my take which i feel im about to get alot of butt hurt for is at 23 he has played for 11 clubs, never really been a consistent goal threat and while been with us he has had the odd good game but most the time stands around doing nothing hes got talent but even pressley has pointed out he has an attitude problem or as he put it he has premier league talent but not mentality. if we could settle him down and get him consistent he would be worth a punt but i really doubt we could (would fit in with the usual pressley signings so we probably will bring him in and release him in march)

Fantastic news on both Nouble and Martin, no doubting that some of the players here are good players but we need to see a bit of stabilisation in terms of signings.

Yes I agree its good news. Only doubt is the amount of clubs Nouble has had but a 4 month contract hardly seems high risk. No doubt he is a good player but his attitude is the question and from what we know he can go wanting if not all going his way. Saying that I really want reda to stay on even despite his injury record because he is a fantastic player at the end of the day.

Fantastic news? It's fucking bullshit that's what it is. We have to basically offload Jordan just to fund a move for Martin? We are only giving Frank a 4 month contract? What did Waggot say last month, funds ARE available? More spin and if Frank does well in that 4 months, he's free to sign for anyone else. Fuck off Waggot, fuck off SISU, fuck off SP with your small balls too!

Look at the players who's contracts run out in June. Back to square one for us all over again. Long term plan isn't it?

SISU OUT!!!!

you dumb shit

pressley has stressed he wants to sort out recruitment so that only hard working individuals are at the club, this 4 months is perfect time to see if moussa is cut out for that or another manset

and jordan clarke is one of the worst players to ever put on th cov shirt, to get rid and bring in martin would be a master stroke.

Believe which spin? Sisus or the scare mongering shite all over social media and here? Both the same.

That contract we gave David bell was term wasn't it? Was that so great?

If some people were in charge we would have the andy morrel types signed up for 10 years because they run a lot. While stern john is released because he didn't look interested.

The spin that comes from Waggots mouth about having funds available in the January Transfer window.

Also this needs reminding to some people it seems.. http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sp...ws/callum-wilson-cash-reinvested-back-7387302

Still waiting for his 'maneuvers'.

You do realise that funds don't always mean transfer fees though?

Of course, reduced wage bill, FFP, blah blah blah, signed players in the summer who effectively replaced the ones who left, so like I said, still waiting for his 'maneuvers'.

If a 4 month contract is all it takes to excite City fans nowadays, then it's appalling. Comfortable with shit it seems.

Nah it is a player taking 4 or 5 players on and having a shot that excites me.

good news, but its not really any different to a loan till the end of the season, other than he cant be recalled (which Ipswich had no intention of doing) and it gives SP a chance to sign another loanee.

I would rather he signed a 16 month deal so we actually had a bit of stability. Whilst I don't 100% agree with skyblueduff, it does feel pretty grim that we ae now signing players with a shorter contract than I have with my gym !

Who are? Love the derailing by people like you...

By the way Nouble is free to talk to any club in his 4 months here, great business if he indeed does well...

We want commitment from players.
We want players to feel that they are wanted at this club and be proud to wear the shirt.
If I was Frank I would not feel part of this club, just passing through.
We can see his potential but that will not be fully realised at this club.
He's in the shop window now for a move somewhere else.
Unbelievable

Who knows what could be part of the deal. Coventry may have a deal to say we have 1st choice after the first 4 months to extend for a further 12. Anything can happen in the small print these days. End of the day it would be better to have him for 4 months than none.

So we want commitment from players but not fans who will only go if we are in the top 6?

We don't know the terms though do we? What if Pressley wants to take him on for 4 months to see how he gets on rather than sign him up long term and we have the option for "first dibs" at the end of the season?

City boss said: “That’s good because we’ve been waiting on Frank sorting it out at that end.“We put an offer to his agent and the player and I believe we had an agreement in place on that so I would hope we can conclude something with Frank in the next 24-48 hours.”
Although Nouble has worked hard in his last two games to overcome Pressley’s doubts, the striker still has to prove he’s worth a long term contract.
“The initial deal will be until the end of the season,” said Pressley. “I spoke to Frank on the phone on Monday night and said to him that he’s got four months of the season left and he needs to use that to prove to us that he’s got longevity at the club, and he seemed determined to do that.
“I think it’s a big four months in Frank Nouble’s career and I have said that to him. The next four months could define how his career works out. But he seems hungry and has shown a terrific attitude in recent weeks which I had asked for and, allied with his ability, I hope we have got a good player for the club in the short term and, possibly, longer term.”

* Possibly, longer term. But at present the longer term plan is to rebuild an entire new squad after we find out which league we'll be in (should be League One).

But other clubs can offer him a contract whilst he is with us. It's just crap.

Infact other clubs can now offer pre contract deals to all these players:

Webster
Daniels
Jackson
Reda
Pugh
Barton
Lawton
Clarke
Tudgay
Miller
Nouble
Willis

And all of those apart from Johnson and maybe Willis are players that people go on about as being shit though aren't they anyway?

It is like the argument about us being relegated because we played Bigirimana but when he was sold he was the best player ever?

If we do not put a clause in his contract for an extra 1 year at least if we please, then it is a absolute joke, and we may as well not bother signing him , as all will happen is he will play well and move on elsewhere in the summer.

He is 23 ffs bags of potential and available on a free transfer, I don't give a shit about previous goal scoring records, each team is different, we could mould him into a good player, but we will just have to see if anything is mentioned about the prospect of an extra year etc if/ when he signs.

first dibs? what could this entail? I can't imagine a scenario where this means anything. Lets say he does well, we get "first dibs" and offer him a contract. His agent has been hearing that championship clubs want him so he turns it down. Either he wants to stay and we are willing to offer what he wants in which case he stays, or he isn't or we arn't in which case he doesn't, first dibs is meaningless.

Honestly this is probably the best we could have hoped for so we should be happy I guess, but it's just further proof that the club isn't building for the long term, Pressley is not able to build a squad and we almost certainly have another shit year coming up next year with us again having to replace the majority of the squad with gambles.

if you have a football ticket you are going to sell for face value then first dibs means alot, in a situation like this though it just doesn't exist.

no player signs that deal. that means he is tied into a 16 month contract where he could be chucked out after 4. That wouldn't be a 4 month contract, it would be a 16 month one where one side only has a break clause.

effectively a short term signing just like a loan really though isn't it......... glad we are to sign him but whats the difference in loan or 4 mth contract really ? Just so it isn't called a loan if I was to be sceptical?

Give it 2 months when Nouble looks like he can't be arsed again and all these will be very glad we offered him such a short deal. I think its quite a clever move from the club. If he does not perform in these 4 months then his career may as well be over, he will have added another club to his list of failures.

Every player we've signed has been a gamble, Nouble is no exception.

But its pretty obvious he is unable to motivate himself, compare his work rate to O'briens for instance, If Nouble had a work ethic he would be a hell of a player!

Shall we waste our entire budget on one player and a lengthy contract? Or would you actually think the wise thing to do is utilise it to it's maximum by being able to sign 2,3 even 4 players?

We can only field 5 loans - a few times already we have hit the ceiling and left one or two out.
Nouble on a short contract is different from Nouble on loan.
Oh, and he can't be recalled.
