DEFENDER TARGETS PROMOTION PUSH WITH SKY BLUES

REECE Brown has joined the Sky Blues with two things on his mind * to get games and help the club bounce straight back to the Championship.
The England Under-20 international has joined City on a season-long loan from Manchester United where he has been hotly tipped to follow in his brother Wes's footsteps.

But the athletic centre-back is more than happy to go down a well-trodden path in terms of getting league experience at another club and feels Coventry is the ideal stepping stone to one day fulfilling his dream to establish himself at Old Trafford.

“I can't wait for the games to start,“ said the 20-year-old who is set to make his City debut at Nuneaton tomorrow.

“I want to work hard every day and show Coventry that I'm a good player. I'll give 110 per cent in training and matches and the main thing is to help Coventry get promoted.

“I think we have certainly got the players, both that were already here and then with the new lads as well, and I don't see why we can't do it.

“I spoke to Ollie Norwood a few days before I came here and he said it was a great club and thought it would be a great experience for me. He said the Ricoh's a big stadium and there are great training facilities and he said I'd definitely enjoy my football here.

“And so far everything has been spot on. “I'm hoping to get a run out at Nuneaton tomorrow and I can't wait for the season to start.“

Brown spent the last two months of last season on loan at Oldham Athletic, so has already had a taste of League One football, as well as having had a loan spell at Doncaster in the Championship.

And while he's more than happy to get stuck into the physical side of the game at this level, he's also delighted that he's come to a club that wants to play their way out of the division.

“I was brought up trying to keep the ball at United where we do a lot of keep ball sessions, so I'm used to getting the ball and playing it out from the back,“ he said.

“When I was at Oldham I came up against a lot of long ball play with the ball in the air, so there was a lot of heading which is part of my game because I am a tall defender.

“But with the players Coventry have got here hopefully we will play good football. The training sessions have been great so far and I've really enjoyed it.

“We have got a few big lads at the back and up front so we should be big and strong at both ends.“

Great to hear young talent talking about the club in a positive way. Lest hope some of the doom merchants follow suit. Looking forward to the season now the attitude of the players that have come in is exactly what we want they are here to win. Long may it continue. PUSB

A lot of it boils down to the players attitude and also their desire to succeed.

New Gerzillian signing looks forward to securing mid table?

I love how people react to these "quotes"

I think we will go up this year but that's because of the team not because of what a player says. I mean as if they would release a negative quote,
