I'm old fashioned in my ways... like to pay up front, things are better these days can even take in several away games too.
Yes they played the game over the outside speakers around the Ricoh.... at least it was dry.

That is dreadful, turning away paying customers is not the way to run a business. Anybody who arrives before 4pm should be served.

Nah. If I'm contracted to work until 4pm I'm out the door at 3:59pm and in the pub by 4pm.

They should just tell anybody who isn't disabled to go and order them online.

Then just have a couple of people sorting out the people who have no option but to go there.

The piece in the Observer says disabled buyers are being given priority at the Butts. Fair enough as they have to buy in person. Seems surprisingly organised compared to usual.

I remember queuing for 9 hours at HR for the cup game at Everton. Got within 25 people to the ticket office only to be told sold out. Less than 5 mins online this morning. Isn't technology wonderful.

20 less people in the queue is another way of looking at it.

I hope Cov rugby have capitalised on having all these sports fans on their doorstep all day yesterday. Someone should have been out with a trolley selling anything from pints to coffee, teas and food ! There was a killing to be made surely ?

Everybody would be 3 sheets to the wind if they were selling pints that long, probably end up forgetting what they are queuing up for!

I bet Joy never thought of that. Would have been novel to see her lapdog Fisher in black gear and a pinney flogging hot drinks and cake to boost funds.

Saw the Telegraph facebook live going along the queue chatting to people. quite a few blokes didnt want to be seen on camera.. a pint in hand may have looked worse if they'd been spotted

I knew a lad who got sacked for missing work to get Sheff Utd tickets in the 1997 season. Had his photo on the front page of the Telegraph when he'd phoned in sick.

Gotta say I only made a handful of games in 87 due to working mostly in London
Managed to get to SW quarters
But resigned myself to not being able to get to Wembley quite early.
Still had a great afternoon in good company at the Gosford Park Hotel, then partied round town afterwards.
Gotta say I had a great time and not scarred.

I remember that well. It was only my second game at HR (the first being the Sunderland match). Pulled a sickie from school and was down there just after 1 and away by just after 4 if I remember correctly. Been hooked ever since.

The Sunderland match was played Tuesday night and the Man Utd tickets went on sale the next day there was a backlog of fixtures due to frozen pitches .The quick turnaround was because the Man Utd game was on Saturday .By the way gates behind us were broken down on the Tuesday with quite a few fans joining us in front of the main stand. The attendance was given as just over 40000 if my memory serves me right. On the Saturday stood on the kop load of room round us and they said it was 44000.(Strange)

Can go with all of that. On Tuesday we night went straight from school into town on the 13 bus, quick burger at Wimpy and then walked up to the ground. There were 4 of us and we were crammed into the corner of the main stand and the West End. This game lives fondly in my memory, not only because it was my first and we won but, with hindsight, it was wonderful to screw over those wingeing Sunderland fans. It's noticeable when ever they rant about JH and the Spurs match for example, they never, ever mention this. I used to go there on business quite often in the 80/90's and mentioning this match always bought silence and a change of subject.
On the Saturday, like you, we were on Spion Kop for the first and only time that I can remember, switching to the West End from then onwards.

I remember that. I was one of the lucky ones who got tickets (just). I remember a steward with a clicker counting the line, and stopping just before me after 7 hours of queuing and saying: "Anyone past here might not get a ticket".... then everyone just serged for the door.
