I agree but it is poor. It is one of the bigger games and also we are on a winning run. How can owners be inspired to invest (new or current) when there is such apathy. Even 13 - 14,000 would show that things are on the way up and may help secure players' contracts in January.

If we start being successful, we could easily get 17-18k (16k at least) again, if we're in the playoffs, then we may have a chance of getting McG on a perm!

No one wants to watch a failing team, everyone wants to watch a successful team.

A lot seem to forget we have scored 8 in two games and only one of those from McGoldrick in open play late on at Colchester?

No one players makes a team if you have a good manager and some other good players.

I'm not suggesting he is not worth some weight in gold because 11 so far is it?....has to be of value but lets not get carried away. As form continues to rise others will get on the scoresheet.

We should try and get him and I don't beleive he will have as many choices of clubs as some seem to think. This is a player not wanted at Forest. Failed at that level. Now he has found some form albeit in league 1. Not many either have the ability to pay high wages or will gamble he is their answer to a promotion run in the championship. league 1 clubs would be favourite and of those only a couple could keep within the fair play rules and afford anything 6/7k upwards.
So keep a lid on it, he has so far done well. He can negotiate a fresh start, keep family where it is, have good prospects with us (big club when all said and done) and enjoy his football. Likely he will be offered around that 7/8 k figure and he will be ours in my opinion. So many players like him have tried the short term , more money route and their careers have ended on the scrap heap. caution by player and agent is required these days in financially strapped world of football clubs. (bar the very few)

king is a good example. Now in a relegation battle in the championship....the exact place he left from with us when he walked away for better prospects and money? It could just turn out that King (now 30 something) could be in league 1 next season and McGoldrick in the championship with us? Oh the irony of such a scenario but stranger things have happened...

We were getting regular gates of 20k+ when sisu rolled into town. I wonder why its so low five years on? Must be the fans fault i suppose.

I would love to go but i'm doing 3 games in December so can't really afford it, a shame as the Pompey atmosphere is usually pretty good,

I agree with Otis, its supposed to be a bright sunny day, its not really that expensive, it is a time to show your support if you want to be counted as a City 'Supporter', they need hard cash. The fans need to encourage SISU to part with the money to make a bid for D McG, if the fans won't play their part then why should the owners. Under present circumstances I wouldn't expect huge support from Pompey but they could still bring over a 1000 and I will be a bit miffed if we can't perhaps top our highest gate of 12,600 against Sheff Utd.

The break even now apparently is just over 11,000. We need to beat that and beat that by some degree. We need to show Sisu that buying DMC is the way to go.

The more matches we win the more the attendances will rise. The more they rise the less money we lose.

To win more matches we need our best players.

Rocket science it is not!

McGoldrick is pivotal to our fortunes. We need him to win matches. The more matches we win the higher the attendances will rise.

The higher our attendances rise above our break even figure the less money the club loses.

You know that if SISU splash the cash to land MCG he would get injured in the game after putting pen to paper and never regain his current form.

So do you not buy a player because he might get injured or lose form?

Maybe no club should ever buy any player again!

Nah but it would be typical of the luck had by CCFC. It's catch 22 with him anyway. Now he is the leagues top scorer there will be clubs coming in for him, If he was Callum Ball we wouldn't want to keep him anyway.

Still hoping if he stays we can sell Callum Ball as two players.

We need to win the next 4 or 5 games without McGoldrick on the scoresheet to put some of the circling sharks off. Failing that then this is a time for SISU to speculate because this guy on current form could make them a few quid at last.

My brother in law has always had a season ticket but this year refused to buy one and won't go to the Ricoh until SISU have gone. Nothing will change his mind. He HATES them!

It's tragic when a supporter has more interest in off-field matters than on it. I got into football to play and watch it, not number crunch.

I agree, McG should be available for around 150k really, 20k max, last year of contract etc. doubt many Champ sides will gamble, he is a hero at CCFC, likes Robins and his ways, so he could well stay, if I were him (setting my bias aside, honestly) I'd stay, his goals could well help us to the top.

I'd love it if Brum got relegated, especially because of King.

It will only make the owners put their hands in their pockets to sign McG because there will be MORE in their pockets. Simples. That's why the boycotters are a joke, if we're doing well, they'd soon change their minds!

I'll be there. I care what the owners are doing, but I don't care who the owners are. I will never stop supporting my team simply because SISU are in charge. A lot of Coventry fans love an excuse not to go. Of course, people are entitled to their beliefs, but it seems some people will do anything to get out of going. When we played Norwich in the snow two years ago, there were people on the phone in saying they didn't go because of the weather, yet Norwich brought about 1000 fans. That sort of sums up the mentality of Coventry. I lived in Manchester for a couple of years, it's not the nicest city, everything is grey and doesn't stop raining, but the people are proud of it. Come back to Coventry and it seems to be nothing but whinging.

Some fans want us to sign DMG, yet some of those also won't go because they don't want to give money to SISU. I personally don't get it, it's probably the same reason why the town centre is full of poundshops and Primarks. Everyone wants a House of Fraser etc, but if it was there, most people would say it's too expensive!

The main problem I've got with home games is the lack of identity. It pains me to say that if you changed the colour of the seats, you could be anywhere in the country. "The Tesco Stand", the best place for a drink being a casino and the unbelievable amount of advertising genuinely makes me angry. I'm not saying Highfield Road was some great ground with a cracking atmosphere, but at least it was our football ground. When Jackie Charlton said "they built football grounds next to the chimneys. When that stopped, football lost its way", he hit the nail on the head.

The country lost its way as well when they knocked all the chimneys down and exported all our manufacturing jobs.

I will be there are per usual but I looked online today at the ticket sales to see how things were shaping up and it looks as shit as ever with more than 2/3 empty. Portsmouth wont bring more than a 1,000 and I would be surprised if we get 11,000 total and that really pisses me off. I hope there is a late surge of interest considering the form we are now showing.
