And yet last season he was part of the 9th best defence , so the regression is probably not down to a young bobby thomas , we conceded 12 goals in our last 6 games we were one of the better defences in the league

9th best defence is hanging around mid table so it’s hardly much to write home about. Kitching was part of that defence and so was Lati, does that make them good defenders

He was good Saturday when he came on

Start him and giving him a run is different than coming on for 25 minutes

MVE the right wing back who can't cross
Dasilva the left wing back who can cross but can't defend
All the CBs who just ball watch and lose their men
3 goalkeepers none of whom can stay in the side for more than a handful of games at a time

Total mess.

Can DaSilva cross?

Wasn’t BTA all Robins?

Up until the very end we had one of the better defences .. I'm sure thomas and kitching had a fair amount of clean sheets together ?

He does look useful going forward. MVE however can't put a cross in to save his life, and our game plan is almost entirely just repeatedly putting crosses into the box. So it's kind of problematic that he can't do it

Hope Kitching can get a new start. Was good for a decent chunk of last year with Thomas.

If we can have a consistent front 6 of

Sheaf Eccles
Rudoni
Sakamoto Simms Wright

we know from experience that creates and scores goals.

priority in January is sorting the defence out and settling on a keeper.

I actually think Kitching is the best CB to pair with a new quicker partner.

Bah. I "liked" the post too quick then saw the Kitching comment. Damn my quickshot reaction. I don't dislike Kitching mind you, just don't share the enthusiasm about him.
Carry on IsSparks you positive soul.

Personally think

MVE - Thomas - Kitching - Bidwell

Until further notice.

Actually, I'm fickle and throwing a tantrum. Start Kitching let's see him crack some skulls and put some life into the game.

Yep.

Tell Bidwell and MVE to stay back too. MVE is far better defensively than going forward.

That was poor, what a shit away day. Burnley are a dull watch, that game deserved to be a 0-0 all day. Why do we always give up prime chances.

Our midfield and defence are poor in and and out of possession, we need to be braver. Absolutely no one able to break the lines.

If Sakamoto is infront of him MVE is significantly better going forward than if he’s not

Best we can hope for is a new LB, CB and CM in January.

those are the key positions we need to fill.

For about 4 months (Nov-Mar) Thomas and Kitching looked a decent CB pairing.

Not sure what's gone wrong.

If not would bring Binks to play left back to help us be a bit more defensive

Meh, nothing I didn’t expect there tbh

They are a good side (even if a little dull) they’ve conceded 6 goals approaching December which is an absolutely insane record in The Championship

Once we go one down it’s a tough ask and it’s game over at 2-0

The real disappointment for me was just how sloppy we looked with the ball, misplaced passes and miscontrolling the ball far too often

Write it off and roll on a new manager hopefully

Carr bottled it tonight. Burnley were bang average, but we were so defensive in the 1st half. I haven’t seen such a negative game-plan from us for a long time. Thought we actually did alright defensively in that half, but way too much respect given to the opposition. Robins wouldn’t have played it that way. Carr changed nothing at half time. That was a poor decision . Bassette isolated upfront, and why play a negative game and include Torp & Sakamoto. Total waste. Start Andrews and Allen. Ellis Simms should have started too. Hopefully new Head.Coach in by Saturday

might be just me but burnley hasn‘t got brilliant defenders, they’re just organised, theyv’e Got a system and all know their places in it, we were just all over the place,

Think it might just be you…

As I alluded to, they’ve conceded 6 goals all season they have got an excellent championship defence

I don't particularly think any of our goalkeepers stand out for the right reasons. I was just attracting some attention for highlighting that Dovin was also one of them.

The inconsistency is so frustrating with this team where in some games it’s higher tempo and encouraging, then the next reverts to type.

Lati is the most unathletic footballer I’ve seen at any level.
