Could park at the Ricoh and get the train into the city centre and then walk at least the station at the Ricoh would get some use

So as it stands, based on what they all say today.

Wasps are happy for CCFC to go to the Butts.

CCC are happy for CCFC to go to the Butts.

CRFC are happy for CCFC to go to the Butts.

Are you referring to the meeting Fisher had with RBC to supposedly persuade them to allow a stadium to be built there? "There are investors interested, so long as the physical resource is outside of Coventry due to Coventry Council attempting a hostile takeover of the club they don’t wish to invest in Coventry”

Or are you referring to Matton comments about there being no possible site within the city boundary for a new stadium. The key word there is new, this wouldn't be a new site.

It's also worth noting that this Gannon bloke wants to draw a line under whatever has gone before.

Shouldn't we be agreeing with him on that, and allowing them to actually constructively talk to one another?

Its not a bluff. Coventry rugby club are keen to push ahead to follow in the footsteps of of Nuneaton RFC. We all know how well that turned out!

Italia SBK and Senior Thick aren't too chuffed to be fair. Tony says he's unsure that moving into a stadium owned by a rugby club may be right for "his" team, OSB has concerns on parking (rather odd given there is nowhere to park at the Ricoh) and dongle is avoiding all questions on the councils apparent attempt to strangle at birth this concept.

Everyone else seems on board.

we've been told on many occasions (particularly during the rent dispute) that funding/investors were lined up for a new stadium if a location could be found.

All irrelevant as Coventry City haven't managed an average attendance of 25k or more since 1971, and in the last 25 years have had an average in excess of 20k on just 5 occasions, that's with an away allocation of circa 6k at the Ricoh and 4k at HR.

But the whole point of my listing these is because they are nearly all expanding

I would say it is irrelevant going back 25 years because clubs then had smaller capacities than they do now in many cases.

My whole argument is that surely we want to be looking for a stadium to cater for us for the next 50 years plus.

We have had very little success at all these past 25 years. We have success, attendances will increase.

We need to look for a new home and one tied in with Cov sounds brilliant in theory, but we need to look past just the now and we need foundations for many, many years to come.

In theory I love the Butts concept.

I'd focus on him saying how he prefers Butts.

I reckon that's him on board, whether this is a blind alley or a deep hole we're delving into.

I'm talking about the "Original flounce" by Tim Fisher about "Being kicked out of the Ricoh" when the total opposite was the case. Then the "We're going to build a Stadium outside, but no further than 8 miles from the City Centre."

They all "want" to expand maybe. But do Charlton need a 40K stadium for example? Just because someone else wants to do something doesn't mean to say it'll happen or it's a sensible idea.

Going back to 1971 we've had 30 years on the top flight, an FA Cup win, two league cup semi finals. The most successful period in the club's history really.

Bournemouth have had massive success on 11K. So what if we start at 15K. In the last decade how many times have we needed the full capacity of the Ricoh? We have to start somewhere. I think a smaller capacity will drive the demand for tickets if we do well and that can only be a good thing. It might be an issue in a decade or three, but it's not an issue now, I don't think.
don't like using Bournemouth as an example as their success has nothing to do with gates or fanbase just a massive investment from owners into playing side. A wage bill of well over 30 million in their promotion season has nothing to do with ticket money, F&B or other stadium income.

Suggest you read the other posts then that say its a good or great idea rather than trying to twist my words in order to make another pointless contribution

Nothing wrong with asking questions far more constructive than childish name calling and derogatory comments

And of course we regularly hear the 'we should never have left HR' line. Capacity at HR was 23,489.

I would be happy with the site but not the capacity. Otis is right...clubs are expanding capacity.
The argument about comparing gates 25 years ago is meaningless as virtually no club had bigger gates regularly back then.
If we have ambition on the pitch we should have ambition off it. Successful clubs will look to expand the fanbase attending matches.
Let's see how ambitious SISU are. Let's see how ambitious CCFC are and let's see if ccc want a successful vibrant and well supported football club as part of the future of the city.

Pretty promising from the old folks home as well:

Earlsdon Park Village opens this summer, bringing older people into the heart of community life here in Earlsdon.

As part of our community engagement programme, we already have a strong and positive relationship with the Rugby Club and will continue to work with them to help ensure any proposals take into consideration our residents’ aspirations and interests.

Championship attendance as a % of their capacity, 25K more than big enough for the championship.

problem wasn't the capacity at HR. HR was ours.
problem was leaving HR without having secured funding for the Ricoh.
If we owned the Ricoh no-one would have issues with its capacity etc. or any other stadium-related issues. We could have spent the last 10 years bitching about crap hotdogs or dumpy cheerleaders rather than F&B income etc.

Yeah, just had a look. The telegraph tweeted their story about 15 minutes after the Observer..

Usually it gets tweeted straight away doesn't it?

Currently the plans to 25k would hold good in the Championship. If we made it back the top flight that's where the issue will come?

What then? Do we then build another stadium or are Sisu hoping Wasps will be bankrupt by then and go and buy the Ricoh.

We make a pile of money as there would be sellouts every week. The demand for tickets would hopefully be huge and we may even have a waiting list for season tickets. Sounds good to me. Can't see what the issue is.
