Has played 45 mins at LB all pre season and today, has Lampard signed him to be a LW?

If so, then we need another LB no, as Bidwell and Dasilva arent good enough. Thoughts?

Strange he's playing him high up and in front of the fullback.
Surely there are better options at wide left!?

Just back in and haven't fully reflected, but I thought Dasilva was one of our better players today! If not m.o.m.....

Probably letting him get used to the pace of things, I like the look of him has a decent left foot and is the right height

Positionally Brau was all over the place albeit he looked lively.

Spent half the time stood directly next to Wright, meaning we had zero width and JDS had nothing but pitch infront of him.

If we play him LW, Frank needs to work on that

Looks like he needs time to bed in to me. Did some good stuff today but as you said looks a bit all over the shop. Maybe he was just trying a bit had to be involved in his first game

Jesus if you think it’s odd that Brau is being introduced gently to the championship then give your head a wobble.

If you have watched pre season you will know he can deliver a ball but is clearly still adjusting to the pace.

I’m sure he play left back once Frank thinks he’s ready.

Dasilva was excellent today generally, LB was far from our biggest issue. But Brau is no LW. Neither is BTA. Wright is though and we refuse to play him there. Curious all round.

Frank doesn’t think Simms, BTA or Bassette are the answer. He’s hoping Wright is that central striker we are missing. That’s why he’s playing him there.

Da Silva is like new signing he even did well against a player twice his height

Agree, think he's just being cautious. Nice way to get to see tge pace and positions without the initial responsibility. Think he'll be confirmed starter probably after international break. I like KKH too, thought with Milan on a booking he might have got 15 mins.

Brau will be the starting LB. Just easing him in. Simply can’t stay with JDS. He can’t defend.

When chasing a goal though quite an indictment that he brought a LB on whem the obvious swap seemed to be Haji LW and Simms up top. Would be amazed if Simms is here at the end of yge window having not featured either Sunderland game either.

Dasilva got exposed time and time again on the few times they attacked. MVE gets away with it as he has pace to track back. Dasilva hasn’t and gets caught out of position easily. Against better teams it’s going to again be a problem.

Brau is fine on a free, not sure he will be on big wages but hes a project and anyone saying we are investing well by bringing him in is doug-pilled.

In bringing Brau on I expected him to play LB and push JDS further forward - it was a bit curious.

For what it’s worth, I thought JDS was amongst our top 3 performers today. LB far from our problem area….

Defensively they got in behind him far too easy.

He is good in possession, 1 on 1 he's fine, but his achilles heel is that ball in behind.

One game or 15 games , we have 3 players that can play left back

Seems a bit odd to keep both dasilva and bidwell

Ideally we shift out

Bidwell
Wilson/Collins
Allen
Bassette
Simms/BTA

And replace with 3 Quality signings.

That also means keeping Andrews, Perry, Raphael for depth.

In reality I can see maybe 2 of the first 5 leaving and 2 coming in.

It’s not odd. Frank doesn’t think JDS or Bidwell are good enough so we brought a new left back in. The existing two are under contract, and in addition JDS is playing well. What would you do ? Not bring a new one in ?

Da Silva was ok today to be fair but Saka was possibly our best player along with Rudi.
On the note of overhit crosses though, who is it that we find trying to compete for them on both sides ….oh yes those two teeny tots at 5ft 6” or whatever they are

Brau at left wing is ok. His main attribute is crossing so that makes sense. Dasilva was playing well so made sense.

I would assume the plan was/is to move Bidwell on but at the moment we can't because we've got almost zero defensive cover. It's either him or Perry to come in if one of the centre backs gets injured.

More than once it was like Dasilva just glitched and stood still as the attack unfolded around him.
