The number of fans posting on this site wanting and asking to return to their so called home "Ricoh Arena" is a joke!

Less than two years ago before the SISU / ACL saga many of you were reminiscing about Highfield Rd and slagging off everything to do with Ricoh and how it was being managed.. There were constant moans about the atmosphere, how far away from the pitch the seats were and the general facilities, to mention only a few of the moans.

I'm not sure a return to the Ricoh would really please some fans, because what the hell would you moan about then.........

Not me. Love the Ricoh and have always loved the Ricoh. Have never missed HR one little bit.

Mr Cresote in 2000 I complained about Craig Bellamy being a poor finisher, 2 years later I was watching Dean Holdsworth, as bad as the Ricoh experience may have been v Highfield road, Sixfields is a new level that we could never have imagined but a great post well done.

It's not the moaning that annoys me, it's the way hardly anyone turned up when we were there that's annoying.

Admittedly, I have never liked the Ricoh compared to HR, but I would go back there in a heartbeat.

Last week you complained you had a sore ankle and this week both your legs have been amputated and your ankle no longer hurts but still you complain, some people are never happy and just want to moan.

A few people moaned about it but don't take that as a norm.
The thing is some amount of freedom needs to be given under the lease to make it our own.
If Sisu could at least buy some of the rights so that "everything" in the Ricoh is controlled by the club we could personalise it.
I think concerts etc etc within the bowl need to be all under the control of the club.

The reason being why hardly anyone turned up when we were there, Torchy, is, A lot of supporters could see where SISU were taking us, and it wasn't to the Prem, either!

Agree with that. However it started it off badly didn't it what with all the nonsense about putting our badge on the outside. I've always thought that we were like someone sleeping on their mates sofa while at the Ricoh so when something is finally (and hopefully) sorted then those issues can be addressed. If it could feel like we owned it, even if we actually didn't, then that would be a start.

Lol !
To the OP.
This post is what you call a moan !!
Torch wants us back at the Ricoh but that in itself is not good enough. He wants us to feel like we owned it even if we don't !!

I thought you believed that it was an individuals right to choose which games they do or do not attend.

Or does that only apply to Sixfields?

I bet there wasn't a single person who didn't go and watch us play at the Ricoh because we didn't own it. The league we were in, the quality of our players, the style of our play, the atmosphere, the lack of any type of success over a long period, the fact we were trending downwards, being lied to for decades, the fact it was far from clear our owners had our interests at heart, poor management of the team, farcical management of the club, much higher quality football a short distance away or on the tv, other local sports, the state of the sport as a whole, the cost vs quality of entertainment and the credit crunch, all these things played a role, some a large amount some only a tiny bit but not owning the Ricoh not in the slightest.

a large number of people attended the Ricoh to watch Coventry play, there was nothing ironic about it, our attendances were slowly falling because our attendances deserved to slowly fall.

Mmm...what's wrong with feeling at home at the Ricoh rather than being an obvious tenant?

Not sure why it's so difficult to understand.

we did feel at home though, no ones complaints about the ricoh had anything whatsoever to do with us being a tenant this is just something you've created in your own mind to justify your position.

We did all want (and still want) to own the Ricoh of course we did because it would help us move forward as a club but no one enjoyed the games less because we didn't own it and no one didn't go because of it.

I never said they did. I said if we returned it would be nice to at least "feel" like we did.

I would've thought all City fans would agree.

personalise it, what nonsense, it was already personalised for us, it was built for us. what needed to happen was sitting people together or covering parts of the seating to increase atmosphere, all completely easy to do without owning the ground, other than the fans who said if I can't have my seat I won't go anymore, strange how those same people like YOU! have moved happily onto sixfields where you can't have your Ricoh seat.

I see what you're saying, but to be honest not owning the Ricoh never really bothered me. Not being able to get a pint at half-time, that ticked me off good and proper though. I used to console myself with the thought that the cash never made it back to the club anyway!

If we ever get back, then I suspect I'll like the Ricoh a lot more second time around, and whine about it a bit less.

We can all agree that owning our own stadium is a good thing, we all wanted us to own the Ricoh. But it's just not true to suggest anyones issues with the Ricoh were because we didn't own it.

Blimey, can I just say that I'm feeling a bit sorry for Torchy here - he's made a couple of not unreasonable points and he's being hammered. I mean, I hate the bloke, but I still feel obliged to be at least a tiny bit polite.

I'm not sure what other personalising it needed though. It had the badge on it, sky blue seats, ccfc written into the seating.

In terms of ccfc signage, what did HR have that the Ricoh didn't?

It's not hypocrisy to prefer Highfield Road and also want to be at the Ricoh. People know Highfield Road isn't there, and the Ricoh is.

People would rather us play nearby in a stadium they don't really like than 35 miles away in another town, there's no dilemma or quandary to say that.

The turnstile bars were painted Sky Blue (or did I just make that up?).

I think it was the history that made it personal to me, rather than the decor. The Ricoh never saw a First Division/Premiership game for starters, so for me it kind of started off slowly and then went rapidly downhill. Would still be very happy to be back there though.
