I am surprised nobody has suggested merging Coventry United with Nuneaton Town - worth it for the acronym alone.

With regards Cov Utd., Nuneaton Town

In a perverse way like the brand FCUK, the marketing potential is endless...

T-Shirts:-

We love CU..
100% CU..

(alright you wouldn't but made me smile)

Totally agree, not okay to move another Town's club away from their fans, as we all (I think) know only too well.

Is it the same thing to merge one at-risk Club with one playing 10 miles away and for them to play at an empty venue 5 miles from both, at a site quite near to the Nuneaton border?

Is it a better outcome for Nuneaton to Merge and develop in a potentially wider catchment area than follow the lead of their former bitter rivals, Hinckley?

If Nuneaton go under, would the next best thing be to support a local team with an element of Nuneaton identity.

Just questions...

I think the main thing is the SISU leverage issue.

There seems to be a bit of agreement that SISU would like the Ricoh on their terms, and CCFC (newco or oldco, however you view it ) is their leverage. They are hard nosed negotiators with a penchant for litigation. Litigation is 50% law and 50% brinkmanship (I sadly know this from experience)

Dilute (or intimate that you will dilute) that "power" that they hold and you may well get them to the table quicker. SISU will not want to see their potential fanbase impacted by the possibility of a Conference level club playing in "their" City; it weakens their hand.

That said, Coventry is one of the biggest Cities with only one Professional Football Club. Add that Coventry and Nuneaton fanbase to the available Hinckley Fanbase (even if only a small percentage, they'll only go and support Leicester else) and you've got a little potential.

If the unthinkable happened and CCFC and SISU totally went under then would ACL be wrong to do this, morally?

Just curious as to the thoughts of others (if there are any Nuneaton fans on here...),

I've no opinion either way.

But would fans of either club accept a joining of forces if as I expect this present Nuneaton outfit go burst AND we (ccfc) still have this constant threat of liquidation hanging over our heads. I would hate it, but then a re-born Coventry City Football Club would have to start it's life about 9 divisions below the football league and also wouldn't just the threat of that scenario really put a cat amongst the pigeons at sisi HQ ?

Our fans are probably the biggest hypocrites in the country.

There is a funnier one started by dongle saying Preston Haskell should buy them move them to the Ricoh and invest heavily so they get to the championship .

No doubt Don wanted to see Andy thorn as manager Kevin Malaga as centre half and Cody up front.

I suppose you're right. Fisher should envisage his stadium to be at least 32000, just on the off chance we play Chelsea again, sometime in the distant future.

It's gets scary when you see this statement from our own CCFC fan... It shows a lack of ambition for the there club.

Do you not know our club song .. the one which has Chelsea, Tottenham and United in its lyric. There is a reason why they were in our song and hopefully we can sing that with pride again sometime in the future.

I know this is an old post.. but it's sad how some of our fans seem to think our club can never get back to the top and given up on the idea.

Perhaps it is time we acknowledged we are no longer in the prem and meeting these teams week in week out. The sky blue song was changed when we got in the first division. It originally had third division teams including Colchester United.

Perhaps it should reflect current realities.

This is "Nuneaton Boro" we are talking about. Who in gods name would support them, unless you are a "treacle towner"
