Genuine question. Why would they do that

To get the land sold and help the football club.

OR if they were being clever, they could make it an offer not to be refused, tease with some planning permission and call their bluff. Pretty much hand it to them on a plate.

They tried to do it before when Maton named the site in Radford (which later turned out to be reserved for housing that is being built).

They can get some money for the land, they can have 2 stadiums in Coventry etc.

Surely a no brainer and a win / win for the council? They either call SISU's bluff or they have another stadium built.

They have land they want, or are least seem prepared, to sell. They are aware the football club is looking for a site. The site they are looking to sell matches the size of site a stadium would need. They have previously gone on record stating there is no possible site for a new stadium within the city boundary, that seems to have changed.

A successful football club will be far more beneficial to the city than a successful rugby club. I would expect the local council to be doing what they can to assist our club in obtaining a position from which they can be successful.

I'm not gonna get involved, because I've witnessed threads that start like this
and up being 100s of pages long, and full of shit.
I just don't believe the council believe anymore than any of us believe that Sisu
will build a stadium.
Could ask em next time they see em in court though.

The way I look at it is if that's true then its win win for the council. Make it known publicly that there is land suitable for a stadium available to the football club and the council are happy to assist in anyway they can.

What do SISU do then? They either have to go for it or have their cover blown. Anderson already said the FL were taking more interest in something longer term being sorted.

All of an hour, if it's 100% never going to happen then it's a win win for the council, and it makes them look to be trying to help.

They weren't fussed about playing pr and media games before?

Why would anybody not want them to do it?

Quick question. Why can't the club ring the council?

It would give me even more reason to call their bluff...

It would also help my pr shed loads and make me look the better person...

They can and if you look towards the start of the thread I said SISU should be straight on the phone. Of course that is unlikely to happen as they have no intention of building a stadium.

So as far as I can see this is perfect for the council. Offer them the site and it makes it hard for anyone to say they are 'anti-CCFC'. If and when SISU say no then it makes the council look good.

Surely if the club isn't calling the council the bluff has already been called? Do you really think it's the job of a local authority to play silly buggers calling bluffs? I don't, I'm sure they have some real work to be getting on with without the distraction of playing childish games with an out of town hedge fund.

But why would they be interested in calling there bluff, what's done is done ,
i would imagine the thought of opening dialogue or negotiations with SISU
giives them shivers.

How would it help their pr if there is no mention of the land as a potential for a sports venue (or any land earmarked for development for that matter) in the draft Local Plan, which all LA's are obliged to produce under the National Planning Policy Framework.

Pointless thread

Sisu are definitely building a new stadium then ?
Wow, got to admire how they keep pushing for land to build it.
No wonder everybody is excited on here. At last the Sisu plan is starting to take shape and we can get behind them.

What pr it's finished isn't it, unless you think they can influence the Judges
decision by appearing to try and help the club.
Its over now,the rugger lot have the prize,Sisu fucked up and have fuck all, and I would
imagine the council are just glad to be out of it.

They all got re-elected and no one got sacked. Unlike our owners it doesn't look like they need the PR. Do you really think it's the job of local government to be playing games by calling bluffs of a hedge fund who no one believes anyway?

It seems to be, yes. It's made weber shandwick a fair whack I bet.

I guess you are right, they have the telegraph under control.

Can't really see why people would not want it happen? If it was viable that is. It's a win win.

Why don't SISU call the council and call their bluff? After all it wasn't that long ago the council were pointing out that they can't (despite what some people were claiming) turn down a planning application on the basis of it being SISU who are the applicant. Plus if it's already been offered to an out of town company at a discounted rate to attract them here they'd surely be under pressure to do the same to keep a local company here. Especially given recent history.

Again. So why don't SISU call the council's bluff?

The site sounds ideal to me. I just don't see it the job of a local government to be calling people's bluff.

If SISU are serious it's a good prospect. They spent time chasing Rugby Council perhaps it's time to start chasing CCC. As well as it not being CCC's job to call bluffs it's also not their job to run CCFC. If it's going to happen only SISU can make that happen. If SISU don't make that happen then there really isn't any bluff to call.

Equally, they should do if the site is viable (I'm no expert on the planning side of it so it could well be a no go).

So that puts an end to the council taking credit if jaguar or a company move here if it's only down to others to approach them...

It's not just about calling the bluff, it's actively trying to help the club isn't it? Nobody can fault it at all if there's a no strings offer there that's too good to turn down.

Equally, if there's a bit of land ready to go it build be appealing to potential new owners.

I know that Nick, I was being sarcastic, but public relations to who,if 10.000 cov
fans care & 5.000 of those blame the council & 3.000 of those are from the area
&1.500 of those actually vote.
Then I would suggest that SISU the club and us ,are something the council can
afford to &would be wise to ignore .

Problem is Nick Jaguar and Aston Martin for that matter were bringing something to the table. Namely jobs and unlike calling hedge funds bluffs chasing the development of jobs in the community is the councils job. If you really can't see the difference there's no helping you.
