Not really. By your argument Bruce Grobellear was a better goalkeeper than Gordon Banks - I disagree.

No you can have a good goalkeeper in a poor defence, but not the best defence in the league with a poor goalkeeper...Grobellear wasn't a poor goalkeeper, but Banks was one of the best in the world at a certain point in his career.

People on here blame our goalkeepers a lot for relegation last season in the bottom 2 division 13 teams conceded more goals than us and only 1 scored less .Scoring was our problem and is likely to be the same this season except for promotion this time round.

He will need to be shown the door in the summer if we manage to get promoted. He, along with others, were out of their depth last season. Has undoubtedly found his level this.

Goalkeeper makes a mistake that leads to one goal, he cost us the game and needs to be dropped ... all his fault.... multiple strikers miss multiple chances to win the game , they need to be given time and put your arm around them because they are briallinat and we are lucky to have them
Goalkeeper makes wonder save to win game / cup/ league - that’s a goalkeepers job and next time he makes a mistake he is shit again & all ya fault ... striker scores one great goal, but misses the next half a dozen chances , it’s “yeah but remember his goal against ####”

Highlights your understanding of football. The reason Liverpool didn’t win the league a few years ago was because they had a poor goalkeeper. Burge is good enough to help get us out of this league but wouldn’t be for league 1.

Liverpool won 7 league titles with a goalkeeper who was not an international standard keeper.

Correct.

Burge is a lot better than many keepers at clubs higher than ourselves.

He can climb the leagues with us.

Look iys hood that burge now bounces bsck from mistskes eith a hood run of performsnces. In fsct ots vital

That said he still makes mistakes a regulsr rate it seems albeit less regulsr than in the past

Let him be number 1 keeper for noe bit todays the cup and LOB shoukd retain his position imo. Lets see how he does

You are trying to say Grobbelaar was not international standard?! He wasn’t able to play for his country! Ahead of his time and could play now.

Of course Grobbelaar could still play. He's not 61 until October and goalkeeping is piss easy.

I’ll put it a different way! With his type of game and ability with his feet, he would be still be World class if he was born in this era.

Yes he is! But played good on Saturday. We all know that if we want to move forward that he(and he’s not alone) is not the answer long term.

Adge, your argument seems to be if you get relegated from a league every single player will never be good enough?

Do you extend this logic to the Championship team of 2011/12 who got relegated which featured many players who are still playing in the top 2 tiers?

I’m not saying Burge is good enough for League 1, I’m just saying the argument isn’t a particularly strong one

Most of that team, young, old, academy, loans etc of last year who got relegated, were NOT good enough and Burge was included in that team. Has probably now found his level.
A question for yourself is do you think that Burge is a capable keeper who will take us forward? Lets please take our academy hat off just for this once.

hes been fantastic this season. I worry he might not be commanding enough long term but some of his shot stopping this season has been phenomenal. We owe a lot of points to him.

You didn’t answer my question and have gone on another irrelevant rant which you are very good at.

My question was as your logic is ‘if a team gets relegated all the players will never be good enough’ do you extend this logic to the Championship team of 2011/12 which got relegated? Do you also think none of them are good enough for the Championship despite quite a lot still at that level?

I have already answered your question? I’ve already said I’m not suggesting Burge is good enough to take us forward. I’m not questioning that. I’m questioning your logic which is very flawed

If you go with the same logic, Martin Cranie (Huddersfield), Richard Keogh(Deby), Cyrus Christie (Boro), Jutkiewiscz (Blues), Norwood (Fulham) are not good enough because they were a part of a team which got relegated?

I got there and saw them warm up, his kicking in the warm up was pretty much to feet every time.

It must be the pressure or urgency that alters it in games.

Please don’t turn into Nick! Ranting, frothing at the mouth, sniffing glue and all that tripe. :emoji_confused:
In that team there were one or two decent players. As a team they were obviously poor as they went down.
Maybe some of that was down to selling Jutkiewiscz and before that not replacing Kings goals.

For me league 2 is his level, unless he propels some how majorly this season and we get promoted into league 1 and he keeps improving fine but i think he would go back to way he was last season so if we went up we should sell him to league 2 club.

You obviously aren’t going to answer the question I have put to you twice now as you would have to admit your logic is flawed and in doing so would be admittig the likes of Keogh, Cranie, Jutkiewicz, Christie and Norwood’s level isn’t League One

Have a good day
