He could have made a wall in front of the free kick, as everybody knew they were shooting! That's without watching videos of them like they should have been done.

ah sure nick thats simple basics which seems have gone out the window at this stage total break down communication between burge and his defense id love hear him miced up like they do nfl players see what he says to his defense through the game.

As I said it was partially defending him. In your analogy there were half a dozen who decided to burn down the building and were there. It then ran off before the polls CEO arrived and burge left holding the burning rag

Burge would drop the rag, burning or not.

I think the worse crime is the way Turnbull gets flung off the ball by their man. It's embarrassing to watch. The bloke is a complete non-footballer, body shape is constantly wrong when defending, has no balance, can't pass, has the same agility as the QE2 and can't jump for headers. He's a total pussy and weak as piss - that moment pretty much typifies this entire squad/season.

Not guilty on grounds of diminished responsibility.

I'm not defending Burge as I don't rate him at all. But he was exposed. We started with 3 centre backs yet the centre forward was unmarked in the box when he received the ball for the first goal.

I don't know what the defence are doing in training, they certainly are not organised enough to pick up the loose attackers, you see it time & time again, an absolute joke.

Well I'm going to partially defend him for the first goal. It was a comedy of errors and the attacker left with a reasonable amount of time and space with defenders not doing their job. Burge's mistake was anticipating and moving rather than waiting and possibly (if it had been a harder shot) not getting down in time. The fact the shot was tame and burge went wrong way compounded his error and made it look worse. He certainly wasn't blameless but I don't believe he was worst culprit for that goal.
As for the second he was as at fault in my book. He should have demanded a wall and we should have at least one player rushing out to close down the shooter. With no wall the ball travelled a distance before the deflection and then he had little chance to readjust and save.
As for his kicking...abject and abysmal are not strong enough. I think the only kick all night that found a city player was an horrendous miss hit in the second half that fizzed all along the ground narrowly avoiding two Southend players who if they had intercepted would have been in on goal.
Neither he or rcc are good enough. The defence is poor and needs confidence in a strong keeper. And the keepers are poor and need a strong defence. A vicious circle.

The first goal is abysmal goalkeeping, it not to do with anticipating a harder shot into the corner.

His footwork and weight distribution was all wrong, which meant he lost his balance and was made to look an idiot. Basics which you would expect a 16 year old to know if they were serious about making it in the professional game.

Yes the 2nd was obvious, but the for the first it seemed impossible for Burge to dive the way he did given where the ball ended up without there being a deflection, couldnt see on in the highlights.

What an embarrassing thread this is. Let's see how long our fans can go on lambasting one of our young (relatively) players. It's like a competition to see who can come up with the most expressive put down.

Thanks for that, anyone defending Burge for the first goal is mad.
I'd expect a Sunday league keeper to save it with little effort

He's paid. I'm paying to watch. If I watched a play and an actor forgot all his lines id be less than impressed.

I've watched one bungling performance after another. Ome game I almost called the emergency services as I assumed that he'd developed St Vitus Danve. It's the only explanation I had for his strange movements as a ball plopped over his ahead.

On the day of the protest I thought a tennis ball had struck him. Only explanation I had for staggering around the six yard box as a goal went in was he had concussion.

He's a laughing stock. If he was an actor he wouldn't have even got a job in crossroads.

Yes Nick, many times. I'm commenting on the way that people comment. Not exactly constructive criticism, just a queue of people putting the boot in.

He's had two years worth of constructive criticism and gone worse. Laugh him out of the city. I said it already but if when the team sheets come out at 2pm on Saturday he's starting I will not bother going in the ground despite having a ticket.

There are a small number of posters on here who give a balanced view, for example, by highlighting the deficiencies in our defence, and the impact on a goalkeeper of losing games and conceding goals every week.

Burge is pants! Lets be fair though and he isn't the only one not to have improved after some 2-3 years in and around the first team. Bigi,Haynes,Finch,Lameires,Rcc et al all the same.

Not making excuses for him overall, but for that goal it looks like his studs dug in and he ended up unable to move over properly, hence the poor looking attempt to get to the ball.

Yeah, agree. I think it was that, and that of his laces being tied together, the super glue inbetween the fingers on his gloves and the chilli pepper powder that had just blown into his eyes.

Good hope he's playing won't have to listen to your fucking whining then.
Funny how supporters were lambasted last season for getting on players backs and now those posters who were crying about it are the ones now moaning day after day.
What happened to this I only support the lads shit we kept hearing.
First it was the fans losing us games now it is all about Burge and Oggy.
Your right about his kicking cant kick straight to save his life.
But it is ok that we never had a shot on target on Tuesday and people still think without Burge we would have won.
Get fucking real could have played until next fucking Tuesday we still wouldn't have scored, and therefore would not have won.

Has anybody said that we would have won? Or that for the first goal he could have done better (but others were also to blame for giving the ball) and that for the second he should have had a wall.

Again, not everything is black or white. If somebody points out Burge has a shocker, that isn't saying without Burge we would win the league. There is an inbetween.

No I don't give a shit just that he seems to get the blame for our decline just think it is unfair.
And go back and see all the threads Nick.
Worst of the worst started by Grendel,
This one Burge started by LG
Lee Burge by ladywood
then there are 3 on Oggy.
Over 20 pages on 2 people that does no include the threads that have been taken over with the same argument.
And you say I have a thing for him.
