I do not know any German player over here called "Ricky". Must be non-league footballer, then.

That's assuming he's played in this country before. I'd be more inclined to think he's actually been playing in Germany most of his career and "Ricky" was a name given to throw people off the cent...

Although the report is from Monday that game was played last Saturday, with Pinheiro scoring the opener in the fifth minute as Kassel went on to win 4-1.

Admittedly only seen him play a couple of times, but he's a very pacy left winger who's played for Germany's under 21 side a few times. Got an eye for goal as well.

And yet Sutty has seen him play on a couple of occasions, so is fairly well placed to say what he thinks of him as a player...

Halfar was playing for the team that finished 6th in bundesliega, can't see that one.

Ricky is more our level. 1, he is called Ricky, 2 he was born in Germany. 3 he is the right age. 4 he plays centre and right wing.

I am struggling to find the article now, but read that he us one if the reasons his club which have no money are doing well. So sounds like he could be good.

No Halfar finished 6th in the 2.Bundesliga the second league in Germany which is probably equivilant to the League 2

Wouldn't say he stood out for Munich, but it's a good standard. I'd be surprised if he came to League 1 but we can hope.

There is a big gulf in class between the top 2 German leagues and i think if Halfar came to England League 1 would be around his standard

German 2nd tier is equivalent to League 2? Ludicrous.

You beat me to it BSB. German 2nd Div the same as our 4th?? Ccfcisparks...you do know that the Germans are technically, probably the best footballers in the world right?! They're 4th Division is probably akin to our League.

Imagine though if we sign the brazilian striker, the german turns out to be halfar afterall and we finalise the jennings deal, i would actually be so confident of automatic promotion this year

They're all unknown quantities, which works for us in the sense that other teams will have something different to face, but against us in that we need to get them used to a new way of playing and settled in a new environment.

I work extensively in Germany and can tell you that some of the evaluation of the German leagues in here, in my opinion, is well-wide of the mark. Their lower leagues appear equally as strong as ours, and I would say that league-for-league, parity exists

Provided it is Cazarine, he could be a good pickup. At its best the A-League is League One standard, and he managed to score well enough in two seasons; plus, in his first season, he scored a goal every other game in the Asian Champions League. Sydney fans generally seem to rate him also, and they are notoriously hard to please.

Still don't think he's a 20-a-season man but we could do much, much worse.

i watched pretty much every game halfar played for 1860 last year, and have a pretty high opinion of him. he's a quick, skilful wide player who takes an excellent dead ball and was one of the highest rated players in 2.bundesliga when he was fit (his fitness issues are the biggest negative aspect of his game).

also, 2.bundesliga is at least as strong as the championship in terms of quality, and i would say that the top of the league is much stronger.

It's not about the quality, more the finances. I'm no expert on German football so don't know how they compare.

1860 are pretty much broke, so they won't be able to offer him anything decent at all

Day 2 and still no mention of the trialists names.

This is a proper top secret operation here.

Maybe it is Adriano or Alves after all...

I have to agree. My Sunday team went on tour to Germany last season, we played semi-pro outfit TV Grafenburg (not sure if that is the correct spelling) and they beat us 4-0. They treated it like a training exercise by keeping the ball for 20 to 30 passes at a time. It didn't help that it was blistering hot (even though it was only early May) and that we were all hungover but the way they passed it around from the back four through to the forwards was fantastic to watch. We're going again in February to take another hammering off them!
