Scores of 5 for EMC today are crazy. Are people expecting prime Ryan Giggs? Always seen by the opposition as a big threat, so he's subjected to constant physical battles. There's so much quality and strength in his play that seems to go unappreciated here.

The way he took that long ball down was class, and he was very unlucky not to get the pen. I can understand that to the officials in real time it probably looked like a two-way tangle, but I reckon VAR would give it because he's definitely dragged down.

The overall team performance wasn't as bad as people are saying. We've given up multiple chances in a lot of games this season without being punished like we were today. If Brum had fluffed a couple of them we might have come away with 3 points, and every player's score would be inflated by 3 or 4.

Grimes our best player today followed by EMC.

Eccles is an enigma …. Did some really good things but went huge chunks of the match barely touching the ball …. How do you play centre mid in a team with 75% possession and barely touch the ball ???

Get the ball in the middle, pass it off out wide, get into the box.

That’s what he was unreal at last year. Taking too many touches at the moment.

Is hardly a plus for our defending. Eventually you will get found out and punished. We play far too open.

I know a lot of blues fans, everyone singing the praises of Rudoni throughout the game today, as well as grimes and EMC...they were even say Simms was bossing it. Unlucky result, every chance they had was well taken, feels hard to take now, but we deserved a draw there.

I thought he had his best game in ages too

I think those marking him down believe this myth that he's a burden on the team and slows it down too much etc

I think he does something’s right but gets pushed off the ball too easily at times looking for cheap free kicks

He did very little today. And when he did get the ball in good areas 9/10 he chose the wrong option often deciding to do an extra step over. He's rated high on FotMob because he gave the ball to Eccles who scored a 30 harder. Other than that he created nothing. His xA was 0.02.

I would say if anything he is over appreciated, his song is constantly being sung even when he's not on the pitch. He is brilliant at arriving in the box late and 1 touch finishing, but a lot of his game is completely naive. He's often the one that initiates the physical battles, even when they aren't necessary. Today he was average. A 5 is an average mark.

Yeah I agree. But on lots of past occasions when we've got away with it, people on here have kidded themselves that "the opposition posed little threat", "we restricted them to very few opportunities", "we comfortably controlled them" etc. And if it hadn't been for a couple of outstanding finishes by Brum today the same kind of comments would have been trundled out again.

Our tactics mean we live dangerously, and up until Christmas it was a joyride.

I have mentioned before that some pre Christmas results flattered us because if teams had taken early chances against us results could have been different.

I agree we dominated possession today but should have created more. Birmingham took their chances and they were difficult chances to finish. But I still say the back four were poor for us today.

It is not all doom and gloom but we do have to become tighter and more resilient at the back in the second half of the season or there will be more afternoons like this.

Both our wingers were poor today, next to nothing went into the box from either of them. I still maintain EMC is no winger. All his best work is in and around the six yard box. Out wide he is slow and clumsy and we lose momentum. Those step overs he does are all done in slow motion and lead to nothing.

Against Watford, Charlton, Bristol City and Swansea for example all those teams had a lot of chances to score or add a 2 ND goal luckily they didn't. Now teams are not missing those chances against us.

None of that. Dribble about shimmying and blaming everyone else for a misplaced pass while the football world has eyes on the team I’m playing for with a top knot.

Add Blackburn to that.

Also teams now know they will get chances against us. They know how to get in behind us. Also us scoring less is partly due to other teams now closing us down on the edge of the penalty area and blocking a lot of shots. Because they know we have players who were scoring from those positions.

The first half of the season is easier because it accumulating points. The second half teams are wiser and wins and losses can have more significance. The second half is where the pressure will mount and we don't want to be the ones putting pressure on ourselves. Defenders are primarily there to defend, it is their main job. You don't concede you don't lose.

There was a run of 6-7 games where Rushworth was MOTM by a country mile.

He did well to break up play (ours) and waste time every time he needlesly kicked it out of play.

Simms, Eccles and EMC 6/7, rest 4s and 5s. The lack of being arsed to track back, mark and generally defend is so disappointing. You think they’d be busting a gut to keep their place with the opening of the transfer window. Need a massive regroup over the next fortnight.

Doesn't excuse the defending but it feels like 5 or 6 stonewalls not given now. Does not fucking help!

Agree with your ratings for Simms, Eccles and EMC, they all at least looked like they could potentially fight the tide in the bath.

MVE is a disgrace for not tracking back and should be flogged outside Ryton in the morning. The pathetic attempt to play them offside when he had broken the defensive line and even ITV were taking the piss out of his efforts to get back and help.

Complacency has creeped into the squad and the stands and it has to change very quickly or we will be repeating the 15/16 season or worse.

JDS also for the first goal. Wastes 5 seconds moaning at the ref, while his player gets a head start, then jogs back
