I can’t help but think that the reason Waghorn and Kane started yesterday was to put them in some sort of shop window:

“Look, these guys are Championship starters. Any clubs want to take them off our hands? How about a loan? Just pay 50% of their wages. Ok, 40%? 30%?….”

Sad fact is, can anyone see a club pay 10% of Waghorn’s wages?

What a frankly stupid signing. 31 years old. No resale potential. 2 year flat deal costing about £1.4m. Now. How much did well sell Hyam for and how much do we need him now?

Stupid.

This obsession with Waghorn has to stop. It wasn't a sign Waghorn vs keep Hyam.

At the time he wasn't a bad signing, plenty of experience and on a free, and a decent footballer. Despite lack of goals he started the season well linking up well with Viktor and part of the reason we had the explosive start to the season. Unfortunately his time here has been plagued by injuries and niggles and we haven't seen the best of him, so it's just not worked out.

There is still a player in there, he just needs game time. He was no where near as bad yesterday as some are making out, but it's easy just to scapegoat him for yesterday's performance.

And yes I can see a huge queue of clubs that would pay 10% of his wages to take him on loan. They'd snap your hands off.

For what its worth I thought Hyam was piss poor too at passing to his own team mates on a regular basis

Poor display yesterday. Only Bidwell scrapes a 7 as he scored. The rest Meh. Allen and Panzo particularly poor.
Whoever is coaching the strikers needs to tell one of them to attack the front post. Most of our crosses go between the front post and the centre of goal but no one seems to go too that position.

The ref yesterday was garbage. Inconsistent with his decisions all day. I know keepers are over protected but he gave Wilson no protection at all when Brizzle players took him out yet gave them a foul when Vik touched their keeper as just one example.

Not sure “company founder makes cringey posts on LinkedIn” is quite the smoking gun some seem to think.

Sheaf saved a certain goal with the online goal scramble and saved us a point, their keeper was motm caught absolutely everything not like old kick it out Wilson at the other end...Defence was shocking today midfield was way under strength Waghorn was dogshit yet again and we need to sell/loan him out or give him away its costing way way too much having so many misfits and injury plagued players and that dick head writing get rid of Robins needs his head wobbling

It was easy for their keeper to catch everything we put every cross to the same place he didn’t need to move to catch most of them unchallenged

yeah he was a decent keeper yesterday, same as allsop the game before. Confident, commanding and can distribute the ball

Unless he was injured, I didn’t understand taking Kane off. I thought he’d had decent game.
Dabo seems to have lost a yard of pace…he wasn’t great.

Waghorn had some lovely touches in the first 10 mins but like the rest of the team, was stifled by Bristol’s pressing game. They were decent and well drilled.

I think we look better with just Vik up top and an extra man in midfield.

Agree with this completely. I thought he was good until our goal went in. His runs and movement around the box compliment Gyokeres pulling wider. He disappeared for the last 20 minutes of the first half but mainly because we couldn’t get the ball out of our own half.

Pity for him the early chance didn’t go in, or that Gyokeres was determined to shoot on the couple of occasions he broke free in the second half when Waghorn was well placed for a square pass. Needs match sharpness and a goal for his confidence. And to not injure himself celebrating this time when it does come.

Of course, I’m not saying I wish to keep him, if the chance does come to offload him and use his high wages elsewhere I’d jump at the chance but given the injuries we have, I hope he’s given a run of games.

In fairness to him he's still getting himself into scoring positions which is a lot more than can be said for Godden earlier this season (the very early games aside)
