Business still to be done (1 Viewer)

Okay, only a few days to go, what do we want or expect to happen still?

Perry and Obikwu need loans if they're not going to feature in games like last night. Possibly Andrews too, but cant leave us short, as Eccles or Allen also needs to go out imo.

Collins and Bassette surely have to go and play, still expect MVE sale.

Inbound a CB and CM, cover for AM, RB & RW (possibly loans).

In an ideal world I'd also move on one of the LB, Lati and get 2 CB in, Simms and get a new CF in too, but those are wants rather than expectations.

Anything likely or different from anyone?

No chance Eccles going out. One of our top minutes performers in the last three seasons. Lets hope the injury is not too serious.
Allen was poor against Millwall. He performs less well against physical teams. Unlikely we can afford to replace him, so he will be here I feel for this one last season.
Obikwu likely to go out on loan if clubs meet our wage demands. Bassette loan apparently fell through as we were asking a very high fee. Depends if a club meets our valuation and if Lampard and the coaching staff feel they can bring him up to speed.
Collins. On pretty good wages. Doubt if he will take a wage cut.
MVE and Bobby Thomas are for sale if the fee is right, but we apparently are asking amounts that other clubs find prohibitive. See also Rudoni who we want to keep, but there is silly money circulating in the Prem
Simms wages and our valuation would be a problem to him moving.
We have tried for a CB, a winger and a player who can fit in across the front three.
If no one leaves, we need a CB as a priority.

We may get one or two in, but this window may well be more about the quality we held onto, rather than the quality we brought in.

*And I don’t mean Collins funnyfuckers

Realistically i think MVE goes out. If that happens would want someone else in as cover.

Would like some more left back cover too.

Previously i thought we needed another striker but at the moment the goals are coming from everywhere so maybe we dont need it

Would like a centre back and a wide attacking player.

Would love a Simms upgrade.

Would spontaneously combust if we got an Eccles/Sheaf upgrade.
I hate that expression 'would love a Simms upgrade', it's so demeaning. Do we know if he looks at this site? Simms has far more potential than many players we have had previously and with self-belief can make a go of it, if people support him, and which we should be doing as it's in the name - supporter. You are a fine contributor over the years Brighton but would you like it if people were looking for an upgrade on you?

It isn’t personal against the player to say we need better than what he’s offering. Likewise with what I posted about Allen recently, he’s served the club very well but there comes a point for every player where they need to be moved on. Just as that goes the other way and when players outgrow the club and bigger clubs come in, they want to take the opportunity even if they’re very happy with us.

Simms had more about him on Tuesday, but there’s still just too many basic holes in his game for where we’re aiming to be.

Bassette surely has to go. Not even in the squad for Millwall, looked really pissed off in the players' area at QPR. He can't be in the bomb squad until January can he?

Just put him down as the latest Hilsner and get rid. These things are just part of the game

Football fans have spoken about players like this since the beginning of time, in fact this is incredibly tame language.
Why do people on here treat Simms like a huge baby?

Potential? He's nearly 25! Hes fekkin useless and I couldn't care if he reads this. He's one of our highest ever paid players and has been suppported and will continue to be whilst on the pitch, we're helping contribute to that and are entitled to our opinion on him. Especially on here.

Would take an upgrade on BSB though, but you've not made the cut and we'll release you on a free.

If we don't get another CB in, I think that will be a monumental mistake.

Other than that, I think the squad is in great shape. Anything more would be a big positive.

Sheets are still dry.

I think the winger is pretty important tbh. Brau is our new left back but already seems to be our backup left winger too.

Winger crucial - tats and EMC already picked up knocks/strains. bTA will do a job, likewise Rapha off cameo but that’s it. Perfect world id get 2 wingers and loan Rapha - but appreciate not that simple.

kitch fair enough but EMC was well understood to be happening for a few weeks before - the kicker on deadline day was the news we had to loan him back.
Yes I remember Robins grinning ‘like a Cheshire cat’ while we were presumably negotiating EMC but then having a smacked arse face the day after the deal.

As it stands...we need one Centre back ( left or right footed).

Couple of our fringe players go out on loan. Obikwu. Which means Bassete gets a life line.

I'd be happy with this.

Agreed that we can do with an extra winger, certainly.

If we lose Kitching or Thomas, the quality drops considerably.

Whereas LW we can play BTA or Wright (it's shown that he can perform well on the left even if he's preferred upfront) and RW we have BTA and potentially Rafael.

CB is an absolute must, winger would be an important signing.

I'm sure Simms is aware by now that footballers are prone to criticism.
