.

For Somebody who preaches so much about being positive really doesnt show it, you should be telling people to go to games and to be optimistic.

Yes, with the same thing. Defender of negative fans and people who don't bother, because you want everybody to be positive about the club of course.

Laughable how ironic it is and quite obvious that you want to try and stir a bit. Hence why you try to post the same sort of thing in different threads, related or not.

Well are fans are shitter than some clubs, are fans are better than some at other clubs and they are also similar to some clubs. On the shitness scale we're shitter than Leicester, Norwich, Southampton, Sheffield Wendesday, Sheffield United and a few other clubs that have played at this level, and similar to Bristol City, Preston, Huddersfield, Milwall, Wigan, MK Dons, Barnsley.

Which could lead into a whole new debate about how big the club is but I need to go asleep now.

You'd mention formation? From tonight's performance we have no formation. Too many similar players getting in eachother's way not knowing what there actually doing on the pitch. It might only be a friendly but going on this performace, we haven't got that killer instinct just like last season and we need some physical players because we got pushed off the ball and looked like school kids playing against grown ups.

I don't care basically what your negativity creates.
I believe we will have a sticky start which will bring out all the "it's the end of the world" posters, but I firmly believe we will kick on late October and by Christmas be top ten then very strangely for my club have a strong second half of the season and finish in the playoffs.

Would blow it apart if I could find the bloody thing. Got a rock behind my house and it is living there. somewhere. IT HAS actually shut up, ok 30 mins before it goes mating mad but not note from it. Could it be that I have my first good sleep for a week. If nothing on here, you know that I am sleeping. (out cold).

No he is now part of the groups of idiots who consistently said we were going down last season, they haven't posted tonight.

Nothing wrong with being wary of relegation, from February onwards we were in a relegation battle. The ones who annoyed me were those saying we were going down and given up with 10 games to play or saying we were going down when it would have taken a very unlikely set of results to do so. It's not like we were even entrenched the relegation zone for most of the season and did a great escape, we were always favourites to beat the drop yet the doom merchants couldn't see these facts.

Nearly well remembered.

There was many of us predicting relegation towards the end of last season. But the vast majority were saying 'If we keep SP' We ended up in the bottom 4 with the clubs above us pulling away. They got rid of SP and TM joined the roller coaster ride. He took us to safety. So they look to have been correct to me. How many can you think of that said we were doomed after TM joined us?

Main hope from pre-season is that the Ricoh boo-boys don't negatively jump on the passing style the side is developing.

There's a clear TM style, just lacking that spark in the attacking third!

The injury to Samuels was the big worry for me last season. That's when I was saying it would go to the last game.

Trying to be optimistic but squad wise and pre season wise, we are million miles from getting play offs this season. It all starts a week Saturday and hopefully things will change for the better. Gotta trust in the manager

Negativity? No I was giving an honest assessment of the performance last night. Anyone there would agree it was poor. We had no shape whatsoever. No matter how optimistic you are, we need a dramatic improvement and a lot of firepower in the final 3rd. Look at our record pre season. 4 games against lower opposition and no wins and 2 goals. People forget we were battling for relegation last year and from last night viewing we are on course for another relegation threatening season. We need more players desperately

we still have scope (budget) to bring in 2 signings and two loans. 3-4 players is a lot, around a quarter of a team. Plus players are still gelling. It makes it difficult when your striker options aren't in place. Pre season games don't reflect how teams end up performing.

I think we will finish 10th to 12th which will be good progress on last season.

And before we know it's our 5th season in L1 having never pushed for promotion once and finishing in the bottom half every time, crowds get lower than the year before, best players leave. We can't go on like this any longer, we want another year of losing more than we win? That's gone on for too long now, if we ever want to get rid of this losing mentality at the club and get rid of the tag 'Comfortable Coventry' we need to demand more from the team. Getting turned over 3, 4-0 at home by teams who aren't that good is accepted here and it's in our nature just to roll over and accept it as fans.

