I hope he has a great game. I will cheer him more than usual to show my support in the warm up and before kick off. Important everybody does the same to give him confidence and make him feel an important part of the team in second place in the league.

He doesn't need to be dropped until he causes us to lose points. Young goalkeepers will make mistakes.

So 23 is young?

And we should play our strikers until we lose and they don't score.

We should play our midfield until they don't set up any goals and we lose.

We should play our defenders until they let in goals and our strikers don't score as many as them and we lose.

Or should we just be realistic and admit he is the weak link in our side?

Young goalkeepers will make mistakes. As will all young players. Unfortunately however, when the goalkeeper makes a mistake it is usually fetal. Whilst I am not against Burge staying at the club, I do feel that a more experienced keeper is needed if we are to get to where we all want to be.

He's the same age as Westwood when we signed him.

Perhaps Westwood was simply a better keeper?

I have made a few fetal mistakes. That is why I ended up with lots of kids. And I am a goalkeeper

Armstrong didn't score and we lost against Walsall. Should he have been dropped then?

You miss my point. If he plays tomorrow (which he will ) then let's all get behind him. Show him our support when he pulls on the CCFC shirt.

23 is young for a keeper. Yes Westwood was better but hence we were in the championship had as budget and sold him to a bigger side before he arrived in the premiership. Give the guy a chance he will get better but likely never hit the heights of Westwood. I pray to god he doesn't read this forum or he's fecked for tomorrow.

TBF we have, do and will but It's obvious the problem lies within himself, that being nerves/confidence IMO.
Whether that will come Is what everyone Is debating .

How anybody can say 23 isn't young for a goalkeeper is beyond me.

Oggy's golden years (IMO) spanned from about 86 - 97, aged 29-40.

Give the lad a chance.

I hope the back four protect him well. Also hope we are always in front, as that will give him a bit more confidence too.

Make or break for him tomorrow. He will either play well and nothing els will be said or he fumbles again and serious questions will be asked

How many goals did he nearly give away? He still had a decent enough game. And I suppose you will go on about his penalty save and not yet another fumble led to the penalty.

He isn't ready for the 1st team. End of.

If they are good enough they are old enough. If they are not good enough they shouldn't be playing. Not even if they have come through your own academy.

Whether he is good enough is a different subject. All I am asking is that all the fans get behind him tomorrow. He will be shitting himself and needs to have as much confidence as possible.

In all fairness, I don't think he has been hammered at the games. I don't rate him but get behind him like I would any player. When he makes a save I applaud him like anybody else. I don't get up and start shouting abuse at him or booing or anything like I don't other players.

I'm not sure bawtry has been to any games this season with comments he is making. People have criticised him on the forum
much of which tbh has been justified but I have heard nothing but support for him during games and certainly have not heard our fans
abusing him??

This is a little bit of a non-starter.

There have been numerous threads about Burge over the last week, with people voicing different opinions, but at no point have I got the impression any negative views will be expressed at the next game i.e. tomorrow.

Personally, I think Burge is the weak link in an ever improving squad, however that does not mean I will boo him tomorrow, or secretly want him to make a mistake to justify my opinion. And at no point this season have I heard people abusing Burge during the game.

I hope he has a great game too but confidence comes from within, not from fans cheering.

He's crap but the idea of the thread is right, we should get behind him and support him like we should for every CCFC player for 90 minutes on the Saturday. And the fans have done and will continue to do so.

I'll be looking out fo Bawrty in the future should be easy to spot with his "I love Lee" T-shirt and big "In Burge we trust" banner.
Sure he'll be doing this as he seems to be making out he goes the extra mile in support of the boys in comparison to the rest of us!!!

The only person to blame for the continued inclusion of Leigh Burge is our manager, is that correct or not ?

For what it's worth I think Burge may just keep a clean sheet today....hope I am right and the boys do not let us down.
Easy to get carried away like we did pre Walsall I'm nervous about this game a little bit!

We will see what sort of character he is today after all the criticism. I'm expecting him to play well.
I seem to remember thinking the same last year, I thought we would get relegated with him in goal towards the end of the season but he had some good games, as well as a couple of howlers. IMO he recovered well after the Crewe game last year.
