I think Bury and Bolton should pool their resources and amalgamate .
The new team should be called 'Buried Wanderers'
Nickname 'The Zombies'

The premier league are awash with TV money and able to pay fantasy wages to players. The governing body should look at this and decide that a better share of that money should be trickled down to the league clubs, after all that is where players are developed and often bought at knock down prices by those Premier league teams.
Just a 15% levey would be enormous, distributed to the league clubs. Seems like logic for the good of the game.

But you have two governing bodies - the PL and EFL. PL is there to look after the interests of its members, not the EFL's. To distribute more cash down would be then doing something disadvantageous to their own members.

With Utd and City being such big draws why not just 'Greater Manchester United?'

Manchester is always saying how using the city's name brings advantages to the entire metropolitan area (even though many indicators suggest the huge majority of them go to the city and any ill effects are normally felt outisde it)

They will have to sign out of contract players now (probably doomed to relegation - minor issue versus extinction) and will have to look to rebuild next summer. Will be interesting to see how much the Bolton public get behind the club this season, with probable defeats each week (after the obvious initial turnout for the initial home game, post takeover)

Who appointed him? He was really scathing of Anderson the guy trying to sell the club i believe. Don't know if he supposed to be independ or has to try and get the best deal for the creditors, etc. but his slating didn't come across as very professional. Guess he's glad he's been paid though.

If I were Mark Robins I'd be lining up some of our fringe players / youngsters for a loan to Bolton - even until January, so they can get some competitive football at this level

Yeah that's slightly... odd.

There is of course an assumption that football clubs don't go pop, someone will step in, so why bother to do it yourself.#

Yeah but if they have £7m knocking about they haven't just suddenly found it in the back of the sofa so why wait until they have been kicked out of the league to appear with it?

I'd be worried about them taking over as well.

Bury were in exclusive talks with another party - Talks had progressed to almost signing - how could this company barge in until now

They could have made a counter offer at any time. Also, there was a period of a few days after the collapse of the takeover where they could have made a move. That Smurthwaite guy had made an offer too so there was nothing stopping any other party coming forward.

The EFL won't reverse their decision, if they did they could never hold the threat of expulsion over any club ever again and they would lose what little authority they have to keep clubs and owners in line.

The governing body is the F.A. whether you are playing in Sunday leagues or Premier league.
The FA should step in and defend their game and rule where a fairer balance of TV money distribution should go to help the game, not 100% to the Premier league.

Chasing the dream!
Hudderfield got nearly 100m for getting relegated from the prem, they will also get 40m+ parachute payment if they dont get promoted this season. Cut this money off, top half finish in the prem has to be worth something, a lot, bottom half a lot less, make it less attractive to be happy with promotion to and relegation from the PL, teams are paying way beyond their means for a share of what Huddersfield are receiving, 140m over 2 seasons for failing, bottom half Prem + parachute payments should be at most half what it is now, the money not paid there should then be spread proportionately amongst the next 3 or 4 divisions.

Team gets relegated from prem, other teams don’t immediately swoop in and buy all their players, and bang; administration.

They can’t - the deal is agreed with the providers on the basis the premier league agree the distribution - you’d end up with then withdrawing what support is available

The premier league teeth are fare more sharp than the FA

Given our experience of the EFL and how well they manage these situations would anyone be surprised if what he's said about them is true?

Even if the premier league gave everyone else in the football league another 5m each per season on average (staggered/divided up however you like), all it would do is cause wage inflation and end up in footballers pockets again, and you'd have the same battle between clubs trying to get in the higher leagues to get the bigger bucks and again spending above their means to do it. You'd still get clubs going pop.

You need salary caps if anything is going to change really, and I think it's too late for that now because of the power of the premier league.

Bit of a pie in the sky idea but - the only way the premier league would lose any power is if the rest of the EFL broke away and got rid of promotion to that league and relegation from it. Would kill the competition in the prem for everyone cemented outside of the top 7.
The Championship is more entertaining in my view anyway...

As the 5 million is a gift it could maybe come with rules.
The club can only spend a maximum of etc as long as finances are ok, if you try to spend money on players whilst in trouble, the transfers are cancelled and the money goes to paying off debt. To receive the money clubs would have to be transparent with finances to an independent board (kept confidential to everyone else) if ok the money can be spent on transfers but if not then the money has to go towards running costs. Could have saved Bury or stopped the trouble at Bolton etc...

Sorry but that’s far too ambiguous and impossible to enforce
