Expect the same 11 possibly Dasilva in for Bidwell. Quite fortunate to win the cup last week can’t see us doing it again. That Mayulu for them looks a handful, I’m going for a 1-1 draw.

Hopefully we turn up for this one and don’t play as conservatively as we did away at Stoke. Our record away from home in the first few months of the season tends to be quite poor.

Doubt he'll change a winning side, but Kitching for Binks would be my change.
If Sheaf is available, doubt he will be started.
Rodrigues close to a return?

Agreed, I know he didn’t score but he did play well against us and has scored two already this season.

A draw here would be a good result, particularly if we can beat Norwich at home which seems well within the realms of possibility at the moment.

Not suggesting it and we would need to change how set up but with Bidwell starting the season out of sorts and Dasilva being somewhat of a liability defensively would we ever seen Kitching at left back?

I noticed him in some of the indoor training activities in the latest City Unseen videos. However, neither him or Sheaf are in any of the outdoor, "on the grass", training. I think they are both someway off being involved in a squad.

Personally think this set-back for Rapha will see him in the u21s to start with.

Can't see us keeping a clean sheet. Can see us scoring goals. God knows which way it will go. Except against the really big clubs like Leeds I always think we have a chance of a win.

Key decisions
Bidwell v Da Silva - Bidwell every time, even off form, and particularly away from home

Central defence - Thomas and Kitching for me, but it will be as per Oxford, which puts a high onus on Binks to deal with the aerial stuff

Attack - Haji plus two from Simms, EMC and Sakamoto. Might just tinker with EMC on the right and use Saka as an impact sub against a tiring defence.

Same team for me. Think as a manager you lose reasoning power if you change following a win.

Think we'll see Dasilva brought on earlier in the next few games as I think he's had a stronger start to the season than Bidwell personally. JD made some blunders last season which eroded his credibility in that position but he's done well to highlight his strengths when he's come on recently - case in point the Simms goal vs Bristol.

He’s only kept 2 clean sheets in 20 league game appearances for us. Class act on the ball but there’s a reason he was 2nd choice behind Kitching last season.

The reason he was second choice is that we paid 4m for Kitching and Binks was on loan. Kitching got sent off 3 times in the second half of the season. Binks has the shirt until Kitching wins it back

We took 4 points from Leeds last season and they've lost their 3 best players since then?

Yes that is all true and in the only game Kitching was available, we kept a clean sheet. Arguably, he already has if we keep a clean sheet v Oxford on the 27th.

As I said in the Oxford United match thread upon the team being announced, if we play ‘1 clean sheet’ Binks alongside Latibeaudiere, we will need to score 3 to get a win. That is possible against (with respect) Oxford United at home, but unlikely against Bristol City away. Kitching and Thomas must be the central defensive pairing. If we do have serious intentions of being in the top 2 or 3 then it’s got to the point where we have to be looking to win at the more difficult places such as Bristol City

I dont think any of the goals we conceded were really anything to do with Binks? 2 x Bidwell mistakes and a Simms mistake?

Just dont think hes done anything to warrant losing the shirt. And his crossfield balls to MVE are a very useful attacking weapon

Surprised how many people are saying they'd be happy with a draw for this. We beat them, albeit not in a great fashion, with a weakened team and have played a lot better since. I want a win

Really?

Binks lost a header in our own box which surely played a contributing factor in their first goal? Likewise, look at how close he was to the goal scorer for their second. The second goal he can get the BOD because it was quite lucky but you bet he and the management reckon he (and others) could’ve done better.

Rewatch the Stoke goal where Binks challenges someone, doesn’t win the ball and Thomas is running back to cover that LCB channel, leaves too much space for the finish. If you go that far from your position, you need to win the ball or concede a foul.

I don’t like picking on scapegoats because most goals are a collective failure. I take the view that Kitching is a lot better defensively than Binks.

I’ll end this on a positive because Binks’ work in possession is the best we have. If he improves in the defensively he’s a Prem ready CB.

What??? If anything it should be easier second time round as we will start our best available 11. And the players will know what to expect down there.

We should expect 5 or 6 changes from the first game, and I'm expecting a more comfortable win. 2-0 or 3-1

Bristol didn’t really create any clear cut chances either. They weren’t anything special and if we play as we did against Oxford, we’ll blow these away.

My prediction is 2-1.

Don’t know why people would take a draw, if we’re aiming for promotion we need to unhappy with anything less than a win imo. Bristol will most likely finish 10th-14th, it’s obviously not must win but we should be beating many of these sorts of teams with the level we’re aiming for.

2-0 Cov I reckon.

Don't think we can compare what happened in the cup game. We started 2 of the previous league game and they started 5. It's going to be 2 different teams.

Don't think we will play like we did at Stoke, well hope not, the players are getting fitter, so expect the same Tempo as the Oxford game.

Kitching has appeared at LB at times in his career (esp in his early days at Barnsley IIRC).

Not sure I’d pick him over Bidwell all things being equal. But defo an option. Wide players are getting bigger and it’s not unusual to see players over 6ft at full back these days.

Bristol have 3500 tickets left. It’s a big game for us both.

So early kick off/ sky sports+. Will we sell out. Knowing City fans…Fair chance.

Just had a look at the stats on this out of curiosity. Went for 8 games/one third of the way through.

23/24 - won 1 first 8 away games, won 7 of remaining 16
22/23 - won 1 first 8 away games, won 6 of remaining 16
21/22 - won 2 first 8 away games, won 5 of remaining 16
20/21 - won 0 first 8 away games, won 4 of remaining 16
19/20 - won 0 first 8 away games, won 7 of remaining 9 (season obviously cut short)

Definitely seems to be a bit of a trend that we’re slow out of the block away from home.

Still think they are very powerful and that draw there last year was probably the best and most unlikely result of the season
