Yes for real. The NOPM is a double edged sword though IMO, by not giving SISU money is not giving CCFC money and the team support. I totally agree and understand that, I want them gone as much as the next person but I just can't see them leaving anytime soon. Mind you I would love to be proved wrong. These are hard nosed business people who will only budge for the right price, I can't see how starving them of income will make them leave. What's stopping them from just pulling the plug? Ha maybe we should.. buy the suckers out ourselves lol.

Although it seems like there is confusion on what NOPM stands for. As I understood it, it was NOPM whilst SISU were in charge seems like it could also be NOPM whilst not in Coventry, or both. For me, if we're back at the RICOH then I'll go. I'm even starting to confuse myself now. :facepalm:

My heart is here in Coventry and I intend to do everything I can to get them back.
I know if they stay in Northampton, we are finished but have to at least do everything I can to try and bring them home.

Otis they are not going to ever get 10,000 at Northampton and by saying they will fund the gap while away suggest the term is short and they did not expect any large support 35 miles away.
So logic says they will return to the Coventry area asap. OK so where? Currently according to the press they have secured one site and are in talks on another. Still don't believe them? Well I do because it makes sense if they can't get their hands on the Ricoh in some equal income supporting way and the only people who can do that are the Council/ACL.
Just might be the reason these rumoured last minute talks are taking place don't you think?

Pax, it is not what I am saying.

My comments are in respect of those supporters who say we should all go and watch the team in Northampton.

IF we all went there would be full houses and Sisu would make money. Everything at the moment is based on us losing money with really small crowds. I am merely responding to those who say we should all go to Sixfields and support the team. For me I feel that would be a retrograde step.

I want the club to make money, but I also want the club here in Coventry and not in maybe 3 years, 5 years or however many years it may take.

If we want Coventry City back in Coventry how the hell is attending games at Sixfields going to help that cause?

Sisu may want to build a stadium in Coventry. They may well be intent on returning, but if they had a nice little earner going on in Northampton then I feel there is no incentive for them to hurry back here to Coventry.

If they are here for the long haul as they say and will not leave, as has been adamantly predicted, then surely us not going is going to hurry up any new stadium in Coventry.

It keeps the club alive long enough for either a solution to be found re: Ricoh/ a new ground plan to actually be real / keeps the club viable enough to not be wound up for a bit, so there's hope there's something to sell to someone who wants to take them back.

I weren't on about Northampton, I was thinking more along the lines of the last 5 years at the Ricoh and if we had a future at the Ricoh

If the 30k that attended the Crewe match went on a regular basis we would probably have got rid of SISU years ago

What happened at Charlton
For many years, the Valley was the largest League ground in London, with a capacity of up to 75,000. The East Stand (or rather bank) was by far the largest stand in English football.[1] However, Charlton's long absence from the top level of English football prevented much-needed renovation. Eventually, the club's debts led to bankruptcy administration. A consortium of supporters successfully acquired the club in 1984, but the Valley remained under the ownership of the club's former owner. However, the club was unable to finance the improvements needed to make the Valley meet safety requirements. The next year, Charlton left the Valley, entering into what became the first official groundshare in The Football League, with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. However, the Greenwich Borough Council overwhelmingly turned down plans to renovate the ground. However, it seems that those who are going to do away games only are (or think they are) better fans than those who wish to attend "home" games. It stinks really. There are no better fans.

Unfortunately we will have those who either; Won't go and say they are the proper fans for staying away and the Sixfield's followers are scabs, or those who will go and will say they are the proper true fans for going.

All this whole situation is doing is tearing fans apart and breaking unity.


We need all the fans we can get. I can think of nothing worse that us all being divided up into factions.

For me there are two issues Torch.

Firstly, we attempt to starve Otium of revenue - hence the boycott of home games (and if Grendel is reading this, the boycott of away games unless the tickets are bought from the away club blah blah blah).

Secondly, we have large away attendances to show that we are still supporting the team. In some minor way, this may embarrass the Football league for their rather spineless actions. Has there ever been a season where a team's away attendances have been higher than their home attendances?

The second issue is certainly more symbolic than practical, but sometimes symbolism can be important.

Tommy, no it won't embarrass the League. They really don't care as long as the competition kicks off as it should. "Integrity" remember.
