And people who are angry about the capacity, who don't go anyway!

Yes, why did they make that statement? Who revealed it yesterday?

All we do is build further down the pit a bit like Sunderland.

The deeper you can go with the stadium then capacity can increase in the restraints.

Altough of the tide turns with results and promotion then our gates will be much higher than now.

Also...how long would the work take to develop a new ground at the Butts? 4-5 years once plans approved to build?

We could be in the Championship or Premiership hypothetically? Would that give the developers enough time to change capacity plans?

I'd be happy with 15K with a definite plan as to how it could go up to 25K. Ricoh is 32K of which 6K are away, even without allowing for the ridiculous segregation that's straight away down to 26K home fans. You only have to provide 10% of capacity so in a 25K stadium we could have 22.5K home fans, only 3.5K less than the Ricoh which we virtually never sell out.

Very strange post, considering you never read posts either properly, or look back(Research what posters have said in the past.) I have indeed said if SISU showed "Proper intent" I would consider going to games again. Have a look back at my posts..... Oh, but you don't do things like that do you?

I'm a busy man SBK...I don't have time to search through previous posts. I post when I can and comment on what I see in front of me. Well done for having all the time to do so though.

I'm not saying bluff, I'm saying Jon Sharp has been shown a few pound signs and has got a little bit too excited. He'll get stitched up by these sharks for sure, it will end in tears all round. I think SISU know the council will block it though and therefore paint themselves as the bad guys. I go to CRFC and CCFC and I wouldn't say that area could manage very easily 15000 fans on a matchday if it got to that level.

Haven't the council already tried to block it again?

Wasn't he talking about redevelopment even without CCFC?

But if you read what has been said here they are talking about considerably less than 25,000.

That sounds to me like it may be much nearer to 15,000 than to 25,000.

i would love it to be there ,and i know this sounds thick but reducing the capacity may actually increase attendance ,if you know the only way to get a seat is to get a season ticket you will have to get a season ticket..or possibly miss out,as it is at the moment there are not many games you cant get a ticket too..
Also like has been said before even announcing feasibility studies ,give the club massive bargaining chips with wasps, it is no coincidence the ricoh has not got new naming rights yet

I dare say the ring road would grind to a halt around that junction.

They would seriously need to look at new roads in otherwise it would be a gridlock disaster.

Me too. We've got to start somewhere and it's not like we get full houses at it is and the Ricoh is more than half empty most of the time.

Start small and then progress. If we do well then it will create demand for tickets and if we don't then we won't need such a large capacity anyway.

Yes, a no brainer, chuck it out and stay at the Ricoh until it's first shown that this, or a new stadium, is better long term option than staying exactly where we are.

It wont be done anytime soon but if it is not a bluff and they are serious about closer to 15k stadium why not see what happens at the end next season IF we get promoted, i dont mind a 15k stadium long as can be extended to 25k but we need badly be promoted in next 2 seasons.

Now, the socio-cultural aspects are ignored by just about everyone (including SISU) because it's not in their interests to look at them.

Fortunately, this is an area I am qualified to give a view. And a city centre site, closely linked with the city and its two historic sporting institutions... a no-brainer. The potential (if done right) to lift the city both in visibility and in terms of its identity is vastly above and beyond that capability where the Ricoh is.

Fortunately, at least one councillor appears to recognise that.

Thank you for your e-mail concerning the above mentioned matter.

I have now liaised with my instructing officer, Nigel Clews of Place Directorate and can confirm that the Council is still happy to proceed with the deed as detailed in your e-mail.

The Council would however wish to raise one issue following recent items in the local press suggesting that professional football was coming to the Butts Arena. I suspect that this is not the case however the Council naturally wants to protect its position as well as the Rugby Club.

It is suggested that we look to add a new clause 12 to the Licence which make a variation or agreement/acknowledgement between the parties that the reference within clause 13.1 of the lease to “any other leisure and sporting activities and uses” shall specifically exclude professional association football or training associated therewith.

I would welcome your comments on the above and hopefully we can agree some wording.

IIRC Barcelona did exactly that and extended their capacity by some 10-15k.

That is pretty damning, isn't it? I'm not up on property law, so I don't know if a freeholder can just add covenants as they see fit, but I'd like to see their justification

15k capacity would be fine in Div 1 and has the potential of creating a positive atmosphere for the club [if we get behind the team!]. However, the challenges are:
a] Car parking and transport to the ground.
b] Having capacity to expand ultimately up to 30k if in the Premier league.
c] The details of any joint venture between CRFC & CCFC. Will SISU want to own the stadium and let it to CCFC?

There wasn't any parking at HR. It's a city centre site with many car parks quite close by. There are ample transport links such as buses and trains.

tbf, HR was there before planning (and people driving to games... or even owning cars for that matter!) became such an issue.

Not that hard really SBWM. My health determines I can no longer work. Five, maybe ten minutes research usually suffices. It's also not that hard to actually know what you're attacking posts for! Simply read rather than attack because you don't like a poster

Maybe so, but there will be more provision around the Butts than HR. Trains and buses and city centre car parks. Can't see the issue really.
