Is there anywhere else in the team for Brau? That cameo on Saturday was pretty impressive...

there's a big gaping hole at LB for the next three!

Hopefully he will get a little run in the team when Jay is suspended and his role can be assessed when we see how he performs. I like the little we have seen of him.

The forgotten man! I was at the St. Pauli game in pre season and I thought he was a nippy player who is also good at putting a ball in too. I just can't believe Bidwell has been getting ahead of him when Da Silva hasn't featured. Hopefully now he can get the nod in these next three games.

We were at the Bristol Rovers friendly and he looked good in that. Skillful and powerful. Surprised he's not had more gametime, even with the impressive form of JDS. He wasn't even in the squad against Bristol City.

He looks more like a wing back than a full back, from what we've seen so far. I think it obvious he probably isnt quite trusted to do the defensive work required in a back 4.

Seems decent enough on the ball but in his brief appearances earlier in the season his positional sense and discipline was very poor.

I would imagine Bidwell will start, but could see Brau getting some more minutes off the bench.

A home game against Swansea would be the ideal time to give him a start.
If he isnt considered good enough to be in the team for that game then we really need to be asking questions.

Young lad, first season here. Good going forward, but in fairness probably needs a low champ or high L1 loan.

If Frank reads the room and the atmosphere is a bit flat though, bring him on for 20 at the end to give the crowd a boost.

I think the six months of training he’s done in front of the coaching staff will mean more than a 40 minute cameo last Saturday. He handled himself well when he came on but we still have very little idea what we actually have here.

I reckon he starts against Swansea in a back 5 if Kitch and Thomas are back, if they’re not I reckon Bidwell starts in a back 4

Massive risk/reward decision here. JDS has been integral to our success with his attacking play (if not direct assist and goals) and ability to retain possession.

Bidwell just doesn’t give us that anymore (if ever) and so that immediately hampers the team. He needs to be solid defensively to make up for it. Brau looks like he may give us the attacking option, but at the cost of defending (we think).

Brau has the better song so he’s in for me, otherwise I’m not sure either way (unless we go back 5).

No way are starting with a 5 at home v Swansea, so that's out. JDS has been immense, but Bidwell was thought better of the two until back end of last season and he'll be fine. Had a stinker at Wrexham but wasn't alone and lots of changes. As our only non-starter with the rest of the first 11 around him I have no concerns.

Got to agree with this. Defensively I think Bidwell is better as Brau still looks a little niece there even though he looks good going forward. This was evidenced by Lampard choosing Bidwell to come on first then moving to a back 5 on Saturday. This enabled Brau to play to his strengths and Bidwell his.

I’d start him in a back 4 against Swansea. I’d give him all three games of Dasilva’s suspension and make the call in who retains the spot after that. I think he’s a good player and with a run will show it.

They may try KKH at left back, played that position for Preston a few times, perhaps slightly more solid in defence and also leaves EMC to hug the touch line more

Different story if EMC goes down too. Need the LW to track back and Wright wont do that as effectively exposing the LB

Really??? Maybe you just haven't given the Jake Bidwell song enough time. find a version of it and get it on repeat play and just close your eyes and listen to it for 30 minutes...there are just so many layers to that song that aren't obvious to the untrained ear! You'll thank me in time.

I've liked from the brief times he's played. Been caught out positionally a few times, which is probably why he's been eased in, as he adapts to this League, but his passing, pace and trickery has looked good. He was signed to give us options at LWB and LB. Bidwell can't play LWB now, and if JDS is out for a spell (as he is now) Brau gives us that option. His cameo on Saturday was another highlight of the day. He also defended well against Fellows one-on-one. If we start with a 4 on Boxing Day I think Frank will go with Bidwell though.

Guy is technically very good. Good touch, can dribble, quick and against Saints he seemed a lot more disciplined in his position. Got to remember he’s come over from Spain to a new country and league which is ultra competitive. So he’s been training hard and has a good rapport in the squad.

Fully deserves a chance with JDs out. He seems quite different to what we have.

Guess the question is, is he more of a LWB but can he operate at LB in a 4?

I like him, but it just seems to me with where we're at it that it's just a risk we don't need to take. Bidwell will never set the world alight but for this short period is a safe pair of hands.

Don't understand why you'd risk an unknown or someone playing out of position versus an experienced campaigner who has played his entire career not only in this position, but also at this level. 400 games. He's not suddenly become a bad player overnight and it's zero risk.

Bidwell has done well as the left CB of a back 3 when called upon but as a fullback he's totally washed. I'd sooner try Brau honestly.

It's not overnight - it's been ages since he was a regular starter here. He's only getting slower with age, and we're playing a quicker system that demands defenders who can play a high line and are comfortable with the ball at their feet.

He doesn't suit us at all these days and his sole league start this season was pretty disastrous.

I take issue there,Bidwells crossing has been pinpoint, whether the attacker's have read the room is more to the point, people are too quick to get rid he's solid back up for me anyway!

Brau is young, come from a lower league in Spain, has not just joined a new club but moved to a new country. He has had to adapt to a different and higher level of football.

Fans just don't seem to get it, it takes time for players to settle. Especially when they don't have a history of moving clubs.

Premier League Clubs expect it to take 12 months for a young foreign player to settle.

He will be 24 next weekend, and hes been training with us long enough to be trusted for a home game against Swansea.
He won't be playing against Barcelona, just a poor team in a relegation fight from the second level of English football.
Let's not make out this game is something its not.

Dasilva being out will really affect the way we play.

He's a big part of how we keep possession and he's so good at keeping and moving the ball in tight spaces. He also links very well with EMC.

OOnly Grimes makes more passes per game and only Rudi makes more passes into the penalty area.

Brau will be a better option on the ball than Bidwell who is so limited, but the latter is going to be much stronger defensively.

Tricky decision which to go for.

I can't help but worry about the prospect of Philogene/Jack Clarke up against Bidwell on the 29th...

Wouldn't be opposed to Brau playing
