No but the reality is were currently beyond last seasons points tally .. the squad is coming together nicely and they've replaced pretty well , on the whole the team looks better , we were very much reliant on 2 people last year

If thats the Case MR needs to work with KP and let Callum play a bit part for the rest of the season! My opinion only!

To be fair I don’t think DK should just do anything to keep him

But I do think he should keep him till the summer, I think he’s worth more than a couple of million (estimate on if we sold him now), in our bid for the PO

poor business sense? Maybe

but we’ve got a damn side better chance with him

What a cretin this bloke is, like an attention starved teenager. He's got people in the comments hanging on his every word

If he doesn't want to sign what we are offering that's fine, no point breaking the wage structure for one player as it'll just lead to everyone expecting parity.

Happy for him to stay and make his decision in the summer. He's not about to down tools if he's shopping around for a new club. If he'd cost us what he's worth, I'd be p*ssed at the club but the timing of his ACL just means that it is what it is.

Lesson learned already with the contracts we're giving out now. If Palmer's serious about a career at this level or higher, he's got six months to prove it. Get to O'Hare's level over that period or he'll end up behind someone new next season.

tbf to the club, they did protect their asset here by giving a decent contract - not their or O'Hare's fault that he got injured just as he was about to be sold.

I don't mind players leaving for a new challenge or more cash - it's a short career and they have to look after themselves.

I do however mind:

1. Players that string the club along and then pretend like they love the place - Hamer turning up at every game he can pisses me off, you made your bed, lie in it.

2. Sycophants that will stick up for the player no matter what when it's been clear throughout the Robins era that no player is bigger than the club and we will progress with or without them example:

It would just indicate that it was all about money in the first instance. The agent no doubt has instructed Call to keep it zipped whilst tarting him around as many clubs as he can. At least COH could just say the contract doesn't meet his expectations.

a) it wouldn't - we'd be promoted and he'd have a chance to test himself at a higher level.
b) We'd have won promotion, and for a contract offer to still be there he'd have played a part in that, so why wouldn't we be happy if he signed? Would we be thinking the bastard, he helped us win promotion and now he wants to stay?!?

Callum is also an adult and aware of the risks. He could roll the dice and end up on £50k a week in the PL next season, he could also do his ACL in April and be unemployed come July.

Love him as a player and he seems great for the dressing room but if him and his agent are looking at it from a hard nosed business perspective we should support the club for doing the same.

Nothing suggests premier league football next year for him away from Coventry

Surely a wage rise incase of promotion is in the contract anyway

I'm of the opinion he should learn to type.

Bloke had a stinking rep when I was promoting gigs and club nights years back. Contributed nothing. Just a Yes Man that clung to local famous people. If they became actual famous, he had to find someone new to help with the Likes.

I'd love him to stay as for me he's the last member of the league 1 squad that's good enough for where we want to be. But..
1. Given his injury record there's an obvious risk.
2. I'm certain we'll have someone just as good lined up to replace him.
It's the pissing about I don't like.

I mean he's got to be close, as his previous contract would have him at the top of the pay tree as it was then. Sure, we've loosened it since then but also, sure, he's picked up two major injuries since then too. If he thinks he can get more elsewhere and wants to then fine, good luck to him. Wouldn't begrudge him that.

The question to ask is more how any offer compares to his previous contract, isn't it.

I guess that's why it's a take it or leave it offer at this point, no point being strung along a la Hamer again. As I've said before I think ultimately his primary motivation is playing at a higher level, so it makes no sense to sign a contract that might inhibit being able to choose to do that come the summer. The stuff about wage demands is just noise imo.

Realistically though he's hoping for a sideward step on more money at best ?

Is he prem level ? Not for me ATM , he might adapt to the prem but who will take that risk

I could see someone in the Premier League taking a chance on him. Take him as a squad player, let him force his way into the first team.

Wonder how well Viktor thinks of him, and if he advises Lisbon to have a chat...?

It will be massively disappointing if he goes especially as it feels like he’s only just come back, is starting to find his form and looks better than before.

For him not signing and staying until the end of the season is potentially a win/win. He stays and we go up, then he gets a Premier League contract with the team he wants, we don’t and he’s had 6 months to prove himself even more and possibly gets a bigger move than he would now.

The risk for him is taking that gamble and getting injured again.

Robins is talking like a good deals been put on the table. There’s no suggestion this is King being tight and Robins even mentions the warm weather rehabilitation expenses Doug signed off on. The club have looked after ohare during a long term injury when he was probably the top earner for a chunk of that period - Dawkins doesn’t mention that does he ?!

If Cal wants to play in the Prem and thinks there’s an offer coming to give him that opportunity then fair play, but in the meantime Dawkins putting snide comments out there on his behalf isn’t a good look whether they’re with him/his agents blessing or not

I could be wrong but it's only really the last few games where he's showing any kind of end product , it's taken 110 odd games to get here .. his work rate etc is unquestionable and his professionalism superb

Worth a punt but then again I expected far more Prem interest in Vik and Hamer when in reality there was very little, so who knows

Question for me is after such a long time out will he be happy as a squad/bench player as he loves his football

The reality is probably that he was a bit unlucky to have such a low goal output as he did before, and he's a bit lucky that it's so high after his injury though. I mean sure, he has his flaws and they're pretty obvious to anybody (I honestly could see an argument that in the Am role of last season, Allen was more productive in it than O'Hare would ever have been in terms of goals and, arguably, team contribution), but he's worth a punt at a higher level. The talk was when Villa released him that if they'd been relegated and Grealish sodded off, they'd have kept O'Hare - Grealish meaning the end of your Villa career isn't exactly a damning indictment.

Sure he's confident enough he could force his way into the regular first team of a middling club and, if not, he just goes on loan to a top club in this division anyway, so he doesn't really lose out.

This used to be corrrect but his end product has been much better this season.

As Roy Keane might say “ but that’s his job “ he’s not in the team for his defensive contribution
