Bristol seating (1 Viewer)

Hi guys,

Quick boring question;

I'm a season ticket holder going to the Bristol game. A group of me and my friends already have our tickets, but now an extra friend wants to join us. I noticed on the online store that you have to select specific seats, it's not just general admission, so an extra seat would be allocated somewhere else in the stand. It's been a little while since I went to an away game, how seriously do people follow their seat allocation? Do people ignore it and just sit anywhere (this is what I'm used to at away games) or do you have to sit where you select?

I used to live in Bristol and have been to a handful of away games there but I can't remember how seriously seat numbers were taken.

The last time i went to BC was a tuesday night. You could pick where you wanted to sit!

I would ignore it and squeeze him in, most stand anyway!

Unless they have recently updated their seats it is much safer to stand.

notts county was sit/stand where you can. Didn't even look at my ticket (paid on the gate though)

In the Ateyo stand for the Jpt game i just sat wherever.

I've never bothered to check which seat I'm in at an away game.....

...that did backfire once at Goodison Park in the early 90's, where, (long story short) I ended up watching the game on me own in no-mans land flanked by 2 scouse stewards....

My views on sit where you like at away matches vary depending on the situation and amount of seats etc

For example, if there is a group of 4 or 5 of us and we have seats together and someone is in them, we will ask them to move (and to be fair that request has almost been granted with no problem) , as we obviously don't want to be scattered. After all, that why we would have bought in advance in the first place.

If I am in a group of 2 and someone are in our seats and there is plenty of empty seats then we'll just go elsewhere - no big deal.

Reading a Bristol City forum it seems like some are talking about buying tickets in our end as they have sold their own allocation for the promotion party.

They reckon we have sold 600 of an allocation of 991.

Aside from England home games and a few club games that have sold out that I've been to recently I rarely sit in my allocated seat.

Heard that there will be a fair few of them in our end. I don't mind it tbh as long as everyone behaves themselves.

I hope our fans applaude Bristol City's achievement, it is well deserved this season. Then I hope there is a good game with us taking the points. They can dance on the pitch because they are promoted and hopefully we can dance because we are safe.

Over 17 years of following City away and never once sat in allocated seat, way I see it away and it always has been a general rule amongst many is sit where you want!

Fat chance of that happening if they do end up in us and they celebrate / make themselves known. Wont happen anyway as we will sell the allocation.

We may well sell our allocation, but we have no way of knowing how many of them have been bought by Bristol fans.

There are normally about 8 of us, we use the rule if the tickets are sold out we sit in our right seats, if people are in them they are shifted out. If it's half empty and loads of space we go wherever.

Completely disagree, there were 12 of us at Notts County, bought seats in 2 rows of 6 so we could all sit together. Is it so hard to find the seat number on your ticket?

If it's a game where we've had small numbers attending (like Colchester or Oldham) then it's ok, as you can still find blocks of seats together pretty much where you want, but not when the stand is nearly full.

Just go wherever you wanna go mate. I've gone to all but 5 away games this year and not once have i sat in the seat i bought. No-one does

Nah if your a regularly away attendee you pretty much know the drill its been the same for years and years.

99% of away games, stewards encourage sit where you like anyway.

Firstly; sit where you like means the vocal fans who stand, first of all can get to the back and not get in the way of others.

Second; not always possible to co-ordinate large groups to buy sequential seats

But yes, if seating isn't widely available, can understand a group of say 12 wanting their actual seats
