We can only field 5 loans - a few times already we have hit the ceiling and left one or two out.
Nouble on a short contract is different from Nouble on loan.
Oh, and he can't be recalled.

So now if we wished to get further loans, we would have flexibility to do so. The same if the Aaron Martin deal becomes permanent.

Yay more loans... FFS!! No wonder we have no one with any real value in the squad when half are loan players or on 1 year contracts.

Improving the first team
The budget is competitive for League One. It is not simply a case of just ‘buy more and better players and the sky is the limit’, we have to ensure there is a discipline to run the business along sensible and sustainable financial lines.
The immediate goal is to improve the first team group – both across individuals and team dynamic, by recruiting players not only of the right abilities and skill sets, but also the correct character to fit the Pressley ethos.
Today, we have an imbalance in the ratio of loan to permanent players in the squad. The loan market provides an opportunity for clubs to bolster squads – however, we simply have too many loan players.
While loan players can work well there are inherent problems. The introduction of loan players from clubs which do not have the same work or stamina ethic creates injury risk. The players are not ‘game ready’ – they have not played in the first team regularly and do not have the required level of fitness.
We have identified a number of players we would want to bring in on a permanent basis and Steve Waggott is working hard to achieve that goal.
There is a process around due diligence including the technical, physical and psychological aspects of a prospective player. There is a medical and fitness test plus a medical history check prior to the signing of a player.
Further, players coming in need to reflect the DNA of the club going forward – leadership, aggression and work ethic. A key aspect of player due diligence is spirit and the ‘will to win’ – neither of which can be picked up in a medical or fitness test.
Beyond recruitment, the club has invested in sports science and technology. The first team support is Championship-standard and with areas of the technology moving way beyond Championship standard including ground-breaking performance analysis and player monitoring across physiological and sports performance – combining both training and match day data capture.

Too many loans according to that bullshit 5 point plan released by them tossers.

I guess Nouble fits in then

Christ! You're moaning about someone suggesting this gives us flexibility to get loans in!

you realise right there are options in between 4 month and 4 year contracts? I know you do but you don't post like you do. There is no way this club ever succeeds on loans,4 month and 1 year contracts especially when they are all gambles. Gamble succeeds no benefit after the contract runs out, gamble fails no benefit at all. no way to make a big profit on a player, no way to build a squad.

So we want commitment from players but not fans who will only go if we are in the top 6?

We don't know the terms though do we? What if Pressley wants to take him on for 4 months to see how he gets on rather than sign him up long term and we have the option for "first dibs" at the end of the season?

I can already see he is a good player.
He will be better if they gave him a longer contract IMHO.

The spin that comes from Waggots mouth about having funds available in the January Transfer window.

Skyblueduff. You come on here spouting off. Today is January 8th, the transfer window has 3 more weeks to run. Judge at the end of the month. Like you I am frustrated about CCFC but I see a number of changes for the better in recent months. I believe things are moving in a positive way and 2015 will see a return of better fortunes. Will we make the play offs, not sure, but maybe. Will we get relegated, definitely not.

There is a clear pattern emerging here and at almost every other football club in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th tier.

Youth players are tied down with longer term contracts, because if they develop into good quality players there is protection for the club in terms of a return on their investment.

Older players are now more and more often on 12/18/24 month contracts. The reason is that the overwhelming majority of them have no resale value in the future. This is the way it is currently. That is not exclusive to our club or our owners. If you think about some of the players we have picked up over the last 3 seasons... all free transfers, loans turning permanent - and there have been some good players, as well as some rubbish.

A lot of the team challenging at the top of this league spent nothing or next to nothing on transfer fees... so how can their model be right and ours so spectacularly wrong?

Some people need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture sometimes...

I agree he is a good player and if he was to play every game at 100% I would want him here for the rest of his career if he played to his full potential every game.

If that's the formula for a good player then Emmanuel Adebayor should be nominated for the Ballon D'Or with Messi and Ronaldo.

We want players to feel that they are wanted at this club and be proud to wear the shirt.
If I was Frank I would not feel part of this club, just passing through.
We can see his potential but that will not be fully realised at this club.
He's in the shop window now for a move somewhere else.
Unbelievable

Perhaps Nouble only wants to sign a short term deal? Use the 4 months to work hard, score goals, secure a better contract at a higher level. Then once there go on to better things or sink back slowly to this level picking up a big wage. However we benefit for the time being.

So would you not rather we sign players who are on a free or pay a small fee for a player rather than a loan player who is just here to A - pick up a wage and play half arsed, or B - put themselves in the window to move elsewhere whilst we add nothing to our squad other than a player for a couple of months.

Where is the long term vision, where is the speculate to accumulate by signing someone who could become a good player and be bidded for by a higher division club generating some revenue?

because their model is simply not the same, there is a big difference between keeping the majority of your squad and spending nothing than changing the majority of your squad, losing your best players, making millions in sales and spending nothing.

There is a massive massive difference between signing players on a 1 year and a 2 year contract in squad stability, getting benefit when your signings do well, being able to build and mold a squad and profiting if a player does well and wants to leave.

Who knows ?
He's a good player if the manager doesn't know how to get the best from him then one of them needs to go.

short term contracts the best you can hope for is the player is good for the short period of time you have them and that the player takes the short period of time to prove themselves to other clubs rather than simply not give a shit. So while we can't know if the signing will work or not we can know what the best we can hope for is and that best case scenario is not good enough.

Our match day Squad at the weekend vs our squad at the final game of last season 8 months ago.

Only players in both squads Webster, Thomas, Fleck, Burge and finch. 5/18

opps and Willis 6/18

The very fact he is signing a short term contract suggests our manager would not be the first to get the best out of him, if that turns out to be the case.

Just checked sheff United's that final game vs their last game (v QPR)

Only players in both squads - doyle, Flynn, Baxter, howard, scougall, murphy, dimaio 7/18. Not massively different to our turnover.

1. I never said anything about that. 2. You're moaning about conjecture. 3. As has been pointed out, short term deals aren't out of the ordinary at this level.

What I'm saying is, wait until everything's sorted and details of actual deals are known before moaning about something.

sure but they paid for 5 of their players, most of their signings (7) are on 2 year contracts, only have 2 loans (none currently) one of which they have offered money to buy and it was the first proper chance for the newish manager to build a team, I don't see this as being similar to our behavior.

I am happy with this approach regarding Frank. He is an enigma. We could give him a two year deal and he does nothing. This way he performs to earn a long term contract. If he does brilliant yes we will probably lose him in the summer. But at least we get 4 good months out of him.