We don't go up or have a successful season in the JPT & cups, Mowbray is gone by his own accord. What other clubs accept 40(?) years of not finishing in the top 6 of any division, again 'comfortable Coventry' just happy to be playing the same teams year after year with no ambition to push for promotion.

I don't know what it is. Coleman came in and said the same thing there's losing a mentality at this club, couldn't change it and so did Boothroyd. Mowbray also said similar too, players turn up, play a game of football, not too bothered if they lose as long as they're picking up their wage every week. I'm guessing the culprits have already left the club or won't be playing this season.

When's it going to change? When are we going to in games expecting to win, not being happy with a draw or a '1-0 loss ain't that bad they're 14th in the table'.

I hope it finally changes this year, we've/are hopefully going to bring in players who are leaders and want to succeed (Vincelot and Ricketts) not players who are just happy to be here same time next year (Barton and Webster).

Not a rant at your post whatsoever WM more at the club and just accepting average every season and keeping the players who produced average at the club. I'm not just ranting because we lost to a League 2 team in a friendly, I was going to post this in a thread of my own but thought it'd be better off here.

And...relax.

Good post STP, and on the whole I agree.

I guess my point was looking at the squad and the fact that out of say, 20 players, about 5 are players TM chose. The rest are remnants of previous failed managers or kids. The kids technically look great but lightweight.

I do kind of think that as a club, we're due some luck and a good season. Everyone's excited by these new signings but there's nothing to say that Ricketts won't be another Webster or Vincelot another Doyle.

I think if people think TM is the new messiah (I've always been unsure and still am), I don't think he's going to change things in 12 months. I do get the optimism but if supporting Cov has told me one thing, it's that optimism is normally quickly followed by disappointment and realisation.

A lot depends what happens off the pitch but personally, I'm gearing up for a long slog and a finish between 10-17th this season. If Mowbray is the right man, he needs time. If we're 15th we shouldn't be calling for his head.

He needs time, we need stability.

Actually, that has reminded me. I want to thank you for your support when Nick, myself and others were getting slagged off for going to Sixfields. You were one of the only shining lights who said "Enough! I am just getting really peeved with people having a pop at fellow Cov City Fans."

Without being to over dramatic or sentimental, you kept me going, gave me the strength to carry on. I will never forget your courage for standing shoulder to shoulder with your fellow Cov City Fans.

Thank you.

Agreed with a lot of this. TM certainly needs time as do the players on the pitch. We should not get on the backs of youngsters the first time they misplace a pass or squander a good chance. For me anywhere top half this season will be significant progress and if we get there playing attractive and exciting football then I will be happy.
If by Xmas we are lower midtable we shouldn't be calling for the managers head and if we flirt with relegation come May he must still be given a couple more seasons. I can see some progress within the team but it will need a lot more time to get to the stage where we can realistically be promotion contenders

Never read anything into friendlies, as long as we are working out new formations, new players gelling, free of injury and playing a good standard of football then its fine with me, not worried in the slightest, TM knows exactly what is missing and is working on obtaining the right type of player instead of going gung ho and putting us back into the position of having strikers who still have no chance of scoring in a brothel that is free of charge.

It's not just strikers that we need LB87, we definitely need a goalie too. He Made some basic errors last night that in a league game in L1 may have been capitalised on by the opposition.

Glad I went out and missed the major overreaction to a friendly defeat, rumour has it that Jose is getting his P45 soon after Chelsea's 4-2 defeat to the NY Red Bulls reserve team. Oh wait.

Agree pre season is not the be all and end all but surely winning breeds confidence?

Equivalent If you were playing 5 a side and in the warm up took 4 pens missed them all then in the game had a pen your confidence is low

Only natural

So if City had won all 4 games so far 5-0 the confidence & momentum feeling within the squad would be exactly the same as it probably is at the minute?
